First Immortal of the Sword

Chapter 2279 - A Buddhist Kingdom in His Sleeve

Chapter 2279 – A Buddhist Kingdom in His Sleeve

One slash, and Fa Heng, a Two-Tribulation Master God, died in battle!

This result left everyone stunned. No, they were more than just stunned. They were horrified!

The power of that strike was beyond imagination. It completely overturned their perception of reality!

Who could have imagined that a Mid-Rank God’s light, airy strike could slay a Two-Tribulation Master God like Fa Heng with such ease?

Not even Fa Zhen, Mo Ye, Hui Jin, or the other Master Gods had anticipated this. All of them looked stricken. We got complacent!

And here they’d assumed that Su Yi’s real killer weapons were his “helpers.” They hadn’t taken him at all seriously.

Fa Heng’s death was like a heartless slap to the face. All of them suddenly realized how severe the problem really was!

“This…” Zhong Xinlan’s heart quivered. Su Yi had carefully guided her cultivation on their way here, but she’d had no idea that “Fellow Daoist Ye” was so unreasonably strong.

Bao Yun, meanwhile, was stunned. She almost suspected that she was seeing things!

An air of destruction swept throughout heaven and earth, bringing with it the stench of divine blood.

Before the bisected halves of Fa Heng’s corpse hit the ground, tyrannical sword qi cleaved them into powder.

This came as a deep shock to everyone in Cloudy Heights Temple.

But since Su Yi had chosen to attack, he naturally wouldn’t be polite. He shifted through the air, then charged at Abbot Fa Zhen.

“Allow me!” Grand High Elder Hui Jin bellowed and attacked directly.

Boom!

Endless light erupted around him, Buddhist flames soared into the firmament, and thunder and lightning swept outward.

As his Six-Tribulation Undying Realm cultivation base circulated, even the skies were blanketed in that resplendent Buddhist light.

There was no denying it. Hui Jin was far more terrifying than a Two-Tribulation Master God like Fa Heng.

When he waved his sleeve through the air, the stars moved, heaven and earth shifted, and a boundlessly vast world spread outward, blanketing the skies and severing the outside world off completely.

Su Yi, however, was trapped inside!

This divine ability was called “A Buddhist Kingdom in a Sleeve.” It was similar to “A Universe in a Sleeve” and other such abilities, but it differed in that the Buddhist Kingdom it condensed truly existed. It was manifested entirely out of Hui Jin’s Undying Realm Laws of the Natural Order!

It could trap opponents and separate them from the outside world, but that wasn’t the most terrifying part. Rather, the most terrifying part was that Hui Jin was the sole ruler of this place. Everything was under his control, and life and death were his to decide!

“Wicked creature, I’ll burn you to ash!” A Buddhist invocation boomed throughout this boundless Buddhist kingdom.

Golden light shone in the distance, and flowers rained from the heavens. Divine lotuses sprang up from the ground, while Hui Jin sat atop a lotus platform, austere as a statue and emanating endless radiance.

His dignified bearing was no different from that of a sovereign.

“Hah!” Hui Jin’s hands formed seals, and his voice boomed like spring thunder.

Boom!

Endless Buddhist flames appeared out of nowhere, transforming into a blazing furnace that bore down on Su Yi.

The power of this strike was sufficient to incinerate even Master Gods of the same level, scattering their souls.

But Su Yi naturally wouldn’t just sit around and wait to die.

The moment he found himself trapped, an ear-splitting sword hum rang out, and the furnace split into pieces. As endless flames swept outward, Su Yi shot into the air, his forceful sword intent penetrating heaven and earth, proud and contemptuous.

“You’re just a Six-Tribulation Master God, but you boast more than a Nine-Tribulation Master God.” Su Yi laughed dryly, then leaped into the air and charged at the lotus platform Hui Jin was seated on.

Kaboom!

Along the way, the Buddhist kingdom manifested dazzling spears of lightning, searing blades of judgment, and seamless and firm cages of the Grand Dao…

All of these powers were incomparably terrifying.

At the same time, the entire Buddhist kingdom seemed to come to life. Space folded repeatedly, the natural order developed, and all of it rained down on Su Yi.

Hui Jin really had created a world all his own! This was what made a Buddhist Kingdom in the Sleeve so terrifying.

All Hui Jin had to do was exert his will, and he could control it as he pleased, casually trapping and suppressing his opponents.

But Su Yi was no longer comparable to his former self. In the Dao Transformation Blood Cave, he’d managed to defeat a divine wraith comparable to a Five-Tribulation Master God relying purely on his own strength.

If he went all out, he could kill even Six-Tribulation divine wraiths!

Admittedly, divine wraiths weren’t comparable to true, living gods. If Su Yi had to rely purely on his own strength, he’d struggle to kill an opponent of Hui Jin’s level.

But he wasn’t here to risk it all! There was no need to fight to the death just to take Hui Jin out.

Kaboom!!

Su Yi leaped into the fray, sword swinging. The lightning spears manifested of the natural order, the blades of judgment, and the cage of the Grand Dao split on contact.

Not even the folded, shifted space could block his path.

He was like an axe through bamboo!

“You… aren’t subject to the restrictions of the natural order!?” Hui Jin cried out in alarm.

Those trapped in this Buddhist kingdom lost all connection to the outside world.

No one, no matter who they were, could sense the power of their surroundings when they used their divine abilities and Daoist magics in here. That aside, the Undying natural order of the Buddhist kingdom would suppress them!

Unless they had even mightier powers of the Grand Dao, every step they took would be arduous.

But Su Yi was just a Mid-Rank God, yet he seemed entirely unaffected. He was actually charging right through the Buddhist Kingdom with unstoppable momentum. Who wouldn’t have been astonished?

How could a Mid-Rank God’s Laws of the Grand Dao contend with the Undying Natural Order of a Master God!?

“This is my path of divinity,” Su Yi said calmly.

That’s right. This was connected to his unique path of divinity.

When others became gods, they used Epoch Laws to condense a Godhead, ignite their Divine Flame, and forge their Divine Thrones. They sought godhood within heaven and earth.

But Su Yi was different. He used his powers of the Grand Dao as a seed and his Dao of the Sword as roots, then cleaved open a path of divinity all his own.

He sought all Daos within himself. Severing his connection to the outside world wouldn’t affect him at all!

Boom!

He suddenly leaped forward, arrived at Hui Jin’s lotus platform, and swung his fist like a sword.

Hui Jin swung his sleeve and forced Su Yi backward.

Meanwhile, the lotus platform crumbled beneath his feet.

“A Mid-Rank God couldn’t possibly wield such power. Who exactly are you!?” Hui Jin said gravely, his presence all the more terrifying and imposing.

His earlier strike had forced Su Yi back, and he’d gotten a rough sense of this unfamiliar young man’s true power.

But although he was astonished, Hui Jin was confident he could take him down!

“This is a life-or-death battle. What’s with all the chatter?” Su Yi laughed dryly, then leaped ahead.

Boom!

Hui Jin laughed coldly and no longer held back. He unleashed his greatest Buddhist legacy and attacked with all his might.

At the same time, the entire Buddhist Kingdom rumbled and boomed. The power of the natural order surged forth, strengthening Hui Jin’s attacks.

To the onlookers, it seemed as if Su Yi were up against the entire Buddhist Kingdom. His attacks were all completely suppressed, and he was forced back repeatedly!

But Hui Jin didn’t get complacent, nor did he let up in the slightest.

A hawk used its full strength even when hunting a rabbit. Someone like him, an expert who’d lived so long he’d lost track and overcome countless bloody battles, naturally knew better than to give his opponent time to catch his breath!

“Die!”

He advanced once step at a time, relentlessly suppressing his opponent. His Buddhist light swept out in waves, spreading in all directions.

“It’s a pity, but I’m here to flatten Cloudy Heights Temple. I can’t waste my time on you,” Su Yi said with a sigh.

There was no denying that Hui Jin was a worthwhile opponent, a terrifying existence strong enough to threaten him. Any other time, and he’d have just loved to fight him to the death and see whose powers of the Grand Dao were superior.

But he couldn’t do so now. He had other powerful enemies to kill, and he needed to flatten the temple. He couldn’t afford to take too many injuries in the meantime.

Hui Jin silently narrowed his eyes. He naturally understood the implications. He’s planning to use his trump cards!

“Go ahead and show me, then. How powerful could a Mid-Rank God’s hidden cards possibly be!?” shouted Hui Jin.

As he said this, his robes erupted with intense radiance, and countless Sanskrit letters appeared, all of them emanating Undying Buddhist light.

A string of snow-white, crystalline prayer beads appeared in his hands. Every bead was like a revolving star emanating endless radiance.

Su Yi could tell at a glance that both Hui Jin’s robe and his prayer beads were first-rate Undying treasures of wondrous power.

There’s no doubt about it. He’s taking precautions against my hidden cards for fear they’ll catch him off guard, but… That’s the full extent of it.

A Dao Sword appeared in Su Yi’s hands with an audible clang.

Its blade was shrouded in chaos power, preventing anyone from seeing it clearly. All they could see were the three divine chains wrapped around it.

Unsurpassed sword force spread outward, making the entire Buddhist Kingdom shake violently. The Undying Laws that constituted it were now under terrifying suppression!

Hui Jin instantly looked stricken.

“It’s that sword. You’re…” Hui Jin opened his mouth to speak, but before he could finish his sentence, the humming of a sword drowned him out.

Su Yi was attacking!

An impassioned sword hum tinged with endless, murderous power rang out, like a Daoist invocation from beyond the nine heavens.

Su Yi’s essence, qi, and spirit, his physical body, soul, cultivation base, and even his powers of the Grand Dao formed a wondrous resonance, fusing fully into one.

Everything burned, and everything was unleashed at once!

In the face of this strike, Hui Jin’s unyielding Chan heart quivered uncontrollably. His soul palpitated, and his hair stood on end.

What kind of strike is this!?

It was like witnessing the first streak of light following the first parting of primordial chaos, or like gods wailing in despair at dusk!

The sword clanged and hummed. Its sword force was unparalleled.

Hui Jin bit through the tip of his tongue, acting practically on instinct. He drew upon the full extent of his cultivation base and attacked with all his might.

Boom!

His Buddhist robe lit up, and countless Sanskrit markings surged forth. His snow-white prayer beads took to the sky, and a river of stars fell from the sky.

Meanwhile, Hui Jin’s Buddhist radiance caught ablaze. He was like an enraged Buddha marching into battle, ready to sacrifice himself in the name of righteousness!
