Chapter 1795: Chapter 1794: I’ll Take Care of My Little Sister

Mo Xiuchen and Wen Ran exchanged a smile.

Qingqing is awake, and Ziyi is still soothing her?

Who knows what kind of scene that is.

Wen Ran signaled Mo Xiuchen to open the door. Mo Xiuchen nodded with a smile and lifted his hand to push open the door.

In the children’s room, Ziyi was wearing pajamas, leaning over the baby crib, intently watching Qingqing. He was softly soothing her.

Perhaps due to his efforts, Qingqing in the crib wasn’t crying anymore.

In fact, Mo Xiuchen and Wen Ran hadn’t heard any crying from Qingqing; she was indeed awake.

Mo Xiuchen called out to Ziyi.

Ziyi, upon hearing the voice, quickly turned his head and said, “Dad, Mom, my sister is awake.”

“Did she wet herself?”

Wen Ran asked as she walked to the crib. Ziyi nodded, answering in his childish voice, “I already changed her diaper.”

“You changed her diaper?” Wen Ran widened her eyes in surprise.

A bit unbelievable; she knew Ziyi was great at caring for Qingqing, but until now, it was limited to pushing her around or feeding her water.

He wanted to change Qingqing’s diaper but had never really tried.

“Yes, Mom, I changed it for her. If you don’t believe me, take a look.”

“Where did you get the diaper?” Wen Ran bent over to check if Qingqing’s diaper was dry.

Mo Xiuchen watched Ziyi with a silent smile.

He heard Ziyi say, “When I came up to sleep earlier, I grabbed a diaper just in case my sister wetted herself at night, so I could change it.”

Ziyi spoke as if it was the most natural thing, as though knowing and doing this was completely normal for him.

“Did she stop crying after you changed her diaper?”

Wen Ran listened to him and, with a gentle smile, shifted the topic.

Ziyi nodded and said proudly, “Yes, I soothed her a bit and she stopped crying.”

There were no tear stains on Qingqing’s face, a clear sign Ziyi had wiped them away.

Listening to their conversation, she simply watched Ziyi with her big wide eyes, and upon closer inspection, Qingqing seemed to have a faint smile.

Wen Ran realized Ziyi indeed had some ability to soothe Qingqing until she stopped crying.

Moreover, Qingqing seemed to trust him.

Thinking about this, she couldn’t help but smile, “I was worried you’d wake up in the middle of the night. I didn’t expect that you’re so skilled at caring for your sister. It looks like she can sleep in your room without worries tonight.”

Ziyi immediately beamed with joy upon hearing this, “Mom, don’t worry, I’ll take good care of my sister.”

“Alright, we trust you. Now hurry up and go to bed.”

Ziyi shook his head, “Mom, I’ll sleep once I’ve put my sister to sleep.”

Having soothed his sister, prevented her from crying, and changed her diaper gave him a sense of accomplishment. Once his sister fell asleep, it wouldn’t be too late for him to go to bed.

He wanted to prove he was capable of caring for his sister.

His dad had previously said when he’d earn money, he could bring his sister to live at home, so he went to find his uncle. Now that he’s earned money, he must learn to care for his sister.

Mo Xiuchen heard this, looked at Ziyi, and said to Wen Ran, “Ranran, since Ziyi can put Qingqing to sleep, we should go downstairs.”

Wen Ran furrowed her brows slightly, intending to say something, but Mo Xiuchen spoke first, “Ziyi, once you’ve put your sister to sleep, immediately climb into bed. You’re not allowed to indulge in play, understand?”

Ziyi promptly nodded, “Dad, rest assured, I’ll sleep obediently.”

He was already grown up, not a little child anymore.

Mo Xiuchen smiled, leading Wen Ran out of the room.

“Are we really fine leaving them like this? Ziyi is still so young, I feel we should soothe Qingqing ourselves before leaving.”

Mo Xiuchen confidently responded, “Don’t worry, Ziyi is our son. I trust his abilities. Letting him become independent early will spare you a lot of concerns later.”

He didn’t want Ranran dedicating all her energy to the children and neglecting him.

Now, there was no more need to worry about Ziyi.

If he could find someone to look after Momo and Xinxin, then everything would be perfect.

He would then be able to enjoy a private world with Ranran, without any disturbances.

Thinking of this, Mo Xiuchen figured the next step should be finding two excellent sons-in-law.

With a daughter-in-law already found, two suitable sons-in-law would lead to peace of mind.

However, finding two satisfactory sons-in-law seemed to be quite challenging!

Wen Ran wasn’t aware of Mo Xiuchen’s thoughts; she was merely listening to how Ziyi was soothing Qingqing inside the room.

After a while, Wen Ran truly felt at ease.

Though young, Ziyi’s childish voice even had a hint of a baby-like tone, yet the words that came out of his mouth were genuinely proper.

A few minutes later, Qingqing was put to sleep by him.

“Sister, I’ve tucked you in well, don’t kick off the blanket… Good night, I’m off to sleep too.”

Then the room fell silent, Ziyi climbed into bed, and Wen Ran heard the sound of him covering himself with the blanket.

“Xiuchen, they’re both asleep, let’s go downstairs.”

Wen Ran checked on Momo and Xinxin in the adjacent room, and then returned to talk to Mo Xiuchen.

Hearing her words, Mo Xiuchen snapped back from his contemplation and smiled, “Alright, let’s go downstairs.”

**

As they came downstairs, Wen Ran heard Bai Xiaoxiao on the phone, sitting on the couch in the living room.

Seeing her come down, Bai Xiaoxiao waved to her, while Mo Xiuchen affectionately patted Wen Ran’s head and turned to walk toward the adjacent room.

Wen Ran approached the sofa, smilingly asked Bai Xiaoxiao, “Is it Uncle Bai and Aunt Qiao on the phone?”

“It’s my mom.” Bai Xiaoxiao answered with a smile, “I was about to ask you to be my witness, and here you are coming down. Ziyi and the others didn’t wake up, right?”

Wen Ran took the phone from her hand and cheerfully greeted, “Aunt Qiao, happy New Year, I’m here to send my New Year’s greetings…”

Wen Ran spoke sweetly, extending her well-wishes, as on the phone, Qiao Xiuyun heard and replied happily, “Ranran, happy New Year to you too. How about those kids, are they all asleep?”

“They’re asleep, but they woke up a while ago. When I checked upstairs, Ziyi was soothing Qingqing.”

“Wow, Ziyi can soothe his sister already?”

Qiao Xiuyun was surprised.

Wen Ran laughed and replied, “Yes, he’s always thinking about when Qingqing gets a bit older, he can bring her to live at home. So, now he’s learning to take care of her.”

“Ziyi is really impressive.”

“Aunt Qiao, our house is quite lively tonight; Xiaoxiao won’t be heading back, is that alright?”

Wen Ran said, winking at Bai Xiaoxiao.

Even though Bai Xiaoxiao’s father allowed her to stay out tonight, since Qiao Xiuyun had called, Wen Ran thought it best to confirm again.

“Who all are at your place making it so lively?”

Wen Ran glanced at the room, “My two brothers, along with Qin Mu and An Lin, they’re all here. The four of them, Mo Xiuchen, are just enough for a mahjong game; we’re watching the fun from the side.”

Wen Ran deliberately said they’re enough for a game, implying Luo Haofeng wasn’t there.
