First Immortal of the Sword

Chapter 3080 - One Step, an Instant Shift

The backlash of the natural order of destiny had fallen apart. The gray-robed elder had arrived at a critical juncture, just in time to neutralize it. Mo Hanyi, meanwhile, had been annihilated with a wave of a dark-robed Daoist’s sleeve!

This development happened out of nowhere, and it was beyond Su Yi’s expectations.

Heavenly Sovereign Qingyi and the others were flabbergasted. Their eyes widened with shock. How... is this possible?

Mo Hanyi was a terrifying existence in his own right, and he laughed in the face of death, proud and arrogant. He’d been willing to die if it meant taking his opponent down with him, but now, he couldn’t even aim for mutual destruction. Someone had effortlessly snuffed him out!

This bloody spectacle made Heavenly Sovereign Qingyi and the River Ancestors’ hearts shake. Their hearts filled with grief and fury.

Su Yi stood there, as calm as ever, save for the irrepressible fury blazing in the depths of his gaze.

This was his first time sending Mo Hanyi into battle. The Sovereign Preceptor hadn’t let him down, either. Even in the face of an expert of the Far Shore, he never shrank back. He’d given it his all. Su Yi wouldn’t have criticized him for not being able to defeat his opponent, but Mo Hanyi had chosen to risk his life. He never hesitated, either!

His boldness moved even Su Yi, who couldn’t help but admire him. His impression of the Sovereign Preceptor of the Negative Karma Destiny Demons had changed for the better. But Su Yi wouldn’t have guessed that someone would kill Mo Hanyi out of nowhere!

Indescribable fury gathered deep within Su Yi’s chest. These old bastards obviously don’t take the Secluded Ones’ rules the least bit seriously! Otherwise, why would they keep showing up like this? And how could Mo Hanyi have died?

Heaven and earth returned to stillness. The terrifying visions silently vanished from overhead.

The old man in gray waved his hand through the air, and the black talisman floated into his palm. He then turned his head to frown at the dark-robed Daoist.

“Guan Shui, why kill him? How am I supposed to explain myself to the Secluded Ones now?” said the old man, his expression dark.

The dark-robed man said apologetically, “Please don’t be angry, Martial Uncle. I did it to save someone, and I didn’t expect that guy to be so weak. He couldn’t block so much as a brush of my sleeve.”

The old man in gray sighed. “Touching the Laws of Destiny has provoked the Laws of the surrounding area. There... will be no hiding this.”

The dark-robed man said, “The Secluded Ones would love to see us capture the reincarnation of the Big Boss of Sword Sovereign City. Who’ll make trouble for Three Purities Temple?”

A mocking smile tugged at his lips. “The Big Boss’s heart devil? Hah! He can’t stir up any waves to speak of!”

The old man in gray fell silent, his expression shifting and uncertain.

The dark-robed Daoist said, “Martial Uncle, you needn’t worry about this. Rules are dead, and people are alive. It’s already happened. What need is there to worry about the rest? Surely you don’t think the Mountain of the Secluded Ones will refuse to give Three Purities Temple face?”

The old man let out a deep sigh, then took out a talisman. “Very well. I’ll explain the situation to the Mountain of the Secluded Ones.”

The dark-robed Daoist smiled. “I’m sure there’ll be nothing to worry about with you here to oversee things.”

He suddenly turned to look at Su Yi. He smiled. “This humble Daoist is called Guan Shui of the Supreme Purity Lineage. Ling Jue is my disciple, and it was I who founded the Lower Court of Three Purities Temple.”

As he spoke, he took a step forward, overturning heaven and earth and throwing space into disarray.

Meanwhile, he appeared just a few dozen feet from Su Yi. There was no describing how terrifying his presence was as he locked firmly onto Su Yi.

This was the disparity in their cultivations. It was far too great. Even though Su Yi was capable of clashing with Heavenly Sovereigns, his essence, qi, and spirit seemed too weak and ineffectual to block even a single hit. He’d been completely suppressed!

Heavenly Sovereign Qingyi and the River Ancestors were even more astonished. They couldn’t move a muscle. They lacked the strength to even extend a finger.

We’re finished! Their hearts sank into the pits of their stomachs. Who in the Eternal Heavens Domain would have been a match for this terrifying expert of the Far Shore?

The middle-aged Daoist watched from a distance. A massive weight lifted from his shoulders.

Mo Hanyi’s determination in the face of death had stunned him, while the following backlash from the Laws of Destiny had made him panic. Fortunately, his master had arrived at a critical juncture! He’d even brought the dark-robed Daoist with him. Together, they were enough to turn the tide.

Given the circumstances, there was no way Su Yi would escape disaster this time!

“Blood for blood. It’s perfectly just and natural,” said Guan Shui, gazing at Su Yi like a dragon staring down at an ant. “It’s time you paid for your crimes with your life!”

He stretched out his hand and was just about to do something when... Boom!

An endlessly tyrannical sealed power descended like a blazing sun, slamming into Guan Shui’s heart. This was the Seal of Light, the strongest power on the second page of the Book of Destiny.

Even though Su Yi’s essence, qi, and spirit had been suppressed, the power of his heart remained. That was what had enabled him to fight back.

But much to Su Yi’s dismay, that strike... wasn’t enough to overcome his predicament!

Guan Shui, the dark-robed Daoist, just let out a muffled grunt and staggered on his feet before quickly neutralizing the Seal of Light.

He looked at Su Yi in surprise. “What terrifying heart power. Don’t tell me you’ve already ignited your Natal Heart Lamp?”

His Natal Heart Lamp? The middle-aged Daoist’s heart shook.

That level of attainment was rare even on the Far Shore of Destiny. Even in progenitor-level factions, only a select handful of old monsters had such powerful hearts!

Who could have imagined that this young Immeasurable Realm sword cultivator would possess such an unbelievably powerful heart?

“You really are the reincarnation of the Big Boss of Sword Sovereign City,” Guan Shui said with a sigh.

Before his voice had even finished echoing through the air, he attacked out of nowhere.

Immeasurable divine radiance condensed in midair, forming startling divine chains, each like a slithering spirit serpent. All of them wrapped around Su Yi. The power of the Laws emanating from them restricted his cultivation, essence, qi, spirit, and even his soul.

Su Yi used his secret power of the heart to fight back, but he still couldn’t really shake Guan Shui.

The dark-robed Daoist was far, far stronger than the middle-aged Daoist, Ling Jue. His heart was repeatedly taking explosive blows, but he managed to block them all, one by one.

“Success! You’re now no more than a fish on the chopping block. All you can do is wait for us to slaughter you as we please,” Guan Shui said with a smile. He raised his finger, then pressed down on Su Yi’s forehead. ℴ

Determination ignited in the depths of Su Yi’s gaze, and deep within his sea of consciousness, the Sword of the Nine Hells shook.

Within the Book of Destiny, the clones of the Monarch of Endless Tribulations and the Buddha of Non-Existence shot to their feet. Within his heart, his Heart Soul seemed to burn as it took hold of the Blade of Heaven’s Loathing.

The Bodhi Leaf had remained still all this time, but now, it silently lit up. He was putting all of his hidden cards into play all at once.

But it was then that a dazzling arc of light appeared in the Eternal Heavens Domain and shot into the cloudy dome of heaven. The Laws were instantly plunged into upheaval, surging like turbulent waves.

Throughout heaven, earth, and the Four Seas... strange, unbelievable visions of calamity appeared overhead. A tribulation of destiny was upon them.

A delicate figure emerged from Divine Reverence Pavilion. She took a step forward, and time and space were thrown into chaos as she passed through the Eternal Heavens Domain and the boundless Southern Sea.

By the time her foot landed, she was already in the Sea of Fate. A single step had carried her over endless distances.

The old man in gray looked stricken. His black talisman had severed the backlash of destiny, and it should have obscured the entire area. But when the woman appeared, the black talisman cracked and split overhead.

Guan Shui stiffened as if startled. His right hand had been mere inches from Su Yi’s forehead, only for sharp light to appear out of nowhere and sever it at the wrist. Fresh blood splattered the air, and his hand went flying.

Guan Shui’s hair stood on end, and he retreated explosively.

Practically simultaneously, that delicate figure appeared beside Su Yi. She wore a plain dress, and her features were clear, tranquil, and beautiful. Her dark hair was tied into a loose bun. Even just standing there casually, she seemed as serene as water and as soft as a cloud.

It looked like she’d appeared silently, but her arrival startled the entire Eternal Heavens Domain. A terrifying tribulation of destiny churned overhead.

That step across endless time and space had left a deep, lingering spacetime rift in its wake!

Few in this world could possibly have understood how someone could cross the Eternal Heavens Domain and arrive in the Sea of Fate in a single step.

Moreover, she destroyed the old man’s black talisman and severed Guan Shui’s right hand as soon as she arrived!

All of it happened in a flash, so quickly that even Su Yi was unwittingly stunned. He blinked, then recognized her. This was Ruo Su, a disciple of Fangchun Mountain!

“If I’d known you were involved in this shifting of the Laws, I would never have let you face such danger, Fellow Daoist,” Ruo Su said apologetically.

She waved her hand, dissolving the seal on Su Yi. The chains restricting his cultivation, body, and soul crumbled and dissipated.

Even the invisible pressure bearing down on Hua Qingyi and the two River Ancestors vanished as if it had never existed at all.

Su Yi had been saved from the brink of death, and he struggled to stay calm. “Don’t tell me that when I activated the Bodhi Leaf...”

Ruo Su inclined her head. “I started paying attention when I sensed the disturbance in the Laws. It was only when I sensed the leaf that I realized something wasn’t right, so I rushed over.”

Su Yi couldn’t help but feel stunned. Barely an instant had passed between him taking out the leaf and Ruo Su arriving on the scene. Did she really get here from so far away in an instant?

Heavenly Sovereign Qingyi and the two River Ancestors were stunned.

Further away, the old man, Guan Shui, and Ling Jue watched, their expressions as unsightly as could be. All of them were startled.

She arrived in a flash, inviting a tribulation of destiny felt across the whole world. Who is this woman?

How high must her cultivation be for her to behave so fearlessly? Don’t tell me she really isn’t afraid of a backlash from the Laws of Destiny?

Meanwhile, Ruo Su looked at Su Yi and said gently, “Fellow Daoist, please rest for now. I’ll kill them for you.”

Before her voice had even finished echoing through the air, she threw back her head, faced the chaotic tribulation, and said softly, “Mountain of the Secluded Ones, I demand an explanation!”
