Chapter 2641 - A Sudden Streak of Saber Light
Chapter 2641 – A Sudden Streak of Saber Light
The Central Divine Continent was in chaos.
Strange catastrophes had arisen throughout the God Domain, and violent conflict and bloodshed broke out frequently.
Su Yi did the math and, in just one hour, he encountered eight bloody battles.
All of them were over treasure!
Po Xue took it in calmly.
The Central Divine Continent was once the most prosperous place in the God Domain, but the Great Extinguishing had buried all of its past glories. At the same time, it had left behind countless strokes of good fortune just waiting to be discovered.
It was no exaggeration to say that every orthodoxy that had fallen back then represented numerous relics and opportunities now up for grabs!
This was why so much good fortune had appeared in the Central Divine Continent.
Whoosh!
Another Fragment of Heaven’s Will whooshed in from beneath the dome of heaven, then floated before Su Yi.
Su Yi raised his hand and grabbed it. The fragment was just third-tier, and it instantly vanished into one of his storage treasures.
The yellow-robed Gu Qi’s heart churned. He suddenly felt numb.
Po Xue looked stunned and uncertain. This was already the fourth Fragment of Heaven’s Will that had thrown itself into Su Yi’s arms.
The first time it happened, Po Xue and Gu Qi found it astonishing and unbelievable, but by now, they’d grown accustomed to it.
After all, the more often something happened… the less strange it became.
Still, they were increasingly certain that “Huang Qianjun” was blessed by fate, the chosen son of fortune. His good luck was simply unparalleled!
“Luck is indeed impossible to fathom,” said Gu Qi.
Some people could choke to death just trying to drink a sip of water, while others could lie down as good fortune rained down on them from the heavens. What logic was there to speak of?
Those who cultivated the Dao understood the importance of fate.
In Gu Qi’s eyes, Su Yi was extraordinarily blessed, the type to make others die of sheer envy.
“Some people are hated by gods and ghosts and rejected by the heavens themselves, while others are the chosen sons of fortune, heaven’s favored children. This is fortune. You cannot imitate him,” sighed Po Xue.
Who in this world could control their own fortune?
Not even those Eternals who’d stepped onto the River of Destiny would dare to proclaim that they’d mastered their own fortune!
Su Yi just smiled in response. What luck? What fortune? Such things were far too fleeting and immaterial.
If everything was predetermined by fate, why speak of cultivating to defy the heavens and change your destiny?
“Senior, how much longer until we reach Red Pine Mountain?” Gu Qi couldn’t help but ask.
Po Xue pondered briefly. “At full speed, it’ll take a month at the bare minimum.”
Gu Qi was stunned. “A month?”
Given their cultivations, they could traverse ten thousand miles in an instant, yet they’d still need at least a month to reach Red Pine Mountain. It was immediately obvious just how far away Red Pine Mountain was.
“You aren’t from the Central Divine Continent. You naturally don’t understand just how big it really is,” sighed Po Xue. “The other four Divine Continents are quite big too, but even added together, they’re less than half the size of the Central Divine Continent.
“Back in the day, when we old-timers went out on business, we needed to use teleportation arrays. Every major sect had one, as did major cities.”
Gu Qi couldn’t help but cluck his tongue. The Central Divine Continent was seriously that enormous?
A month, huh…? That’s actually pretty good timing, thought Su Yi.
About two months remained until the Battle for Order. All was well so long as he arrived before it began.
Su Yi wasn’t in a rush, either. The Central Divine Continent contained an enormous number of secrets and opportunities.
Disregarding the rest, it had far more Fragments of Heaven’s Will than the other Divine Continents.
Su Yi planned to seize this opportunity to gather some. Even if he couldn’t use them, he could give them to his friends.
Just as he was pondering, yet another grand battle broke out in the distance.
Except that this battle was far greater than the others, both in terms of scale and in terms of the strength of its combatants.
All of them were Undying Realm Master Gods!
The entire landscape was completely enveloped in a searingly bright flood of destructive power.
“They’re fighting over a first-tier Fragment of Heaven’s Will!” exclaimed Gu Qi.
To the vast majority of Master Gods, acquiring even a single first-tier Fragment of Heaven’s Will was like gaining a chance at Eternity!
Of course, it was still just a chance. There was no guarantee that they could successfully seize their opportunity to prove their Daos and walk the path of Eternity.
Even so, a chance like that was enough to make just about any Master God red-eyed with greed.
A while back, Su Yi refined a supreme Fragment of Heaven’s Will in the territories of Five Lightning Temple. Doing so had helped the Epoch Spark sprout and grow roots. He understood the power of the Fragments of Heaven’s Will on a visceral level.
First-tier fragments might not have compared to supreme fragments, but they were still rare and precious treasures.
Po Xue couldn’t help but glance at Su Yi and smile. “Don’t worry. If even that first-tier Fragment of Heaven’s Will throws itself into your arms, I guarantee that none of those Master Gods will hurt a hair on your head.”
He spoke with staunch conviction.
He’d only just said this when the fragment suddenly broke free of a Master God’s grip, shot through the sky, and hurtled straight toward Su Yi.
This scene stunned all of the Master Gods locked in fierce combat. All of them were gobsmacked.
“Who could possibly be so brazen as to play such a trick right under our noses?”
“Whoever they are, they’re courting death!”
The Master Gods instantly charged at Su Yi.
But then, Po Xue snorted coldly and took a step forward.
Boom!
A streak of sword qi rose, connecting heaven and earth. Glittering blue sword light illuminated thirty thousand miles of landscape.
That sword force bore down on the sky, creating sudden waves of power.
The Master Gods stiffened, then stopped in place, beads of sweat forming on their foreheads. That’s a Half-Step Eternal!!
Po Xue pointed into the distance. “Leave!”
The Master Gods exchanged glances, but as bitter as they felt, none of them dared to disobey. They just turned to leave.
Gu Qi couldn’t help but applaud and sigh. Then, he suddenly turned to Su Yi and said, “My young friend, it seems to me that you’d best entrust that first-tier fragment to Senior Po Xue. After all, had he not intervened, you could never have held onto that treasure.”
When Su Yi heard that, he raised his eyebrows and said flatly, “There’s no greater taboo than generosity at another’s expense. In light of our time traveling together, I’ll let you off with a warning this time, but don’t let it happen again.”
Gu Qi froze, his expression stiff and unsightly. He would never have guessed that a mere junior would dare to chastise him like this!
Po Xue, however, looked quite pleased. “Well said!”
His eyes flashed like cold lightning as he glanced at Gu Qi. “Don’t disappoint me any further, or there’s no guarantee I’ll accept you into the sect!”
Gu Qi quivered from head to toe and averted his gaze, not daring to argue. All he said was, “I understand.”
“Those who offer generosity at another’s expense, urge others to be magnanimous, and coerce others to act against their own interests are indeed the most detestable of all,” said a cold, raspy voice, seemingly out of nowhere.
A heavy purple cloud appeared silently in the distance, then transformed into a man as thin as a stalk of bamboo. He wore a conical hat, and he had a wide saber sheath on his back. He was dressed in black and swathed in purple clouds tinged with leaden gray.
Even just standing there quietly, he emanated a heart-palpitating, oppressive pressure.
Po Xue’s pupils silently constricted. “You’re still alive, Ol’ Demon Purple River?”
Su Yi and Gu Qi instantly understood. So, that guy in the conical hat is an old monster from a bygone era, too.
“You survived. Why should I have survived too?” Ol’ Demon Purple River stretched out his hand. “Return the Fragment of Heaven’s Will, and I won’t kill you. Refuse, and I’m afraid you won’t be able to stop me, Po Xue.”
“Hah!” Po Xue let out a burst of laughter. “Why not try it?”
Boom!
Ol’ Demon Purple River attacked, stomping his feet and drawing a saber. Practically simultaneously, he vanished into thin air.
Moments later, heaven and earth shook, and something exploded in midair. A streak of unearthly, blood-red saber light descended from the firmament and shot toward Po Xue.
Clang!!
Po Xue swung his sleeve, and a sword whooshed forth, blocking that endlessly tyrannical strike.
But he staggered backward on impact, his face flushing red.
Before he could steady himself, Ol’ Demon Purple River gripped his blood-red saber and attacked once more.
Po Xue roared, sword intent erupted from his aged frame as he attacked with all his might.
But Ol’ Demon Purple River just laughed, his voice booming like spring lightning. “Take this!”
Countless skeletal hands shot out of the bowels of the earth, surrounding Po Xue on all sides. It was like a vision of purgatory.
Meanwhile, Ol’ Demon Purple River swung his saber with all his might.
Kaboom!
The entire stretch of sky was thrown into upheaval. Dazzling light swept outward, forcing Po Xue back.
He hacked up a mouthful of blood as a new, bleeding wound tore open on his body.
“The Ancestral Demon Hands!” Po Xue’s expression was unsightly as he roared, “Gu Qi, take Huang Qianjun and run!”
Before his voice had even finished echoing through the air, he shot through the air and attacked Ol’ Demon Purple River, as if intent on risking it all.
Ripples coursed through the depths of Su Yi’s calm gaze. He could tell that Po Xue could easily have escaped, but the ancient sword cultivator had chosen not to. On the contrary, he was risking his life just to give Su Yi a chance at survival!
“Come on, kid. Run!” Gu Qi called out to Su Yi and turned to flee.
“If you don’t leave behind the Fragment of Heaven’s Will, you can forget about escaping!” Ol’ Demon Purple River snorted coldly and waved his sleeves. Countless skeletal hands appeared, surrounding Po Xue once more.
Meanwhile, Ol’ Demon Purple River shot after Su Yi.
Gu Qi had originally been standing in front of Su Yi, but when he saw this, his scalp went numb with fright, and he instinctively moved out of the way.
“You——!” Off in the distance, the trapped Po Xue roared, his eyes bulging in their sockets.
“Die!” Ol’ Demon Purple River’s gaze was cold as his sharp fingernails aimed for Su Yi’s forehead.
As casual as if crushing an ant.
Su Yi’s gaze was as clear as a lake. It didn’t so much as ripple.
But then, he sensed something, and his eyebrows rose.
Practically simultaneously, a streak of saber qi flashed past.
Splurt!
Ol’ Demon Purple River’s body split like tofu, the pieces sloughing to the ground. The stench of blood permeated the air.
In the last moments before his death, Ol’ Demon Purple River’s eyes widened in astonishment. He didn’t even know who’d killed him!
It happened so suddenly that Po Xue felt his hair stand on end. Who did that?
Su Yi, meanwhile, just stood there, unmoving, his expression unchanged.
This sudden, bloody scene unfolded at close quarters, but not a single drop of Ol’ Demon Purple River’s flesh and blood stained Su Yi’s robes.
