Chapter 2359 – My Name is Su Yi, and I’ve Come to Visit These Mountains

Madam Mei said that the Sunset Perch Dao Assembly of rumor was the work of the leader of Divine Billows Palace’s leader.

But even now, years after it was first announced, no one knew when exactly it was to be held, or what it was supposed to accomplish.

Still, Madam Mei and the others had discovered that Divine Billows Palace was almost certainly hosting the Sunset Perch Dao Assembly on the Blue Sparrow Forbidden Zone’s behest!

The Blue Sparrow Forbidden Zone was one of the three spacetime forbidden zones that had appeared in the far reaches of the Endless Ocean.

The other two were known as the Ravening Wolf Forbidden Zone and the Flying Serpent Forbidden Zone.

When he learned this, Su Yi’s eyebrows rose, and he immediately pressed for further details. Unfortunately, Madam Mei and the others didn’t know what was and wasn’t true.

However, Madam Mei was able to tell him that over the past few years, Divine Billows Palace had frequently sent its experts to the Blue Sparrow Forbidden Zone.

There was thus obviously a close connection between Divine Billows Palace and the Blue Sparrow Forbidden Zone.

“In that case, the Sunset Perch Dao Assembly they keep talking about but not announcing most likely really is connected to the Blue Sparrow Forbidden Zone,” Su Yi pondered out loud.

Spacetime forbidden zones weren’t of the present day. They were all either from the past or the future.

Spacetime forbidden zones were like anchors. They connected the God Domain to other spacetimes.

When the Dark Days of Legend arrived, the mighty experts of these other spacetimes would be able to pass through the spatial nodes to arrive in the present day.

Su Yi had seen such things before.

In the Southern Flame Divine Continent’s Barren Mountains of Divine Calamity, there had been three spacetime forbidden zones.

One was in a Daoist Temple. There, Su Yi saw the Heavenless Lamp and World-Refining Bell, two taboo treasures. He conversed with their owner, too, an expert of another spacetime who called himself Hong Taiyu. His strength was deep and unfathomable.

There was a spacetime forbidden zone at the deepest level of the Dao Transformation Blood Cave, too.

When Su Yi went to save the old tea tree, the Lord of Sleepless Nights, and the Rahu Yao Ancestor, he conversed with a scholarly young man who called himself the Celestial Polarity Great Sovereign of the Epoch of the Five Sovereigns.

Su Yi also remembered that his surname was Taishu, while his name was just one character, “Gong.” His strength was deep and unfathomable, too. The Rahu Yao Ancestor was a Nine-Tribulation Master God, but he’d been helpless to defend himself against Taishu Gong!

And those were just the spacetime forbidden zones that had arisen in the Southern Flame Divine Continent. Su Yi was certain that similar places had arisen in the other three divine continents, too!

This expedition to the Endless Ocean proved it. Who could have imagined that over the years, three spacetime forbidden zones would arise here?

“Your Excellency Li Fuyou, do you suspect that the Sunset Perch Dao Assembly is targeting you?” Madam Mei couldn’t help but ask.

“I’m sure of it,” said Su Yi. He took a sip of wine. “The other part that surprises me is that Divine Billows Palace was the first to step forth and announce this so-called Dao assembly.”

A hint of melancholy arose on his face.

The founder of Divine Billows Palace was called the Divine Billows Sage Monarch. He too had been one of Yi Daoxuan’s eight dear friends.

But now, it seemed obvious that he was a traitor, too! 天

This didn’t reflect badly on Yi Daoxuan’s character. It was just that people like Yan Chizhen were ultimately far too rare.

Most people were like Master Golden Crane, Demon Master Shen Ning, and Jin Yuanzi.

After all, back then, the mightiest Master Gods of the God Domain had all targeted Yi Daoxuan. Who wouldn’t worry about trouble by association?

And how many would have been bold enough to try to avenge him? People sought out benefits and avoided harm; it was just human nature.

“Enough. You can leave,” said Su Yi. “We no longer owe each other anything. You’re welcome to seek the Dao on your own.”

All of the ancient divine wraiths reacted differently. Some visibly sighed in relief, clearly excited.

Others looked hesitant.

Before long, most bade farewell and left. In the end, just three remained: Madam Mei, the Sky-Swallowing daoist, and Old Yao White Bones. The most update n0vels are published on novel·fiɾe·net

“Why are you still here?” asked Su Yi.

“They left because they’re worried a connection with you will implicate them,” said Madam Mei. “But we… aren’t afraid!”

The Sky-Swallowing Daoist and Old Yao White Bones nodded.

“So you want to stay?” asked Su Yi, a bit surprised.

Madam Mei said respectfully, “We’ve long since thought it over, and it’s our heartfelt wish to stay by your side and work on your behalf. Our biggest fear is that you’ll refuse, Your Excellency.”

Su Yi smiled. “But I’m worried I’ll implicate you.”

Madam Mei said hurriedly, “Your Excellency, rest assured. The three of us are like wandering ghosts. Even if we die on your behalf, we won’t feel the slightest resentment!”

Su Yi pondered briefly, then said, “Very well. I’ll give you a chance, then. Set course for the Southern Flame Divine Continent and find a saber cultivator by the name of Mu Bai. Don’t disrupt his cultivation, and don’t let him know of your existence. Just watch over him in secret.

“Do that, and after the Dark Days of Legend’s battle for order, I’ll naturally grant you each good fortune.

Madam Mei and the others were “just” divine wraiths, but they were still stronger than most Master Gods. Sending them to watch over Mu Bai was obviously overkill.

But Su Yi had little choice. His enemies were far beyond Madam Mei and the others’ abilities. If he kept the three wraiths by his side, it would only hurt them.

After racking his brains, this was the best arrangement he could come up with. It would keep Mu Bai safe without letting the wraiths get swept into the storm.

Madam Mei and the others had no complaints about this arrangement, and they agreed without hesitation.

The three of them set off that very night.

……

Su Yi had arrived in the Endless Ocean!

This news spread overnight, like a storm sweeping over the Endless Ocean. It stirred up an enormous wave of uproar.

The first to receive word was Divine Billows Palace, a top faction of the Endless Ocean.

Their ancestral court was located inside a hidden realm on a solitary isle.

“He… He finally returned….” The leader of Divine Billows Palace, Mo Xuchou, sat in a grand, ancient hall and sighed.

He wore a feather coat, and he had youthful features, but his presence and bearing seemed incomparably aged and dignified.

That very evening, Mo Xuchou made a decision. “Pass on my orders. We’ll host the Sunset Perch Dao Assembly on Sunset Perch Island in seven days’ time!

“Also, inform the emissary of the Blue Sparrow Forbidden Zone that the fish has taken the bait. Now we just have to wait until it’s time to close the net!”

……

The following morning.

When Su Yi emerged from the inn and took a stroll through Seven-Star City, he discovered that everyone was talking about him.

He’d become the center of attention in Seven-Star City overnight.

He didn’t even need to think to know that Spirit Vessel Yao Court was stirring up waves from behind the scenes. They’d spread word on purpose!

Otherwise, his arrival would never have caused such a commotion.

“Are they trying to stir up trouble for me and plunge me into storm-tossed waters?” Su Yi could roughly guess what they were after.

He just found it a pity that even after waiting in the city all night, Spirit Vessel Yao Court hadn’t tried to get revenge on him!

Su Yi could roughly guess why. They were afraid of him! Otherwise, they’d surely have attacked by now.

He shook his head, then gave the matter no further thought, instead resuming his solitary stroll through the city.

Seven-Star City was one of the most prosperous cities on the coast, and its trading companies numbered over one thousand! Here, you really could find numerous strange and wondrous treasures of the sea.

There were also no small number of slave markets where you could buy ocean-dwelling yao cultivators.

As Su Yi took his stroll, he bought a few wines unique to the coastline, and he went to a restaurant to eat a sumptuous seafood feast designed specifically for gods. A single meal cost a vast sum in Undying Divine Crystals.

But there was no denying it: it was worth it.

The seafood was rare and precious in its own right. After passing through the hands of master chefs, it had a distinctive, wondrous flavor.

Su Yi couldn’t help but sing its praises.

Indeed, some things are best left to the professionals. Take cooking, for instance. No one does it better than the spirit chefs of the Taotie Race.

Flavor, aroma, presentation… These dishes have it all! Better yet, they’re like medicine. Even a single meal is enough to do wonders for one’s cultivation base.

Later, when I get the free time, I should find a few experts of the Taotie Race to attend to my daily needs. At the very least, they can sate my appetite for food and drink, thought Su Yi.

He was on his way back to the inn when word arrived that the Sunset Perch Dao Assembly would be held in Seven-Star City in seven days’ time.

The whole city was instantly in uproar.

They really are impatient, Su Yi murmured to himself. This just made him increasingly certain that the Sunset Perch Dao Assembly was targeting him!

Otherwise, why would Divine Billows Palace be so worried he wouldn’t show up?

When Su Yi reached this conclusion, his brow furrowed. That Divine Billows Palace dared to make this announcement suggests they have complete confidence that they can force me to show up!

Are they threatening hostages? As crass as such methods are, they really are effective.

But even if they did have hostages, Su Yi refused to believe they hadn’t prepared other methods, too.

“No rush. Soon, Divine Billows Palace will announce the answer of their own accord,” said Su Yi. He took a sip of wine, then turned and entered the inn.

It was late at night when the River Child returned. He airily reported how things had gone. “Your Excellency, that father and daughter made it out of the Endless Ocean safely. A few blind, ignorant fools got in the way, but I killed them all.”

Su Yi subtly inclined his head. “Tomorrow at dawn, we’ll pay Spirit Vessel Yao Court a visit together.”

The River Child was stunned. “I assumed you’d go to the Sunset Perch Dao Assembly, Your Excellency.”

He’d clearly heard about it too.

“What does that matter? Even if the wind were fiercer and the waves higher, I’d feel as if I were out for a casual stroll,” said Su Yi. With that, he leaned back into his wicker chair and dozed off.

The River Child couldn’t help but admire him. Anyone else in his position would struggle to eat or sleep in peace, but to his Excellency, none of this means a thing. He fell asleep in the blink of an eye!

The following morning, at daybreak.

A beam of sunlight bathed the churning auspicious clouds over Spirit Vessel Yao Court, dyeing the sea of clouds the colors of sunrise. It was like a resplendent painting.

A young man in blue robes arrived at the gates of Spirit Vessel Yao Court.

He was tall and upright, with one hand behind his back. The other held a green-skinned gourd. He stood alone beneath the light of dawn, his clothes billowing around him.

His sheer composure and majestic bearing was such that the experts guarding the gates didn’t dare to look down on him.

One of them approached, then clasped his fist, neither aggressive nor servile. “Who are you, sir, and what have you come to Spirit Vessel Yao Court to do?”

As Su Yi took in the scenery, he said distractedly, “My name is Su Yi, and I’ve come to visit these mountains.”
