Chapter 1785: 1784: He Said He Won't Stop Me
Chapter 1785: Chapter 1784: He Said He Won’t Stop Me
Mr. Bai couldn’t help but smile bitterly, “Ranran, the grudge between your Aunt Qiao and the Luo family isn’t something that can be easily resolved. If it could be resolved, it wouldn’t have escalated to this.”
“Dad, please persuade mom for me.”
Bai Xiaoxiao shook Mr. Bai’s hand.
Mr. Bai shook his head, “Xiaoxiao, your mother won’t agree, and not just her, Luo Haofeng’s mother is even less likely to agree.”
“Dad, but I’ve already decided. Can you let me try just this once?”
Xiaoxiao tightly pressed her lips together, suppressing her sorrow, and spoke with determination in her voice.
Mr. Bai’s expression changed, just as he was about to say something, Bai Xiaoxiao said again, “Dad, you’re not helping me, but please don’t stop me, okay?”
“…”
“If after all our efforts, Luo Haofeng and I still can’t resolve our mothers’ quarrel, then I won’t marry in this lifetime, I’ll stay with you forever.”
“Xiaoxiao, why put yourself through this.”
Mr. Bai frowned, looking at his daughter with a pained expression.
Bai Xiaoxiao gave a sorrowful smile, “I want to try and fight for my own happiness.”
“Uncle Bai, please just agree to Xiaoxiao’s request.”
Wen Ran looked at Bai Xiaoxiao, feeling both sad and determined, making her equally sad.
She understood the pain of loving someone but not being able to be together.
Bai Xiaoxiao and Luo Haofeng’s situation now was so similar to hers back then with Mo Xiuchen, though not quite the same.
The difference was that what kept them apart were the respected elders, the relatives they loved.
Yet the similarity was in the mutual love that couldn’t withstand external obstacles.
Mr. Bai looked solemn and pondered for a long time.
In the end, he couldn’t withstand the hopeful gazes of Bai Xiaoxiao and Wen Ran. He sighed and said lightly, “I’ll pretend I don’t know.”
Even though it was just a slight concession, and he wasn’t exactly helping Bai Xiaoxiao, she was deeply moved, and her words were filled with excitement, “Dad, thank you.”
“Xiaoxiao, your mother just wants to protect you from harm.” After a moment of silence, Mr. Bai couldn’t help but speak on behalf of Qiao Xiuyun.
Bai Xiaoxiao nodded with a smile, “Dad, I understand.”
Just then, Wen Ran’s phone rang. She glanced down, took out her phone, and answered the call.
Mo Xiuchen’s voice, gentle and magnetic, came through, “Ranran, I’m almost at Xiaoxiao’s house. Have Xiaoxiao see you out.”
Wen Ran’s eyes flickered, and she immediately understood, “Okay, Xiuchen, I’ll be right out.”
“Alright, we’ll wait for you outside.”
After hanging up, Wen Ran said to Mr. Bai, “Uncle Bai, Xiuchen is here to pick me up. I have to leave now.”
“Xiaoxiao, see Ranran out.”
Before she could respond, Mr. Bai instructed Bai Xiaoxiao to escort her.
Wen Ran glanced at Bai Xiaoxiao and winked, to which Bai Xiaoxiao responded with a smile, “Xiuchen is really good to you, you’ve just parted for a little while, and he’s already here to pick you up, as if I would keep you.”
“That’s the point, he’s afraid you’ll keep me here and not let me go home.”
Bai Xiaoxiao gave her a playful glance, said goodbye to Mr. Bai, and took Wen Ran towards the door.
Mr. Bai watched them leave the living room before getting up to go upstairs to see Qiao Xiuyun.
“Xiaoxiao, let’s walk a little further.”
Upon exiting the villa and not seeing Mo Xiuchen’s car, Wen Ran suggested with a smile to Bai Xiaoxiao.
Bai Xiaoxiao nodded, responding cheerfully, “Okay, I’ll take a walk with you.”
The two walked for a few minutes and saw Mo Xiuchen’s car coming from afar at the corner of the street. Wen Ran pulled Bai Xiaoxiao under a large tree to wait.
A moment later, Mo Xiuchen’s car stopped in front of Wen Ran and Bai Xiaoxiao.
Mo Xiuchen got out from the driver’s seat, looked ahead, confirming that from there they couldn’t see Xiaoxiao’s house, and naturally, from the house, they couldn’t see here.
“Xiaoxiao, Ah Feng is in the car. You can either get in the car and leave with him, or ask him to come out.”
Bai Xiaoxiao’s eyes flashed with surprise; she hadn’t expected Luo Haofeng to come to her house.
Before she had time to speak, the rear door was opened, and Luo Haofeng’s tall figure emerged, his long narrow eyes locking onto hers intently.
Bai Xiaoxiao’s heartbeat missed a beat uncontrollably.
Their gazes intertwined, and the air around them seemed to shift subtly in that moment.
Mo Xiuchen shifted his gaze and smiled faintly at Wen Ran, “Ranran, get in the car. Let’s go home.”
“Okay.”
Wen Ran responded softly, and Mo Xiuchen took her hand, leading her two steps forward, opened the passenger seat door, waited for her to get in, then shut the door, circled the car, and got back into the driver’s seat.
Before driving off, he rolled down the window and addressed Luo Haofeng and Bai Xiaoxiao, who were standing there silently, “Ah Feng, Xiaoxiao, take your time talking, we’ll be leaving now.”
The black Aston drove away. Only then did Luo Haofeng step forward to take Bai Xiaoxiao’s hand.
Bai Xiaoxiao didn’t move, letting his broad hand envelop her cool one.
While seeing Wen Ran off, she hadn’t dressed warmly, and after accompanying Wen Ran for a few minutes and waiting there, her hands got a bit cold.
The familiar warmth wrapped around her hand, seeping through her skin in strands, warming her heart shortly after.
Even the cold wind kissing her face suddenly felt gentler.
The winter didn’t feel so cold anymore.
“Xiaoxiao, let’s go to the café up ahead.”
Luo Haofeng glanced at a nearby café and suggested to Bai Xiaoxiao warmly,
Bai Xiaoxiao nodded, “I can’t stay too long. My mom doesn’t know I’m out.”
Hearing this, Luo Haofeng smiled slightly, signaling his understanding.
Once inside the café, they each ordered a coffee. Luo Haofeng immediately reached across the table to hold Bai Xiaoxiao’s hand.
It seemed only by holding her hand tightly could he feel she was truly by his side.
And that she wouldn’t leave.
“Xiaoxiao, about Aunt Qiao’s kidnapping today, it really wasn’t my mother’s doing.”
Though he’d already explained at the police station, Luo Haofeng felt compelled to clarify once more.
He and Xiaoxiao finally had a breakthrough; he couldn’t let this kidnapping incident, where his mother was falsely accused, make Xiaoxiao resent his mother and distance herself from him.
Bai Xiaoxiao remained silent, just quietly watching Luo Haofeng’s handsome face, noticing his serious demeanor and earnest eyes.
Her heart suddenly warmed. Luo Haofeng’s nervousness was because he cared.
Being cherished by a man so deeply was a blissful thing.
Remembering her conversation with her father earlier at home, Bai Xiaoxiao smiled slightly and said softly, “Haofeng, my father already knows about us.”
Luo Haofeng looked at Bai Xiaoxiao in shock, then hesitantly asked, “Xiaoxiao, what did Uncle Bai say?”
Seeing his tense expression, Bai Xiaoxiao couldn’t help but laugh, “Don’t be so nervous. My dad isn’t supportive, but he promised not to stop me either.”
