Chapter 131: Chapter 131: Illusion Technique

Qiao Suluo’s face was pale. She was terrified that one wrong move could cost Tushan Feishang his life, so she threw caution to the wind and poured all her Wood Element Ability into his body.

Recently, she had been resting and eating well, which allowed her Wood Element Ability not only to recover but to improve slightly. Although she had expended a portion of it treating Qin Wushang’s cold affliction, she still had half her reserves left, and she gave it all to Tushan Feishang.

Tushan Feishang had felt as if his heart was splitting open. His blood had surged uncontrollably, and a shattering agony racked his bones and limbs. Yet, as Qiao Suluo used her superpower to heal him, the pain gradually subsided, and his churning blood settled. A warm, comfortable sensation spread through him—a feeling he couldn’t help but crave.

Even the Witch Doctors of the Qingqiu Clan were helpless regarding his condition, yet she possessed a solution.

Still, Tushan Feishang pressed his hand over hers. "Take it easy, wife. Let’s not have you fainting on me." He still remembered how she had passed out the last time she used her power to mend his tail.

"I’m fine. I can keep going," Qiao Suluo insisted.

Her face was pale, and a sheen of sweat dotted her forehead from the heavy use of her Wood Element Ability, but she felt she could hold on. She was someone who repaid kindness. Tushan Feishang had helped her, and she absolutely couldn’t let anything happen to him.

"Silly girl. You look like this, yet you claim you’re fine. Come here and sit."

Tushan Feishang pulled Qiao Suluo up and settled her beside him. He retrieved a handkerchief from his sleeve and gently dabbed the sweat from her forehead. "You must always know your limits," he told her earnestly. "Your own health is the most important thing, understand?"

Qiao Suluo pursed her lips. "Look who’s talking. You’re exactly the same.

"I shouldn’t have spent so much time talking to Young Master Qin. I should have come back earlier with you."

Tushan Feishang watched her look of regret, a stark contrast to her usual feisty and cunning demeanor.

"Alright, don’t beat yourself up over it. Not a single word you exchanged with Qin Wushang was wasted. At the very least, we learned a great deal about the Qin Family. Besides, he spoke at length to earn your trust and prove that he can fulfill your conditions."

Tushan Feishang himself hadn’t realized how gentle his movements were as he dabbed the sweat from her brow. Lost in her own thoughts, Qiao Suluo naturally didn’t notice his tenderness either.

"By the way, what superpower did you use?" Qiao Suluo looked up, intensely curious about his abilities. "Was it a Charm Technique?"

He had used that on her before, though she had quickly snapped out of it thanks to the system’s warning. However, even a Charm Technique shouldn’t have been able to control that many people, blinding passing Qin Family servants to their presence and allowing them to move unimpeded. Furthermore, there had to have been quite a few guards stationed around Qin Wushang’s quarters, yet none of them had spotted the two of them.

"It’s an Illusion Technique unique to the Qingqiu Fox Clan," Tushan Feishang replied. "I cast an illusion, which is why they were oblivious. Moreover, the guards’ memories of us will vanish after our departure, so don’t worry about being discovered."

Qiao Suluo’s eyes lit up, widening in surprise. "Your superpower is an Illusion Technique?"

Tushan Feishang looked at her sparkling eyes and insatiable curiosity, explaining with rare patience, "Yes. In the Qingqiu Clan, the purer and stronger your bloodline, the more formidable your Illusion Technique. I can create illusions and control illusory realms.

"When I was in good health, my range of control was much larger. Now, I can only manifest a fraction of that power."

Qiao Suluo blinked, awestruck. "That’s already incredibly impressive."

She couldn’t fathom how terrifyingly powerful he would be if he fully recovered and could wield the entirety of his Illusion Technique.

"It was far too cruel of your clansmen to abandon you," she said softly.

"When my body failed, even the clan’s most powerful Witch Doctor couldn’t heal me," Tushan Feishang said. "A Nine-tailed Fox losing three tails to become a Six-tailed Fox is nothing but a disgrace to the clan. It was better for me to leave the Qingqiu Clan and live as a dead man in the outside world."

From the day he departed, he was already dead to his people.

A wave of sympathy for him washed over Qiao Suluo. Almost involuntarily, she reached out, grasping his hand. "Don’t worry," she promised solemnly. "I will definitely cure you. You’re a Seven-tails now. Soon enough, you’ll recover completely and be a Nine-tailed Fox again."

Tushan Feishang looked down at her hands enveloping his. For once, he didn’t pull away. Seeing her earnest expression, a soft smile touched his lips. His wife was overflowing with compassion; he wasn’t sure if that was a strength or a weakness.

"Silly girl. There’s nothing wrong with leaving the family." Divorced from the clan’s endless petty squabbles, he was free and unfettered.

"I treated you poorly in the past," Qiao Suluo murmured, a hint of guilt in her voice.

He had never cared for her before, so her terrible attitude hadn’t bothered him. But now...

"That’s exactly why you need to make it up to me moving forward, wife. You’re all I have now, sigh..."

Qiao Suluo nodded seriously. "I will."

She swore to treat them all well from now on.

Suddenly recalling something, Qiao Suluo asked, "By the way, did your boss try the pastries I sent over? What did he think? Were they good?"

Tushan Feishang pinched the bridge of his nose. Her head was still utterly filled with business ideas.

"Our boss quite liked them. He’s decided to partner with you; he wants to purchase your pastries to sell at our establishment."

A radiant smile bloomed on Qiao Suluo’s face, her eyes curving into joyful crescents. "Wonderful! I’ll supply the pastries."

She was far too busy to handle the workload herself, but she could hand this venture over to her parents and brothers. That way, they would have a steady income, and her family’s living conditions would improve.

Ever since Que Hongjin enrolled at Nanlu Academy, his days had been incredibly fulfilling.

He loved reading all sorts of literature, and now he carved out time each day to transcribe books. Thanks to his elegant calligraphy and flawless accuracy, the local bookstore paid him two taels of silver for every book he copied. He planned to save it all up to give to his wife.

One day, as he walked out of the academy gates, he ran into members of the Peacock Family.

"Young Master, I’ve finally found you!"

Que Hongjin’s expression shifted drastically at the sight of them, his gaze turning icy. "I am no longer your young master. Go back."

"Young Master, your body has fully recovered. I’m here under the direct orders of the Family Head and the clan elders to escort you back."

A mocking smirk curled Que Hongjin’s lips. "My health hasn’t recovered, and I have no intention of returning.

"I have my own home now, and I have my wife. The affairs of the Peacock Family have nothing to do with me anymore."

Shedding his usual gentle demeanor, Que Hongjin released a sharp, domineering aura. This matter was absolutely not up for negotiation.

"Young Master, even if a Contract has been formed, the Peacock Family possesses a Secret Technique to dissolve the contract mark without causing you any harm.

"Furthermore, your Jade Token has lit up, indicating your total recovery. Once you return, your position as the family heir remains secure.

"That Qiao Suluo is utterly unworthy of being your wife. Neither her status nor her abilities are a match for you.

"With your limitless potential, background, and talent, you must select a wife of equal standing and prowess."
