First Immortal of the Sword

Chapter 2800 - Are You Going to Kill Yourself, or Should I Help You?

Chapter 2800 – Are You Going to Kill Yourself, or Should I Help You?

Earlier, while Wu Xun threatened Su Yi in several different ways, Miss Baa Baa Black Sheep quietly refined the broken saber sealed beneath the Star Grave.

She also taught Su Yi the secret incantation that would let him wield it.

That was what let Su Yi slaughter his enemies so easily.

Dense clouds of calamitous power hung overhead. The broken saber quivered, and within moments, it shattered into countless fragments.

The dense, calamitous clouds vanished with it.

“It’s a pity about the broken saber,” transmitted Miss Baa Baa Black Sheep. “If fixed, a Heavenly Sovereign could have refined it into a Sovereign-level weapon.”

There was no disguising the wistfulness in her voice.

They’d killed those Heavenly Sovereigns, but they’d lost a grand stroke of good fortune in the process. In her eyes, it wasn’t worth the cost.

But Su Yi thought nothing of it. Good fortune, that’s all. It was ultimately external.

Besides, he was no saber cultivator. Even if he’d acquired the broken saber, it would have done him no good.

“Now that I’ve killed them, the spoils of war are the best ‘good fortune’ of all,” Su Yi responded with a laugh.

There’d been sixteen legacy disciples of Limitless Palace, plus their Dao Protectors. Their belongings represented an absolutely astronomical sum.

“Useless,” grumbled Miss Baa Baa Black Sheep before sinking back into silence.

Su Yi turned, beckoned to Fu Lingyun, and said, “Do me a favor. Gather the spoils. When you’re done, we’ll split them!”

She smiled sweetly. “Awesome!”

There was no getting around it; as scatterbrained as she seemed, there was one precious quality she had that most others lacked—she accepted reality calmly!

The earlier battle had been so astonishing that Yun Qiaojun, Xiao Chi, and the others were still standing there in a daze.

But Fu Lingyun had already moved on. All she knew was that her Senior Apprentice Brother Li had won!

Why worry about anything else?

Thus, she was all too delighted to get to work.

Su Yi, meanwhile, took out a jug of wine, then turned to look at his companions.

Yun Qiaojun and the others’ Dao Protectors’ stiffened, their expressions shifting.

On their way here, none of them had taken Li Muchen at all seriously; they’d taken him for just another junior.

Who’d dare to disregard him now?

Especially Xiao Chi’s Dao Protector. The old man’s heart beat like a drum. He was overcome with unease.

Earlier, Lian Yue of the Court of the Southern Heavens appeared and offered Su Yi a deal. At the time, the old man in the feather coat urged him to accept her offer. His suggestion had been outwardly well-intentioned, but in truth, he said all that to impress Lian Yue.

But Su Yi refused!

His refusal deeply displeased the man in the feather coat, and he’d thought poorly of Li Muchen ever since.

Seeing Wu Xun and the other Limitless Palace experts massacred had left the old man thoroughly terrified. He was most afraid that Li Muchen would seize the opportunity to get even with him!

Worse, before the battle began, his charge, Xiao Chi, took it upon himself to draw a line between him and Li Muchen.

He’d even come dangerously close to heeding Wu Xun’s suggestion and attacking Li Muchen!

His behavior was obviously far too offensive. If Li Muchen chose to pursue the insult, neither Xiao Chi nor the old man in the feather coat would be able to bear the consequences!

The atmosphere was stifled.

Yun Qiaojun had a complicated look on his face. He finally understood why his junior apprentice brother, Liu Tianchen, had warned him that Li Muchen wasn’t simple. Li Muchen was very, very strong.

Wu Xun was the heaven-defying monster in sixteenth place in the Unfettered Ranking, as well as a legacy disciple of Limitless Palace. How dazzling of an existence was he?

Yet Li Muchen had crushed him like an ant. Even his companions had been wiped out down to the last man!

Prior to this, although Yun Qiaojun had respected Li Muchen, he still saw him as a fellow Unfettered Realm cultivator.

Now, he suddenly realized that the two of them belonged to completely different worlds!

They weren’t even remotely comparable to each other!

Wen Xiuran lowered her head in silence.

Liu Tianchen was the calmest of the group. He was there when Su Yi killed Xue Sheng, so although he was astonished, he accepted it relatively quickly.

Xiao Chi let out a long sigh, then walked up of his own accord. “Li Muchen, if you’re going to kill me, just go ahead and do it.”

It seemed he had a lot to say, and he was clearly agitated. “But even now, I don’t think I did anything wrong!”

He stared intently at Su Yi and shouted, “It’s true that you’re strong, and you might not be afraid of Limitless Palace’s reprisal, but… It’s different for me! I couldn’t disregard Wu Xun’s threats because I have a sect, a family, and friends.

“Had I offended Wu Xun, I wouldn’t have been the only one to die. Everyone I cared about would have died with me!”

Xiao Chi’s eyes were bloodshot, and it sounded like he was venting. “Especially since we’ve only known each other for a few days! There’s nothing between us! Why should I have to stand beside you? Why shouldn’t I draw a line between us?

“Also! You’ve been hiding your true strength this entire time. If you really thought of us as your fellow Daoists and companions, why not just tell us that you could handle this situation?”

His chest heaved with anger. “You realize that even if we’d lost to Wu Xun, we would, at most, have been disqualified, right?

“It’s because of you that Wu Xun threatened us! Aren’t you the real villain here?

“Now, Wu Xun and the others are dead. There’s no way that Limitless Palace will just let this go. They’re sure to seek reprisal, and when they do, you might be fine, but what about us?

“We didn’t do anything, but do you think Limitless Palace will listen to reason? They won’t! They’re sure to vent their fury on us, and all of our sects will pay the price!”

His voice was full of deep-seated hatred. “You caused this disaster, Li Muchen!’

His voice boomed throughout heaven and earth.

The others’ hearts quivered just listening to him. None of them had anticipated that Xiao Chi would criticize Li Muchen like this.

But it was also obvious that Xiao Chi wasn’t the least bit afraid to die, and he wasn’t willing to hide how he really felt.

“Nonsense!” Mo Lanhe bristled with anger. “The primary culprit is obviously Wu Xun, so why are you just criticizing Fellow Daoist Li for implicating you? What kind of logic is that?

“A bad person acted as he pleased, and it scared you. You felt aggrieved, but you knelt and wagged your tail like a dog, and you seem to think that’s only just and proper!

“Yet you seem to think that a good man… deserves your enmity and accusations.”

Mo Lanhe’s whole body erupted with murderous intent. “If you were a disciple of my Blueleaf Sword Sect, I’d slap you to death!”

Xiao Chi laughed coldly. “Just you wait, Mo Lanhe. I hope you still feel that way when Limitless Palace cleanses the entire Blueleaf Sect!

Mo Lanhe’s face was ashen with anger. He really wouldn’t have guessed that the second-ranked Unfettered Realm cultivator in the Literati Continent would be so foolish and so incapable of distinguishing between good and evil.

“You’re wrong, Xiao Chi!” Yun Qiaojun suddenly interjected. “First, it was Wu Xun who threatened those close to us, not Fellow Daoist Li!”

Xiao Chi was just about to argue when Yun Qiaojun continued, “Second, if Limitless Palace targets our sects and families in the name of retribution, that will be on them, not Fellow Daoist Li!

“Third, as you said, there’s no bond between us and Fellow Daoist Li. He killed Wu Xun and his companions, yes, but what does that have to do with you? Who are you to say that Fellow Daoist Li hurt you?”

Yun Qiaojun’s eyes were full of deep-seated despair. “I had no idea that you were this kind of person!”

Xiao Chi said coldly, “Yun Qiaojun, you’re welcome to explain all that to Limitless Palace when they seek revenge, but they won’t listen!”

He turned and pointed at Fu Lingyun, who was still gathering the spoils. “Let me make things perfectly clear. Thanks to Li Muchen, your Light Beam Sword Pavilion will be the first sect Limitless Palace destroys!”

“Mo Lanhe’s Blueleaf Sword Sect, and all of our orthodoxies, will pay for this, too!” Xiao Chi said slowly and clearly, “If you don’t believe me, just wait!”

The others’ expressions shifted.

Would Limitless Palace seek revenge?

Probably! But they were responsible for their own bad behavior!

Should they really turn their anger and blame on Li Muchen just because they didn’t dare to provoke Limitless Palace?

No!

Of course, they knew that although Xiao Chi was being unreasonable, he was right about one thing. When Limitless Palace sought revenge, they wouldn’t listen to reason, either.

Su Yi just watched quietly as they argued. He wasn’t particularly angry; there were plenty of people like Xiao Chi in this world.

Su Yi took a sip of wine, then finally spoke. “I can tell you a way to ensure that neither your sect nor your friends and family will be implicated.”

Xiao Chi laughed coldly. “Is that possible?”

“Give me your Nine Luminaries Medallion,” said Su Yi. “Then, I’ll kill you and make sure everyone in Limitless Palace knows that you died avenging Wu Xun and the others’ deaths. That will solve all of your problems.”

The others were stunned, but when they thought about it, Li Muchen was right. If Xiao Chi did that, he really wouldn’t have to worry about Limitless Palace destroying those he cared about.

Xiao Chi’s expression shifted erratically.

Su Yi continued, “It’s even entirely possible that when Limitless Palace learns of your heroic sacrifice, they’ll reward your sect and loved ones. That would be a wonderful thing, now wouldn’t it?”

Xiao Chi’s expression was unsightly. “Do you think Limitless Palace is stupid?”

Su Yi said calmly, “Die here, and they’ll believe it! Even if they don’t, there’s no way they’ll make any further trouble for your sect and loved ones, right?”

The atmosphere was instantly stifled. All eyes were on Xiao Chi.

Xiao Chi’s face was ashen, and his eyes were bloodshot. He stood there in silence for a long time.

“Are you afraid?” asked Su Yi. “You only just said you weren’t afraid to die, and that if I was going to kill you, I should just go ahead and do it. So why is it that you’re suddenly too afraid to sacrifice yourself so that your sect, family, and friends might live?”

The others looked conflicted, but Mo Lanhe found this deeply satisfying. This is how you handle someone like Xiao Chi!

Xiao Chi’s Dao Protector, the old man in the feather coat, shouted, “Xiao Chi, what are you doing? Lower your head and apologize already!”

“What did I do wrong?” Xiao Chi roared.

Suddenly dazzling sword light enveloped his entire body.

Practically simultaneously, Su Yi appeared beside him, raised his hand, and seized Xiao Chi’s Nine Luminaries Medallion.

Xiao Chi stiffened as if he’d been struck by lightning, then broke down and shouted, “Give it back!”

Su Yi sent him flying with a kick, then issued an ultimatum. “For the sake of your sect, friends, and family, you must kill yourself.

“Refuse, and I’ll help you kill yourself. Decide for yourself!”
