First Immortal of the Sword

Chapter 2999 - Making a Grand Entrance

Threats were only intimidating if you were strong. The threats of a weakling were no more than jokes.

Thus, the Heavenly Sovereigns couldn’t help but laugh. What need did dragons have to fear the threats of mere ants?

Of course, Su Yi wasn’t really an ant, but in the eyes of the Heavenly Sovereigns, he might as well have been.

Yu Xiu, Lu Sang, Liu Wutian, and the others’ gazes were pitying. All of them knew how seamless this trap was. There was no way that Su Yi could escape.

At a time like this, no matter how Su Yi shouted or threatened, he seemed laughable and pathetic. His threats were no use at all. On the contrary, they’d only make others look down on him!

Wang Zhiwu silently clenched his fists. He understood Su Yi’s character, and he knew that Su Yi hadn’t been joking.

Admittedly, the Heavenly Sovereigns dismissed his threats as a joke, but Wang Zhiwu knew that if Su Yi survived this, they and their factions would pay the price.

Of course, that was on the precondition that Su Yi managed to survive this.

“You really think you’ll survive this, let alone live long enough to crush our territories? Ha! Hahaha!” Heavenly Sovereign Wen could no longer hold back his uproarious laughter. “Su Yi, do you really think having a few cards up your sleeves means you’ll be able to escape calamity this time, too?”

The other Heavenly Sovereigns laughed along, their gazes playful.

Su Yi could tell that none of them believed him, but then, he wasn’t looking for them to believe him. He’d said all that in “preparation” for when he cut the Heavenly Sovereigns down!

Heavenly Sovereign Wen’s smile suddenly faded, and his gaze frosted over. He said slowly and clearly, “You’re mistaken! No matter what cards you play, no one in this world can save you now!”

His voice went off like a thunderclap, booming throughout heaven and earth. The whole sky shook.

“Oh?” said Su Yi. “Try it, then.”

Boom!

As this light, airy declaration rang out, the sealed stretch of heaven and earth shook violently.

The seven Heavenly Sovereigns’ formation suffered a heavy impact and swayed violently.

Everyone was stunned. All of them could see waves rising on the River of Destiny, beyond the bounds of the formation. The waves ruthlessly assailed the formation as if trying to break through it.

The current of the River of Destiny was full of terrifying, destructive power. If they were pulled into it, even Heavenly Sovereigns would be doomed.

This sudden scene made the Heavenly Sovereigns’ eyelids twitch, but before they could respond... Kaboom!

A massive hole tore through the formation, letting in the current. The coursing waters of the River of Destiny filled the area, and in the end, the formation split into pieces.

Everyone was now exposed to the River of Destiny. The arena collapsed beneath its fierce current.

It was then that everyone finally saw the source of the disturbance. A group had emerged from the River of Destiny.

The two leaders were the most terrifying. One was a man in red robes, the other, a thin elder in gray. Both of them emanated auras not one whit weaker than a Heavenly Sovereign’s!

The Heavenly Sovereigns frowned. This must be Su Yi’s backup plan!

“Fellow Daoist Su, forgive us for not arriving earlier!” said the thin elder, clasping his fist. The red-robed man smiled and nodded at Su Yi, too.

These were none other than River Ancestor Shen Xiao and River Ancestor Lu Shu!

River Empress Peacock, the Star Toad, and several others stood behind them.

Su Yi smiled back. “I’m sorry to trouble you.”

“Fellow Daoist Su, you’re too polite. Here in the River of Destiny, there’s no way we’d just stand back and watch as others bullied you!” said River Ancestor Shen Xiao, glancing at the Heavenly Sovereigns without the slightest friendliness.

He recognized the Heavenly Sovereigns. They were quite familiar, too.

But that didn’t mean anything.

Wang Zhiwu’s heart swelled with emotion. He’d explored the River of Destiny recently, and he was similarly acquainted with River Ancestors Shen Xiao and Lu Shu.

But he wouldn’t have guessed that Su Yi had long since made contact with them, or that they’d show up at this critical juncture!

“And here I thought you’d asked someone strong for help. It turns out that they’re just a handful of creepy crawlies,” Heavenly Sovereign Wen said with a cold laugh. “Were we beneath the surface of the river, we’d have to be cautious of them, but here, they can forget about saving your life with their measly abilities!”

Beneath the River of Destiny, River Ancestors were indeed troublesome, but if they left the water, there was no way they’d be a match for the Heavenly Sovereigns.

The reverse was also true; the Heavenly Sovereigns would be no match for the River of Ancestors in the water.

The Heavenly Sovereigns were surprised to see Shen Xiao and Lu Shu, but they weren’t that surprised.

Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan said coldly, “And what would you do if Fellow Daoist Su and I fled into the River of Destiny?”

The Heavenly Sovereigns’ expressions darkened. That was what they were now most worried about. If Su Yi and Ku Xuan fought with all their might, none of them were confident they could stop them from making it into the river.

This variable had indeed caught the Heavenly Sovereigns off guard, and all of them resented it.

“I understand. Ku Xuan was planning this from the moment he chose this location for the Struggle for Heavenly Fate!” Heavenly Sovereign Ling growled.

“You overestimate me,” Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan said calmly. Inwardly, he was delighted. “All of this is Fellow Daoist Su’s doing.”

He, too, had only just realized why Su Yi had chosen to hold the competition here.

“Well, how about it? Do you plan to keep fighting?” asked Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan, his gaze provocative.

The formation had already broken, and they were now directly over the water. He and Su Yi could flee into the River of Destiny whenever they wanted.

They’d effectively found a way out of this!

“Don’t celebrate prematurely, Ku Xuan,” said Heavenly Sovereign E, breaking his silence out of nowhere. His gaze was mocking. “This death trap isn’t as simple as you seem to think!”

He looked at Bo Yunjun. “Fellow Daoist, the situation has changed. Please lend us a hand!”

Bo Yunjun subtly nodded, then looked at Yu Xiu, Lu Sang, and the other aces. “Everyone, at this point, you shouldn’t hide any longer either. We can’t let Fellow Daoist Su think the people of the Far Shore of Destiny are inept!”

“Very well.”

“Alright.”

Yu Xiu and the others nodded, one by one.

The sight filled Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan with foreboding. Su Yi’s brow furrowed, and Wang Zhiwu looked stricken.

Meanwhile, River Ancestors Shen Xiao and Lu Shu exchanged glances, their expressions instantly solemn. The Far Shore of Destiny? Don’t tell me...

It was then that something unexpected happened.

A massive spacetime portal appeared beneath the dome of heaven. A rain of light interwove, and a middle-aged man with snow-white robes, a tall crown, and a feather fan emerged from the portal.

He scanned the crowd, then smiled faintly. “Forgive me for showing up uninvited.”

His voice was like the clear ringing of a bell, full of a power that touched the heart directly.

The Heavenly Sovereigns’ expressions shifted slightly. All of them felt terrifying pressure.

The middle-aged man in white’s aura was just too lofty and transcendent. He had an unfettered, natural charm about him, but it was so intense that even Heavenly Sovereigns felt as if they could only gaze upon him from afar.

“Mo Zhong of the Academy’s Hall of Discipline!” Mu Yu’s gaze focused as he hurriedly explained Mo Zhong’s origins to Wang Zhiwu. Mo Zhong was a prominent expert from the Confucian progenitor-level faction of the Far Shore of Destiny, an institution known only as the Academy!”

A chill coursed through Wang Zhiwu’s heart. The Heavenly Sovereigns were already enough to plunge him into despair, yet now, a terrifying expert from the Far Shore had shown up. Fuck... isn’t this just too much?

Without any further hesitation, Wang Zhiwu transmitted information about Mo Zhong’s identity to Su Yi and warned him to be careful.

Su Yi’s eyes narrowed, and he subtly inclined his head to indicate his understanding.

“Martial Uncle!” Bo Yunjun approached and bowed to Mo Zhong.

Heavenly Sovereign E approached, smiled, and clasped his fist. “We’ll have to trouble you, Daoist Brother!”

Mo Zhong smiled and returned the greeting.

Meanwhile, someone else emerged from the spacetime portal. He was a fair-skinned man with golden eyes and purple robes. As soon as he appeared, his incomparably dense, baleful aura filled the sky.

He smiled and scanned the area. “It’s indeed quite lively. I hope I didn’t come all this way and risk a backlash from the Laws of Destiny for nothing.”

The atmosphere was increasingly stifled, as the purple-robed man’s aura was strong enough to make heaven and earth quiver. All who faced him felt a powerful sense of oppression, as if disaster were imminent.

“Young Master, that’s Libationer Ning Chang of the Sect of the Origin!” Mu Yu transmitted, his expression grave.

Another one!? Wang Zhiwu’s heart felt tied up in knots. He instinctively passed this information on to Su Yi.

Su Yi said nothing. He just watched as one figure after another emerged from the spacetime portal.

There was a seemingly youthful Daoist with a lotus crown, a sword case, and wide-sleeved robes. His Daoist Title was Zhen Jia, and he was from Three Purities Temple’s Greater Purity Sect.

There was a beautiful woman with hair cropped just beneath her ears. Her eyes were as cold and sharp as daggers, and she had a silver serpent imprint on her forehead.

This was Panwu Qing from the Panwu Family.

There was also a sickly, sallow old man with disheveled hair and a tangled beard. He carried a long-stemmed pipe.

This was Sui Song, an elder from the Xiantian Ancestral Court, a Demonist faction of the Far Shore.

Then there was a middle-aged woman in colorful clothes. She stood on a blood-red altar, holding a lightning talisman.

This was Madam Lingrun, a Dharma Protector of Hongmeng Daoist Court!

One legendary figure after another arrived, all of them gathering atop the River of Destiny. Their lineup was so powerful that it put immense pressure on even Heavenly Monarchs.

Just too terrifying!

These were all experts from the Far Shore. All of them had broken the shackles of Destiny and the barriers of Eternity. Their cultivations were naturally far beyond the Heavenly Sovereigns.

But this was the River of Destiny, and the Heavenly Sovereigns had Eternal Thrones. Unless these experts of the Far Shore threw all caution to the wind and disregarded the threat of a backlash, they couldn’t defeat the Heavenly Sovereigns, either.

Even so, watching Mo Zhong, Chang Ning, Zhen Jia, Panwu Qing, Sui Song, and Madam Lingrun arrive in rapid succession and witnessing their sheer majesty and momentum was enough to make one give in to despair!
