Chapter 1347: 1346 I don’t want to see you
Pharmaceutical Factory, Parking Lot
Bai Yiyi sat in the driver’s seat, listening to her mother Bai Yuqin’s cheerful voice. A faint smile appeared on her face. “Mom, are you having fun?”
“Of course I’m having fun. Can you guess where I am right now?”
“Probably at a temple,” Bai Yiyi replied with a smile. Not only could she hear the sound of a wooden fish being struck in the background, but the faint scent of incense seemed to linger in the air.
“You got it right, Yiyi. It’s rare for you to call me on your own. Is there something you need to tell me?” Bai Yiyi could sense that her mother seemed to be in much higher spirits during this trip.
Hearing her mother’s joyful tone, Bai Yiyi suddenly hesitated to bring up the matter about Li En.
She hesitated for a moment. “No, nothing important. I just missed you, and Tongtong misses you too. Just wanted to ask when you’re coming back.”
“Yiyi, there must be something. If it’s nothing, you wouldn’t be calling me. Just say it—what’s going on?”
Bai Yiyi tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and let out an awkward laugh. “Really, it’s nothing. Tongtong and I just miss you. But you seem to be having a great time, so you should stay longer. No need to rush back.”
“Yiyi, is this about Little Li?” A mother always knows her daughter best.
Bai Yuqin brought up Li En on her own, and Bai Yiyi could only give a nervous laugh, unsure of what to say.
“Yiyi, you think I wouldn’t know just because I’m traveling? That medical accident—Little Li was involved in it. I already know.”
Bai Yuqin’s voice carried a trace of heartbreak. She had always treated Li En like her own. From the beginning, she had been worried that following Fu Jingyi would make Li En as extreme as him.
She never expected that, in the end, Li En would still walk the same dark path as Fu Jingyi.
“Mom, since you already know, then I’ll just be straightforward. Li En is still withholding some information, but he refuses to talk. I was hoping you could convince him. You don’t need to rush back; I’ll go see him in a bit. When I do, I’ll ask if it’s possible to let you talk to him over the phone.”
“Alright, give me a call afterward.” Bai Yuqin agreed softly.
Bai Yiyi knew that her mom cared deeply about Li En. Seeing him on a self-destructive path must be devastating for her. She didn’t say much more and ended the call.
Driving to the prison, she arrived at half-past four.
Lu Zhiyan must have received a call from Wen Jin, as he was already waiting there.
He approached to open the car door for her and explained with a smile as she stepped out. “Ah Jin called and told me you’d be here soon. Miss Bai, this way.”
Lu Zhiyan gestured to the right. Bai Yiyi nodded slightly and followed him inside.
“Officer Lu, I just gave my mom a call and wanted her to try persuading Li En. But she’s traveling and can’t come back right now. Do you think it’d be possible to let Li En speak with her over the phone later?”
Lu Zhiyan’s eyes flickered with contemplation before he nodded. “Alright, special circumstances call for special measures, as long as it helps him talk.”

Fang Zhiwei finally received a call from the person who had sent her the package.
It was a distorted female voice, and she couldn’t recognize who it was. The person on the other end asked, “Fang Zhiwei, did you get the package I sent you?”
“Who are you? If you really have evidence, why don’t you dare to use your real voice?” Fang Zhiwei had just finished class and was walking toward her car, ready to head home.
Hearing the voice, her hand froze on the car door handle, and a trace of irritation surfaced on her face.
“Who I am doesn’t matter. I said I have evidence, so I have evidence. Let me play a recording for you first.” The voice had a sharp, eerie quality that would make one’s skin crawl if heard at night, though it wasn’t as unsettling in broad daylight.
“What kind of recording?” Fang Zhiwei frowned. The cold wind brushing against her face carried a chill. She bent down and got into her car.
Once she closed the door, the voice of a man came through her phone. “Miss Bai, I didn’t hold you accountable for deceiving me, but Fang Zhiwei definitely won’t be as forgiving…”
Hearing the voice, Fang Zhiwei’s expression changed. Her grip on the phone tightened. The person only played two sentences.
Both were spoken by that man.
“This is something I accidentally recorded—a conversation between Qian Songnan and Bai Yiyi. Fang Zhiwei, do you believe me now? Bai Yiyi stole your boyfriend.”
“Do you think you can sow discord with just two sentences? What exactly are you trying to achieve by making me hate Bai Yiyi?”
Suppressing her emotions, Fang Zhiwei questioned coldly.
Gu Kai had told her that this person’s intention was to provoke her into taking action against Bai Yiyi.
She reminded herself to trust Gu Kai, not a malicious stranger. She must not become someone Gu Kai would despise.
“Believe it or not, it’s up to you. I just can’t stand seeing you abandoned while still kept in the dark. Think it over carefully. I’ll give you more evidence in a few days.”
With that, the caller hung up.
Fang Zhiwei held the phone, her eyes swirling with complex emotions.
She couldn’t deny that those two sentences from Qian Songnan planted a seed of doubt in her heart, one that threatened to sprout. She pressed her lips tightly together, trying to suppress her chaotic thoughts.

In the interrogation room
When Li En saw Bai Yiyi enter, an expression of mockery flashed across his eyes.
His gaze lingered on her for half a second before he lowered his head, refusing to acknowledge her further.
Bai Yiyi pursed her lips and walked over slowly. Lu Zhiyan motioned for the other two officers to leave. He handed his phone to Bai Yiyi.
Bai Yiyi took the phone without comment, and Lu Zhiyan turned to step out as well.
Once the door closed, the atmosphere in the interrogation room became stifling.
“You don’t want to see me?” Bai Yiyi sat down and looked at Li En calmly. Her voice was soft and composed. She didn’t care about the hatred he felt toward her.
Li En raised his cold eyes to look at her. “Bai Yiyi, you know I don’t want to see you, so why are you here? I want to see Gu Kai. Go away and bring Gu Kai here.”
“What do you want to see Gu Kai for?” Bai Yiyi stared at him intently. “Elder Brother Li, even if my father hated the Gu Family back then, that was his grudge against Gu Yan—not yours. I don’t get it. Why is your hatred even deeper than my father’s?”
Li En let out a sneer, narrowing his eyes sharply. “Yiyi, do you really not know? If you didn’t know, you wouldn’t have come here today, right?”
Bai Yiyi’s expression shifted slightly, though she suppressed her emotions. “I’m here to see you. This has nothing to do with Gu Kai.”
“You’re lying.” Li En’s expression changed abruptly, and he glared at her fiercely. “You’re right. The teacher hated the Gu Family because of his grudge with Gu Yan. Gu Yan stole the woman he loved. He should hate him. He should’ve dragged Gu Yan down to hell.”
“I hate Gu Kai for the same reason the teacher hated Gu Yan—because Gu Kai ruined the girl I loved. What I hate most is why you had to give birth to his daughter. And if that wasn’t enough, you let Tongtong recognize him as her father, giving you a reason to be entangled with Gu Kai for the rest of your life.”
“I didn’t let that happen. Tongtong recognizing him was an accident.”
