First Intergalactic Emperor: Starting With The Ancient Goddess
Chapter 588: War Against the Demonic Society
Plasma bolts scorched the mahogany bar as Rin vaulted over the shattered wood. He drove his dark steel swords through a loyalist attacker’s chest and kicked the collapsing body into the corridor.
Kylus fired his pulse pistol repeatedly from behind an overturned velvet couch to cover Rin’s flank.
The Warden swung his plasma-axe in a wide arc. He cleaved one of the bribed floral-shirt guards in two before turning his crimson eyes toward Xavier.
“You die right now!” the Warden bellowed.
Xavier remained seated on the leather sofa. He closed his system interface with a flick of his wrist and stood up. The genetic transfer with Xalvoria surged through his veins. His physical durability had multiplied alongside his telekinetic capacity.
The Warden lunged forward and brought the glowing axe down toward Xavier’s skull. Xavier simply raised his bare hand to intercept the strike. A localized spatial distortion sparked over his palm.
The plasma blade struck the void-laced starlight shield and stopped dead. Xavier felt no strain. The Primordial Endurance coursing through him absorbed the kinetic impact effortlessly.
“My turn,” Xavier said.
He grabbed the handle of the axe and twisted his wrist. The metal warped under his enhanced grip. Xavier unleashed a concentrated blast of telekinetic force directly into the Warden’s abdomen. The prison official launched backward and crashed through the grated ceiling panels.
Suddenly, the metal walls of the containment block groaned. The temperature plummeted. A dark spatial rift tore open at the end of the hallway.
Three towering figures stepped out of the portal. The center leader wore bone armor etched with glowing purple runes. He held a colossal broadsword and possessed six piercing yellow eyes.
“Fleet Commander,” Kylus muttered while reloading his pistol.
“I leave for one cycle, and my holding cells turn into a tavern,” the Fleet Commander spoke. His voice rattled the floor plates. He looked at the dead loyalists and the surviving bribed guards. “Kill everyone.”
The two elite lieutenants beside the commander charged forward. Rin intercepted the first lieutenant with a flurry of silver-lit slashes. Kylus ignited his thermal cutter to engage the second.
Xavier walked calmly toward the Fleet Commander. He summoned Serpent’s Fang into his right hand. The chain-blade rattled as starlight mixed with dark void energy along the metal links. The residual fragments of Xalvoria’s draconic core allowed him to manipulate the fabric of space itself.
The Fleet Commander swung his colossal broadsword in a horizontal sweep meant to cleave Xavier in half.
Xavier triggered a localized void step. He vanished from his position and materialized instantly directly above the commander. He whipped Serpent’s Fang downward. The bladed chain wrapped around the armored shoulder.
Xavier yanked his arm back with his newly multiplied strength. The armor buckled and tore a deep gash across the collarbone.
The enemy leader roared and reached up to grab the chain. Xavier channeled his Golden Authority down the weapon. The golden light surged into the monster’s flesh to disintegrate the corrupted tissue on contact.
While the commander staggered, Xavier summoned the Grave Indexer in his left hand. He bypassed the standard ammunition feed and poured two million credits into the chamber. The weapon glowed with blinding light.
“Welcome to your own prison,” Xavier said.
He pulled the trigger. The concentrated blast of pure financial ruin slammed into the Fleet Commander’s chest. The impact blew a hole straight through the bone armor and sent the giant crashing through three consecutive blast doors.
However, the Fleet Commander possessed incredible vitality. He pushed himself out of the rubble and wiped black blood from his chin. The runes on his armor glowed brightly to heal his damaged tissue.
“You possess strange tricks for a human,” the Fleet Commander growled.
“I have plenty more,” Xavier smiled.
Xavier dashed through the shattered blast doors to finish the fight. The Fleet Commander swung his broadsword in a sweeping arc.
Xavier ducked under the blade and channeled his Golden Authority into his right fist. Starlight mixed with void energy to form a localized singularity. He drove his fist directly into the Commander’s wounded chest, expanding the localized black hole inside the demon’s ribcage.
The beast screamed as his internal organs collapsed inward. Xavier ripped his arm free and watched the commander crumble into ash. Back in the corridor, Rin decapitated his opponent while Kylus sliced the second lieutenant in half with his thermal cutter.
The prison block’s exterior wall buckled and tore open under sustained artillery fire. Xavier walked to the broken edge and looked out over the Dead World’s surface. Hundreds of colossal warships blotted out the sky.
Countless drop pods rained down upon the plains. The bay doors of the grounded dreadnoughts opened wide to unleash an ocean of Demonic Society soldiers. Hundreds of thousands of armored beasts marched forward with weapons raised.
The sheer numbers defied all logic.
Rin stood beside Xavier and looked at the endless horde. “Do you have any more tricks left in your pocket?”
Kylus gripped his thermal cutter tightly. “We are going to need a miracle.”
Xavier cracked his knuckles and summoned Serpent’s Fang. “Save your own skin. I will handle the frontline.”
He launched himself off the torn metal ledge and plummeted toward the advancing army. He hit the ground hard enough to fracture the obsidian rock.
A squad of shielded demons charged him immediately. Xavier snapped his wrist to extend Serpent’s Fang, sending the bladed chain tearing through their shields to separate their torsos from their legs.
Rin dropped into the fray a second later. He unleashed a master-level sword art, radiating brilliant silver light from his twin blades to form a spinning vortex of razor-edged energy. He carved a path through the enemy ranks, severing limbs and weapons with terrifying precision.
Kylus roared and overloaded his thermal cutter. The blade glowed a blinding orange as he unleashed a wave of superheated plasma. The scorching heat melted demonic armor and incinerated hundreds of soldiers in a single sweeping blast.
Xavier poured millions of credits into the Grave Indexer. He fired continuous volleys of pure financial ruin, erasing entire battalions and cratering the landscape.
He combined his telekinesis with his draconic void magic to lift dozens of armored transports off the ground and crushed them into tight metal spheres and hurled them back into the enemy armada.
