Chapter 2458 - A Trap
Chapter 2458 – A Trap
Su Yi was an unparalleled sword cultivator famed throughout the God Domain, the common foe of every god and Buddha beneath the heavens.
More importantly, he had the power of reincarnation and the Epoch Spark!
He was now in dire straits, wretched as could be. He’d “fallen down a well”, and someone might well swoop in to toss stones at him at any moment.
The vast majority of people were too afraid to act recklessly, but there’d always been no shortage of ruthless people in this world, nor had there ever been a lack of those willing to risk their lives for money.
Yu Mu unquestionably fit both descriptions. He’d only just arrived, but he’d already struck to kill. That was what it meant to be courageous and decisive!
Blood-red light permeated heaven and earth, bringing with it a terrifying aura of destruction. Su Yi’s figure was totally enveloped in it, preventing anyone from seeing him clearly.
Old Yao Yu Mu raised his hands into the air, summoning a blood-red alms bowl. It flew through the sky, then descended onto Su Yi.
He didn’t waste any time on talk.
The group trailing after Su Yi was left wide-eyed and tongue-tied. These are the abilities of a Master God? They really are terrifying!
But a moment later, they were flabbergasted to discover that the blood-red alms bowl hit nothing but air. There was no sign of Su Yi in the place shrouded in red light, either!
Old Yao Yu Mu’s pupils constricted. He turned and fled. It seemed that after his first strike missed the mark, he was intent on fleeing.
But the moment he turned around, a streak of sword qi exploded into being and took his head clean off. In the last moments before his death, his eyes widened with anger and unwillingness.
No one was sure when he’d gotten there, but Su Yi’s battered, bloody frame stood not far from where Yu Mu had died.
Everyone fell silent. Even the birds ceased their song.
Earlier, Zhang Xinglie, a Greater God, had perished in a single strike. Now, Yu Mu, a Five-Tribulation Master God, had died too, unable to block a single one of Su Yi’s attacks.
Who wouldn’t have been surprised?
The deathly silence broke when Su Yi burst into hacking coughs once more, fresh blood flowing uncontrollably from the corners of his lips. He looked utterly exhausted and frail.
His sheer wretchedness filled the onlookers with another wave of doubt. Just… how much longer will Su Yi last?
Is he faking? No, there’s no faking injuries like that. But if he isn’t faking, why is he still so terrifyingly strong?
Su Yi disregarded them all and continued walking away.
More and more experts gathered in response to this disturbance. The crowd grew and grew, but as the new arrivals learned the situation, they chose to keep their distance and wait in the name of caution.
For a while, Su Yi walked alone, a vast crowd trailing after him, their ranks so numerous as to blot out the sun. It was a wondrous spectacle.
Along the way, from time to time, some brave soul would attempt to attack him, but without exception, everyone who tried died a brutal death. They couldn’t even block a single hit.
The other experts following Su Yi saw this. Their hearts tensed, and they felt a strong sense of foreboding.
“That guy is a walking death trap! Anyone who touches him dies!” someone grumbled.
“Are his wounds fake? Is he trying to trick and kill anyone reckless enough to attack him?” someone else wondered out loud. “If that’s really the case, then Su Yi is just far too insidious.”
Numerous others silently retreated. They didn’t want to get involved in this any further.
Because as time passed, the situation just got more and more complicated. Prominent experts of peak factions had started showing up.
It didn’t matter how bad Su Yi’s wounds were. Even if he suddenly keeled over dead, small fries like them had no hope of sharing the spoils.
If they were foolish enough to get involved, even if they avoided getting killed by Su Yi, the experts of those top factions would kill them in his stead.
Thus, those of insufficient strength simply gave up and left. They weren’t willing to gamble with their lives.
Even so, the experts tailing Su Yi grew more and more numerous as time passed.
Those with keen eyes noticed that more and more Undying Realm experts were showing up!
Suddenly, a group of terrifying figures appeared in the distance. As soon as they appeared, their collective divine majesties enveloped the dome of heaven and swept throughout the entire area.
Countless people felt their hearts quiver with fright. The whole area was in chaos.
“Experts of the Three Purities Daoist Court!”
“Su Yi won’t escape this time!”
The whole area was in uproar as the crowd recognized these new arrivals. They were from the Three Purities Daoist Court, and they were led by the third elder of the inner court, Mo Xing.
An Eight-Tribulation Master God!
He was accompanied by about a dozen others, all of them prominent experts of the Spirit Firmament Divine Continent. They hailed from different factions, but all of them were from sects and clans subordinate to the Three Purities Daoist Court.
All of them were working under Mo Xing!
Suddenly, a golden-armored man, one of the experts accompanying Mo Xing, stepped forth. His eyes flashed like cold lightning as his voice boomed, “Those not directly involved must leave immediately. Stay, and you’ll be executed without mercy!”
The experts trailing after Su Yi panicked. Many of them scampered off in fright.
But a handful of them remained. They obviously had reason to be confident.
“Everyone, the Three Purities Daoist Court wishes to end its enmity with Su Yi today. Anyone who interferes will become our enemy,” said Third Elder Mo Xing with dignity. “Weigh the consequences of that for yourselves!”
The atmosphere instantly grew stifled and oppressive.
The Three Purities Daoist Court was the greatest faction in the Spirit Firmament Divine Continent, as well as one of the mightiest sects in the entire God Domain.
The few experts who remained left in response to this threat.
Only then did Mo Xing shift his gaze. This time, he looked at Su Yi, his expression strange. “Fellow Daoist Su, how could someone as capable as you have found himself in this condition?”
His tone was strange and jeering.
Su Yi disregarded him. He just kept walking.
Mo Xing’s brow furrowed. “How about this? Fellow Daoist Su, if you’re not opposed, we’d like to invite you to our sect as our guest. We guarantee you a safe place to recover. No one will disturb your rest.”
Su Yi just continued on his way as if he hadn’t heard a thing.
Mo Xing’s expression darkened. He took a deep breath, then said, “You’re in such bad shape, but you remain stubborn. Why? Very well. We’ll just have to ‘help’ you leave!”
Mo Xing waved his hand through the air, and… Boom!
The dozen experts accompanying him all attacked in unison.
Every last one of them was a Master God, but their strengths were all over the place. One was an Eight-Tribulation Master God, just like Mo Xing, but there were also Three-Tribulation Master Gods.
That detail made it obvious that they’d rushed over on short notice; they’d had no time to prepare properly.
Although Su Yi didn’t say anything, it was obvious to him that Mo Xing and his companions’ goal wasn’t to fight him, but rather, to stall for time.
Their ultimate goal was to keep him here long enough for the sect’s Nine-Tribulation Master Gods to arrive!
Unfortunately for them, their hopes were doomed never to be realized, because no matter what they said, Su Yi ignored him.
When the dozen or so Master Gods attacked, they were all quite cautious. They maintained a safe distance between themselves and Su Yi, attacking from afar. None dared to draw near.
This served as further proof that they hadn’t come here to kill Su Yi, but rather, to keep him from leaving!
In the face of all this, Su Yi just sighed and attacked with a casual wave of his sleeve. A streak of mysterious, inscrutable sword qi swept throughout his surroundings.
Heaven and earth split like canvas, collapsing with a bang.
Eighty thousand miles of landscape collapsed.
Dust and smoke filled the air as every last Master God who’d attacked him died brutally on the spot. The smell of blood permeated the air, and agonized cries still echoed through the air.
The distant onlookers’ scalps went numb. Their souls practically left their bodies for sheer panic.
A dozen Master Gods had died in battle! That was an enormous blow to the entire Spirit Firmament Divine Continent’s cultivation world.
After all, Master Gods were rare. There was no guarantee that even one in ten thousand Greater Gods would ever prove their Dao and become a Master God.
Yet now, a dozen of them had died at once. It was easy to imagine how shocking this was!
“You… You actually already reached the Undying Realm!?” Mo Xing cried out in alarm, his eyes wide.
It had been just over a year since Su Yi was last spotted, but he’d already broken into the Undying Realm!
Hadn’t it been just a few years since he’d entered the Fortune Realm and become a Greater God?
The Undying Realm!
When those onlookers who’d yet to disperse learned that the badly battered, severely injured Su Yi was actually a Master God, their expressions shifted dramatically.
None of them had noticed Su Yi’s breakthrough. It was obvious that Su Yi’s grievous wounds had effectively hidden his cultivation base.
“You’re making a huge fuss over nothing. Why shouldn’t I have broken through?” asked Su Yi, finally breaking his silence.
He gazed at Mo Xing, who’d lost his composure, and shook his head. “The cultivators of the Three Purities Daoist Court are getting more and more useless.”
Mo Xing’s expression darkened.
But it was then that a clear, hearty voice suddenly rang out. “Fellow Daoist Su, the speed of your breakthroughs is naturally a surprise. It’s only been a year since we last saw you. To tell the truth, I wouldn’t have guessed that you’d become Undying already, either.”
As this voice rang out, a young Daoist riding on a wooden sword appeared out of nowhere.
This was Master God Yun He, a world-famous peak Nine-Tribulation Master God!
As soon as he appeared, the gods watching in the distance sighed to themselves, then turned to leave. This time, there was no need for threats.
Who in the Spirit Firmament Divine Continent would dare try to swipe the food out of Master God Yun He’s mouth?
Suddenly, another voice appeared out of nowhere. “He really is badly injured, to the point that he might well topple at any moment.”
The speaker was another man in Daoist robes. His skin was fair, and he looked as steady as a mountain.
This was Master God Yun Xiao! He was Master God Yun He’s senior apprentice brother and a terrifying, ancient expert, practically a living fossil.
He was also among those who’d worked with Di E to intercept Su Yi on his way to the God Domain.
“Is that so? It seems Fellow Daoist Su met with extraordinary peril in the Hazy Sea Forbidden Zone,” said Master God Yun He, looking Su Yi up and down. “I just don’t know how much longer he’ll remain upright.”
His gaze was full of mysterious, mystical Dao Markings, as if he were trying to see through Su Yi and determine his secrets.
“It doesn’t matter how much longer he can hold on. He won’t escape disaster this time!” said another voice, this one icy and deep.
Heaven and earth abruptly darkened, and the sky was thrown into upheaval as a powerfully built middle-aged man with a prominent mustache appeared out of nowhere. His majestic aura swept outward, startling both heaven and earth.
This was yet another of Su Yi’s old acquaintances, Master God Tian Huang!
He was among those who’d sent his avatar of will into the Immortal Realm’s Epoch Battlefield. He, the Angler, Wenren Qin, and the Dipankara Buddha had worked together to target Su Yi.
When he appeared, Master God Yun He frowned briefly before regaining his usual unflappable calm.
Who’d miss this opportunity to kick Su Yi while he was down? Especially if it meant a chance at acquiring his Epoch Spark and power over reincarnation?
It was then that Su Yi silently stopped in place and advanced no further.
He silently took in his familiar enemies. “Do you want to wait until more people arrive, then attack together? Or do you want to get started now?
“Take your pick! I’ll go with whatever you decide.”
