Chapter 1522: 1521 Beautiful Man Strategy

Chapter 1522: 1521 Beautiful Man Strategy

Hearing the sound of the living room door opening and closing, An Lin knew Qin Mu had left.

She picked up the book from the nightstand, flipped through it for a while, then sleepiness hit her, and just as she lay down, she heard the door open again.

Knowing it was Qin Mu returning, An Lin continued to sleep on her own.

Qin Mu didn’t come into the bedroom. Through the door, An Lin didn’t know what he came back for, it was impossible for him to have finished dinner so quickly.

Not hearing any sounds, in a few minutes, she drifted into dreamland.

In the kitchen, Qin Mu was focused on preparing dinner.

Initially, he wanted An Lin to go out to eat, but since she didn’t want to go due to a stomachache, he bought ingredients to cook at home.

He first boiled some water to make An Lin a cup of brown sugar water.

After letting it cool a bit, when it was no longer hot, Qin Mu walked into An Lin’s room with the brown sugar water and found her asleep.

He hesitated for a moment, didn’t wake her, and quietly left the room.

An Lin was awakened by Qin Mu. Half asleep, when she opened her eyes, for a fleeting moment, she thought it was morning.

Seeing Qin Mu sitting on the edge of the bed, she blinked, and her mind started to clear.

“What time is it?”

“Almost eight o’clock, you’ve been asleep for nearly two hours. Get up and eat, then you can sleep again,” Qin Mu said warmly, his expression gentle.

An Lin yawned, “Have I slept that long?”

“Yes.”

Qin Mu nodded, reaching out to hold her wrist, showing her the watch on it.

An Lin smiled, “If you hadn’t woken me, I could’ve slept till tomorrow morning.”

“Have dinner first, then sleep again. It’s not good to sleep on an empty stomach,” said Qin Mu, pulling her up from the bed.

They walked out of the bedroom together and headed to the dining room.

“Weren’t you going to buy dinner? Why did you cook yourself?” Seeing the food on the table, An Lin suddenly realized that when she heard him return earlier, it was because he had brought ingredients back to cook dinner.

Qin Mu pulled out the chair next to her and sat down, “I made you a cup of brown sugar water, but you fell asleep, so I cooked porridge. Does your stomach still hurt?”

“A little, but not much,” An Lin recalled the dream she had just had, feeling a touch more warmth towards Qin Mu.

The atmosphere between them was no longer tense. Qin Mu was a considerate person; not only did he cook porridge for her, but he also made her favorite dishes.

This meal was rather pleasant for both of them.

They didn’t mention any unhappy matters. After dinner, Qin Mu told An Lin to shower and sleep while he went out for a while.

When he returned, he found An Lin curled up on the sofa watching TV, holding a soft pillow, laughing hysterically at some comedy show.

From outside the door, Qin Mu could already hear the laughter.

“What show is so funny?”

An Lin was so engrossed that she didn’t hear Qin Mu open the door. When his voice reached her, a hint of surprise flashed in her eyes, and she turned to look.

The graceful eyebrows and eyes were still lit up with a bright smile, too late to hide it.

In the glow of the chandelier, her eyes shone beautifully and irresistibly.

Qin Mu’s eyes flickered, his heart momentarily dazed.

It had been so long since he’d seen An Lin smile like this.

When did it begin? He couldn’t remember. Perhaps it was since last year after she confessed to him.

Even in the early days of their marriage, when things were good between them, An Lin’s smile was never as vividly bright and pure as it was now.

The guilt inside him spread again, unknowingly.

Qin Mu pressed his lips together, a smile appearing on his handsome face as he strode to the sofa, glanced at the TV show, and sat down beside An Lin.

The show was really funny, making it hard for An Lin not to laugh.

Holding a pillow in one hand, she pointed to the LCD screen with the other and said to Qin Mu, “These two are so silly…”

Qin Mu’s lips curved into a faint smile, “It’s already ten o’clock, aren’t you afraid you’ll age faster if you don’t go to bed?”

“You…”

An Lin’s laughter abruptly stopped at Qin Mu’s words, her pretty brows furrowing in annoyance as Qin Mu picked up the remote from the coffee table and turned off the TV.

Taking the pillow from her, he pulled her up from the sofa, “An Lin, were you watching TV waiting for me?”

His handsome face was so close, his voice low, his breath warm.

His gaze seemed calm on the surface, yet it was deep and enticing, as if to draw her in.

An Lin felt her heart thud fiercely.

From the joy of watching the show, to the downer of him mentioning late nights leading to aging, to the surprise of his serious questioning, her expression changed along with it.

She turned her face away, struggling to pull her hand out.

“I wasn’t waiting for you, I just couldn’t sleep.”

She wasn’t lying; watching TV was just to pass the time, not specifically to wait for him.

But Qin Mu didn’t seem to believe her.

He tightened his grip, making An Lin’s struggles futile. He raised his other hand, intending to touch her face. An Lin frowned and said, “I’m going to bed.”

“Aren’t you having trouble sleeping?”

Qin Mu asked casually, completely unfazed by her sudden mood change.

He had pulled her up and was staring at her face-to-face from such a close distance, neither letting her go to sleep nor allowing her to sit down.

This intimate posture made An Lin’s heartbeat erratic.

She felt her brain couldn’t function properly and disliked conversing with him like this.

Knowing Qin Mu’s use of his charm, yet unable to remain unmoved.

Annoyed with herself, An Lin’s face turned unpleasant, “If I don’t lie in bed, how can I sleep? Let me go back to my room, and I’ll fall asleep, won’t I?”

“If you’re not sleepy, lying in bed won’t make you sleep. Let’s chat.”

“Then let me sit down.”

An Lin rolled her eyes; standing while talking was tiring, alright?

Qin Mu didn’t want her to sit down.

Standing and talking allowed him to look into her eyes and see what she was thinking.

Being so close, she had nowhere to escape.

“My stomach hurts.”

Seeing Qin Mu not letting go, An Lin suddenly frowned in discomfort, clutching her abdomen. Qin Mu’s eyes flashed with a trace of worry, and he immediately asked with concern, “Does it hurt a lot?”

“Yes.”

An Lin nearly lowered her head to her chest.

Qin Mu, already taller than her, couldn’t see her expression. He hesitated for a moment and said, “Let’s go back to the room.”

Qin Mu led her back to the bedroom, where, under his instructions, she lay down on the bed.

Qin Mu stared at her, “Do you need me to get some medicine?”

“No, maybe I’ll feel better once I sleep.”

An Lin shook her head, her pretty brows still furrowed, looking quite distressed.

Qin Mu turned and left the bedroom, heading to the kitchen to make her some brown sugar water.

Two minutes later, he returned with the brown sugar water, glanced at An Lin lying on the bed with her eyes closed, and softly called, “An Lin, get up and drink this brown sugar water.”

“I don’t want to drink it; I want to sleep.”

An Lin yawned, not opening her eyes.

“No way, you have to drink the brown sugar water first.”

Qin Mu’s face turned slightly serious. Although his voice was quiet, it carried an undeniable authority.

It seemed that if she didn’t get up, he would pull her up and make her drink the brown sugar water before sleeping.
