Chapter 2299 - The Grand Dao Is Like the Blue Skies, but There’s No Way Out
Chapter 2299 – The Grand Dao Is Like the Blue Skies, but There’s No Way Out
Su Yi, Wan Zitian, Zang Wushu, and the Heaven-Swallowing Toad Ancestor sat cross-legged on board a treasure ship, drinking and toasting each other.
“Just as you thought, Brother Fuyou. In less than ten minutes, a group of old-timers charged into the Severed Heavens Demon Court,” said Wan Zitian. “Thanks to your warning, we left before they even got close.”
“Brother Fuyou, how did you anticipate their arrival?” the Heaven-Swallowing Toad Ancestor couldn’t help but ask.
“This whole thing was one of the Dipankara Buddha’s schemes,” said Su Yi. “As you said earlier, our enemies have been watching you ever since you revealed yourselves at Skybright Mountain. It was inevitable that the Dipankara Buddha would find out about your trip to the Southern Flame Divine Continent.”
Su Yi then recounted the reasoning he’d shared with Lu Qingmei earlier. His friends instantly understood.
“That damned bald donkey is just too insidious!” cursed the Heaven-Swallowing Toad Ancestor. “I hate nothing more than schemers who hide in the shadows to catch enemies off guard!”
Wan Zitian, however, changed the subject. “Brother Fuyou, why did you let Lu Qingmei go?”
Su Yi shook his head. “I’ll kill her sooner or later. There’s no rush to do it now.”
The others could tell that Su Yi didn’t want to discuss her, so they considerately refrained from asking further questions and got back to drinking.
When old friends gathered, they naturally had to drink and celebrate.
Late at night, the Heaven-Swallowing Toad Ancestor left in an intoxicated stupor.
Zang Wushu was the second to leave. He’d obviously had too much to drink, and his whole body reeked of alcohol.
Before he left, he just patted Su Yi on the shoulder and said, “Let’s fight our way into the Boundless Battlefield. I’ll be waiting for you.”
With that, he left.
“Zang Wushu is a man of few words, but I can tell that he can’t stop worrying about our old friends trapped in the Boundless Battlefield,” sighed Wan Zitian.
Several years ago, Di E personally took action, using an unparalleled divine ability to seal the entrance to the Boundless Battlefield. There’d been no sign of it since, and some of Li Fuyou’s old friends were still trapped inside.
“They’ll be fine,” said Su Yi, sprawled out in his wicker chair. He said softly, “I understand the Boundless Battlefield. Given Luo Yao and the others’ strength, even trapped, they’ll be just fine. They just can’t return to the God Domain.”
When Su Yi first arrived in the God Domain, he considered heading straight for the Boundless Battlefield to save his old friends, but in the end, he decided against it.
This was, in part, because sealing the entrance to the Boundless Battlefield was Di E’s limit. He couldn’t interfere with anything that happened inside.
That in turn meant that although his friends were trapped, they weren’t in any kind of danger.
Second, Su Yi knew that going to the Boundless Battlefield would be little different from throwing himself into his enemies’ net. Di E and the others working for him had surely placed an inescapable net around the former entrance to the Boundless Battlefield, and they were sure to intercept him!
Given the circumstances, his best option was to stay calm and grow stronger as quickly as possible!
If he didn’t have the strength to contend with his powerful enemies, it would be hard to make any of this plans a reality.
Wan Zitian leaned against the sides of the boat and asked, “You can’t stay in Qingwu Divine Court any longer, so what do you plan to do next?”
Su Yi pondered briefly, then said, “I’d originally planned to lie low in Qingwu Divine Court a while longer, but it seems I’ll have to change my approach.”
He paused, then said, “Next, I plan to grow stronger as quickly as possible!”
Wan Zitian inclined his head. “It’s true. If you were as strong as you were at your peak, not one of your enemies would escape alive!”
Su Yi laughed. “No matter how strong my past lives were, they still lost to my enemies. This time… it’ll be different!”
Wan Zitian’s spirits soared. “We’re all looking forward to that day!”
He and the other old-timers all knew that Su Yi controlled both the power of reincarnation and the Epoch Spark!
With power like that, he absolutely had hope of overturning the God Domain’s balance of power and consigning every last one of his enemies to the abyss!
“Never mind that for now. Next, just as you suggested, let’s set course for the Ruins of Supreme Emergence!” Su Yi’s gaze shone with eagerness. “I’m eager to see just how much Supreme Emergence Fortune I can gather with this lifetime’s Grand Dao Divine Ability!”
The Ruins of Supreme Emergence were one of the Five Great Origin Ruins of the God Domain. Everyone knew about them.
Each of the divine continents had a similar ruin. However, the Taiyi Ruins had been lost along with the Central Divine Continent.
The Five Great Origin Ruins had existed since the genesis of the God Domain, and they stood to the present day.
The Ruins of Supreme Emergence were located in the Southern Flame Divine Continent.
These ancient ruins hid numerous mysterious and unknown forbidden zones. They were full of endless good fortune and opportunities.
The most famous part of the Ruins of Supreme Emergence was known as the Blue Sky Forbidden Zone!
There, a massive, ancient city hovered nine hundred thousand feet in the air. They called it the Celestial Capital.
A Dao Mountain stood in the Celestial Capital, its peak piercing the firmament. They called it Blue Sky Divine Mountain.
The name came from the phrase, “The Grand Dao was as vast as the blue skies, but there was no way out!”
On Blue Sky Divine Mountain, cultivators could acquire Supreme Emergence Fortune. This was a fortuitous power of the Dao born in the earliest days of the God Domain’s history. It could only be happened upon by chance.
Those who obtained it could transform their Laws of the Grand Dao and advance by leaps and bounds.
That aside, cultivators could use it to gain the good fortune of the Grand Dao. Its support was inestimably valuable when overcoming divine tribulations.
This power was unquestionably a unique, unparalleled blessing of heaven!
It was far beyond the world’s other precious elixirs and wondrous treasures.
After all, this was the most primordial fortune power of the Grand Dao. It could change one’s destiny and reverse one’s fortune.
Even Master Gods couldn’t resist such temptation, let alone ordinary gods!
However…
Every god received but one opportunity to climb Blue Sky Divine Mountain and acquire Supreme Emergence Fortune.
Furthermore, only those gods who’d condensed Grand Dao Divine Abilities could attempt to climb Blue Sky Divine Mountain.
The stronger one’s Grand Dao Divine Ability, the higher one could climb, and the more Supreme Emergence Fortune one received.
The universally acknowledged Divine Ability Rankings were based on how cultivators performed while climbing Blue Sky Divine Mountain.
Both Yi Daoxuan and Li Fuyou had visited the Ruins of Supreme Emergence’s Celestial Capital and climbed the towering Blue Sky Divine Mountain.
Both managed to reach the peak, and both took first place in the Divine Ability Rankings.
Yi Daoxuan used his Grand Dao Divine Ability, a Journey of Defiance Against Heaven and Earth, to reach the summit. The Supreme Emergence Fortune he received let him advance from the Limit Realm to the pinnacle of the Fortune Realm in just thirty years.
Li Fuyou had advanced even more quickly. His Grand Dao Divine Ability, Floating Through Life as If Dreaming, seized first place too. After refining his Supreme Emergence Fortune, he waged war across the God Domain, growing through combat. Just fifteen years later, he reached the Undying Realm and became the famous Sword Master of Spiritual Desolation!
Of course, that just represented the relative speed of their breakthroughs. It said nothing about their true abilities.
Still, this was enough to demonstrate how unbelievably precious Supreme Emergence Fortune Power was.
The experiences of Su Yi’s past lives meant he understood the wonders of Supreme Emergence Fortune far better than most
His cultivation base had already reached the late-stage Limit Realm. Although he’d yet to reach the peak of the realm, he figured he could reach the top of Blue Sky Divine Mountain. That would let him realize a rapid breakthrough in his cultivation!
“Alright, let’s go.” Wan Zitian was quite eager, too. “This is sure to be the last opportunity to enter the Ruins of Supreme Emergence before the arrival of the Dark Days of Legend. You absolutely cannot miss it.”
The Ruins of Supreme Emergence appeared just once every thousand years, but they were due to open again in just a month.
The ruins weren’t limited to the Blue Sky Forbidden Zone. They had numerous other mysterious forbidden zones, too.
Wan Zitian had invited Su Yi there because he was after the good fortune of the other forbidden zones.
He’d invited Zang Wushu and the Heaven-Swallowing Toad Ancestor, too, but neither was all that interested. Both declined his invitation.
He and Su Yi were the only ones left.
“It sounds like the Ruins of Supreme Emergence will draw gods from all over the God Domain,” said Su Yi. “After all, everyone knows that this is their last chance before the arrival of the Dark Days of Legend.”
Wan Zitian’s eyelids twitched. “Do you suspect that your enemies will go there too?”
“I don’t just ‘suspect’ it. I’m completely certain of it. Even if they don’t go in person, they’ll at least send people in their stead,” said Su Yi. He drank a cup of wine. “But I’m not actually worried. The Ruins of Supreme Emergence might be dangerous and unfathomable, but to me, they’re actually safer than the outside world. Even if I run into peril, I have means of overcoming it.”
He’d only just said this when he froze and slipped a talisman from his sleeves. It contained a message from Zhong Xinlan.
After reading its contents, Su Yi’s brow furrowed.
Zhong Xinlan had just told him that she’d be tying the not with Sun Zangyun a core disciple of Donghua Sword Pavilion, in seven days’ time!
Prominent experts of the Donghua Sword Pavilion would accompany Sun Zangyun and his friends and family as they went to welcome the bride.
Zhong Xinlan hoped that Su Yi would come to her wedding. She was just asking him to attend as a guest and enjoy her hospitality. She sounded quite eager and sincere, too.
But she also said that she’d understand if Su Yi couldn’t find the time. She obviously wasn’t at all confident that Su Yi would accept her invitation.
Su Yi naturally wouldn’t refuse. Out of respect for his long-deceased old friend, Zhong You Qi, he of course had to attend.
However, he felt that something was off about this.
It wasn’t that he sensed any sort of scheme, but that on their way to Cloudy Heights Temple, Bao Yun, Zhong Xinlan’s dear friend, had told him that she was staunchly opposed to this marriage alliance!
However, Bao Yun also said that Zhong Xinlan couldn’t disobey her family’s orders, and that when it came to her marriage… she’d have no choice but to compromise!
