Chapter 2598 - The Art of Spirit Transformation
Chapter 2598 – The Art of Spirit Transformation
He wants to destroy our sign!? Qing Shi and Qing Li exchanged glances. Both of them were stunned.
Those in the River of Destiny who didn’t know of Three Purities Temple could never have found their base on Purple Firmament Mountain.
Those who did know of Three Purities Temple would never have dared to come here looking for trouble!
Yet now, someone had shown up announcing his intention of destroying their sign. Qing Shi and Qing Li were furious, but more than that, they found it hard to believe.
Who could possibly be so brazen?
Heavenly Sovereign Wuxu exclaimed, “It’s strange. Someone came all the way to Purple Firmament Mountain just to cause trouble. How is that any different from suicide?”
Qing Shi laughed. “That he managed to find us proves he’s no ordinary person. To tell the truth, I’m intrigued.”
Qing Li frowned. “Well, I’m not. I don’t care who he is. He’s provoked my murderous intent!”
Destroying their sign would be no different from destroying their reputation!
On the River of Destiny, no one would do something so sick and depraved unless their grudge ran deep.
In a sense, destroying their sign was symbolically erasing the entire sect from existence!
There was no greater provocation!
“Don’t be in such a rush. Let’s wait and see,” laughed Qing Shi. He faced the doorway and said, “Pass on my words. Have Song Ming see what’s going on outside.”
“As you say, Chief Elder!” A respectful voice emanated from beyond the hall.
Song Ming was the ninth deacon of the Lower Court of Three Purities Temple.
This place wasn’t like other factions. It was, after all, the Lower Court of Three Purities Temple. It had only four elders in attendance, all of them with a “Qing” for “purity” in their Daoist title.
Them aside, there were nine deacons, each with different tasks. All of them had “Song” or “pine” in their Daoist titles.
Their titles might have sounded humble, but anyone capable of becoming a deacon of the Lower Court of Three Purities Temple was far stronger than the leaders of even most of the ancient orthodoxies of the River of Destiny!
“Let’s stay here and watch,” said Qing Shi. He raised his hand and tapped. Countless silver formation markings floated into the air and condensed a curtain of light. It was like a mirror displaying the scene just outside the mountain.
Qing Li and Heavenly Sovereign Wuxu instantly looked over.
……
Meanwhile, outside Purple Firmament Mountain.
The dark-skinned, disheveled Li Sansheng crouched alone in a clearing. His eyes were half shut, and he gnawed on a blade of grass as he looked the mountain over. From time to time, he stroked his chin.
Earlier, he’d alerted everyone on the mountain. The first to react were the two disciples guarding the gates, a man and a woman.
Both were feather coats and Daoist robes. Their Daoist crowns were pale blue, and their robes fluttered around them with imposing majesty.
Anyone capable of cultivating in Three Purities Temple had extraordinary origins, even the small fries.
Everyone who understood Three Purities Temple knew how difficult it was to join them. They’d reject even Eternals if they didn’t take a fancy to them!
“Might I ask who you are, and why you’ve come here to cause trouble?” A man in a feather coat and Daoist robes stood near the gate and frowned.
As he spoke, he clasped his fist in greeting.
In his eyes, Li Sansheng looked like a disheveled vagrant. He didn’t look anything like an expert was supposed to.
But the man in the feather coat naturally knew better than to judge a man by his appearance.
Someone capable of traversing the River Destiny to find their base couldn’t possibly be ordinary.
Thus, he maintained a polite veneer as he welcomed this stranger.
Li Sansheng laughed. He could tell that the man in the feather coat was being polite because that was what was expected of disciples of Three Purities Temple. He was putting on airs and feigning magnanimity, all to show off his status.
“Why not say anything?” The man in the feather coat. His frown deepened.
The woman in the feather coat said coldly, “Senior Apprentice Brother, earlier, that man brazenly proclaimed his intent to destroy our sign. He’s obviously just here to cause trouble. Why bother being so polite to him?”
“He wouldn’t make trouble for no reason. I don’t understand, and I’m curious. Why show up here and do this out of nowhere?” the man in the feather coat said gravely.
“Who cares about his reasoning? If you really want to know, why not capture him first and ask questions later?” the woman said icily. Then, without waiting for a response, she attacked.
From beginning to end, Li Sansheng just crouched there, just like he did when looking at the ants back home. When he got started, he’d stay and watch for a long time.
In his eyes, there were just two types of people in this world. Those who were ants, and those who weren’t.
The vast majority were ants. Those who weren’t… were far, far, far too rare.
Li Sansheng had always been patient with ants, because the provocations and aggression of ants was too feeble and insipid to concern him.
If they really got on his nerves, he could crush them to death with his finger.
But Li Sansheng seldom did any such thing. What kind of man went around killing ants? Or if he did… he ought to at least kill the biggest ants!
Meanwhile, a group appeared on the other side of the gate. The leader wore a silver crown and gripped a blue jade ruler. His features were cold and stern, and he had a three-foot gourd on his back.
Song Ming, the ninth deacon of the Lower Court of Three Purities Temple.
A group of old-timers trailed after him, both men and women. Each was more terrifying than the one before. All of them were Eternals.
The old-timers gathered around Song Ming like stars clustered around the moon.
When the two disciples guarding the gates saw him, they hurriedly greeted him.
“You want to destroy our sign, sir?” Song Ming’s eyes flashed like lightning as he locked onto Li Sansheng.
He didn’t ask his origins, nor did he attempt to greet him. He just got right to interrogating him. His attitude was domineering to the extreme.
“The big ants just want to stand back and watch, so they sent you little ants to probe me in their stead. How awfully dull,” sighed Li Sansheng.
Everyone was flabbergasted, to the point that they almost dared not believe their ears. Ants? That guy… seriously sees the cultivators of the Lower Court of Three Purities Temple as Ants?
Song Ming remained calm, not the least bit moved. “Every debt has its debtor. Sir, you’re obviously no ordinary person. You wouldn’t have come here to cause trouble without good reason. Why not share it to help us understand?”
Li Sansheng was gnawing on a blade of grass, so the words came out indistinct. “I’m here to destroy your sign. I have no reason. Why would I need one?”
He then rose from the ground, patted the dust off his butt, and grinned at the crowd gathered by the gates. “If you really need a reason, I’ll give you one. I… don’t like the look of Three Purities Temple. What do you think about that reason?”
His voice wasn’t loud, but every word echoed clearly throughout heaven and earth.
Everyone in Three Purities Temple frowned, their hearts full of fury. The way they saw it, they’d been holding back. They would never have guessed that this time, they’d run into such an unappreciative bastard!
Song Ming remained calm. He looked Li Sansheng up and down, then said, “Our sign is in the Central Palace halfway up the mountain. If you’re capable, you’re welcome to try destroying it!”
Li Sansheng smiled. “Thank you for the information. I’ll be on my way now.”
With that, he spat out the blade of grass and sauntered over to the distant gates.
He didn’t act like someone out to cause trouble. No, he seemed more like a tourist here to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the spring.
“Senior Apprentice Brother Song Ming, should we activate the formation and kill him outside our gates?” someone transmitted.
“No. He might have come with ill intentions, but we cannot forget our manners. Let’s invite him in first,” Song Ming replied calmly. “For now, let’s see just how capable he is.”
The others nodded. They were curious. Just where did this disheveled stranger come from? And just how strong is he?
“Stop right there! If you dare get within a thousand feet of our gates, we’ll execute you!” The man and woman guarding the gates seethed with murderous intent and drew their treasures.
“An ant is trying to block my path. It’s bringing its suffering on itself,” laughed Li Sansheng, waving the blade of grass gently through the air.
A strange scene silently unfolded. Both the man and the woman vanished before the crowd’s very eyes.
No, that’s not right. They didn’t vanish. To the crowd’s shock, there were now two incomparably paltry ants crawling on Li Sansheng’s blade of grass!
“This…” Everyone was horrified. What kind of secret technique was that?
The man and woman were tasked with guarding the Lower Court of Three Purities Temple’s gates. They’d yet to achieve Eternity, but they were still both Nine-Tribulation Master Gods!
In most orthodoxies of the River of Destiny, they’d have at least been deacons or dharma protectors.
Yet now, they were turned into ants before they could even struggle!
It was far too unsettling.
“Spirit Transformation!?”
“Isn’t that a divine ability of the Aberrant Dao?”
“It’s true what they say. Uninvited guests harbor ill intentions. Otherwise, they wouldn’t come uninvited!”
Within the ancient palace halfway up the mountain, Qing Shi frowned and Qing Li’s eyes blazed with increasingly intense murderous intent.
Heavenly Sovereign Wuxu’s eyes shone with strange light.
They could tell at a glance that Li Sansheng was using the art of Spirit Transformation. He could turn his opponents into birds, beasts, plants, and boulders. It was utterly strange.
On the River of Destiny, only those experts of the Aberrant Dao had mastered this ability!
“Daoist Brother, our enemy will soon be upon us. Are we really going to keep waiting?” Qing Li said gravely. He’d never liked this way of doing things.”
“What need is there for concern?” Qing Shi asked airily. “Let’s just watch. I’m increasingly curious about his origins.”
Heavenly Sovereign Wuxu nodded. “It’s true. They say it takes a dragon to brave a raging current. Let’s see whether this ‘friend’ or ours is a fierce dragon or just a self-conceited lizard.”
.Meanwhile, outside the sect, Li Sansheng’s footsteps never halted. He carried that blade of grass and was just about to pass through the gates when…
Boom!
A glinting white spear shot forth, bringing with it a waterfall of dazzling, resplendent power of the Laws.
This was the power of an Eternal!
But then, Li Sansheng waved his sleeve through the ai. The radiance dissipated, and the spear split in two.
Its wielder, a tall, powerfully built Daoist, looked stricken.
But when Li Sansheng waved his blade of grass, the man vanished into thin air.
Meanwhile, yet another ant appeared on the grass!
