First Immortal of the Sword

Chapter 2180 - The Sword of Proximity’s Strange Movements

Chapter 2180 – The Sword of Proximity’s Strange Movements

Two months later.

Whoosh!

A sparrow flew through the wilderness, then dove at a hundred-foot-long vicious golden bird.

The golden bird’s eyes glinted with mockery. What a fearless, ignorant little sparrow!

But then, it felt a piercing pain in its throat, and its eyes widened mid-jeer. A moment later, it plummeted from the sky and slammed into the dirt.

The little sparrow raised and swung its claws, firing streaks of sharp divine radiance. Soon, the golden bird had been skinned, bled, and neatly butchered.

The sparrow then ignited a divine flame and roasted the golden bird over the fire.

Su Yi sat beside a nearby stream. He was dressed in white, and he’d taken on Xiao Jian’s appearance. He’d only just awakened from a night of meditation.

Su Yi let out a long breath, then sensed his changes. A hint of a smile rose unbidden to his lips.

He and the little monkey had disguised themselves and begun their journey through the Southern Flame Divine Continent. They’d yet to encounter any danger.

Even as they traveled, Su Yi never forgot his cultivation.

His wounds were about twenty percent healed, and he’d recovered ten percent of his cultivation base!

Setting aside his injuries, recovering ten percent of his cultivation base was absolutely cause for celebration. He could now use many of his divine abilities and secret arts. More importantly, Su Yi no longer had anything to fear from anyone beneath the Master God level!

But then, Su Yi frowned. “I still don’t have enough cultivation resources.”

In the Billowing Blue Realm, he’d gathered divine medicines from the ruins of the Celestial Yao Mountains, and he’d picked a few divine medicines in the Ice Drinker Sword Realm, too.

He’d already used them all up.

He’d even used up more than half of the eighty-one divine medicines in the bag of holding that Si Ming had given him.

Even so, Su Yi had only recovered ten percent of his cultivation base.

His injuries were healing a bit faster, but even they were only about twenty percent healed.

According to Su Yi’s estimates, even if he used up all one thousand of the Undying Divine Crystals Si Ming had given him, he’d at most recover thirty percent of his cultivation base.

The divine medicines I need just to treat my wounds and recover my cultivation base would be enough to sustain a Greater God’s cultivation for a hundred years, sighed Su Yi.

There was nothing for it. His foundations in the Grand Dao were just too terrifying, especially now that he’d become a god. He’d opened a seemingly endless Sea of Chaos within his body, and it was like a bottomless pit.

That aside, his body and soul required a similarly enormous quantity of cultivation resources.

Given the circumstances, fully recovering his cultivation base was far too difficult.

But Su Yi was already quite satisfied. He hadn’t forgotten that, just a few months ago, he’d been a cripple unable to even lift a finger…

“Master, come and taste some wild game.” The little monkey raised a crispy roasted wing dripping with grease. It was fully ten feet long, and it looked quite exaggerated.

Su Yi laughed and accepted the wing, sipping wine between bites of meat. It was actually quite satisfying.

“We’ll reach Spring and Autumn City within three days. When we get there, you’ll head to the Endless Ocean on your own. Do as I instructed you. Lie low for a while, and if you can, worm your way into a local faction,” commanded Su Yi.

The little monkey listened, silent and attentive.

Once they’d finished eating, they were just about to set off when Su Yi suddenly furrowed his brow.

The Sword of Proximity hidden within his Sea of Chaos was suddenly buzzing and shaking as if agitated. It seemed to have sensed something!

Su Yi didn’t hesitate to use the aura of the Epoch Spark to obscure the Sword of Proximity. The sword instantly quieted down.

“Stay in the Ice Drinker Sword Realm for now,” said Su Yi before putting the monkey-in-sparrow-form away.

Practically simultaneously, the skies over the distant horizon shattered, and a group appeared out of nowhere.

All of them were gods!

The leader of the group was a fair-skinned young man in dark robes. His long hair was tied up in a Daoist topknot, and he emanated the characteristic energy fluctuations of a Fortune Realm Greater God.

Su Yi’s eyebrows rose. One look at their auras and attire, and Su Yi recognized their origins. Experts of the Severed Heavens Demon Court.

The Severed Heavens Demon Court was one of just a handful of truly top-notch factions in the Southern Flame Divine Continent.

They were a Demonist faction founded by the Severed Heavens Demon Master, one of Li Fuyou’s former enemies!

The Severed Heavens Demon Master had participated in the attempt to intercept Su Yi on the Path of Celestial Guidance.

In the blink of an eye, the dark-robed man and his allies shot toward Su Yi and surrounded him.

Their knifelike gazes swept over Su Yi as they sealed off all possible escape routes.

Su Yi furrowed his brow. “What’s the meaning of this?”

The dark-robed man clasped his fist and said, “Might I ask your honorable name and surname, and why we’ve never seen you before?”

His gaze was cold and forceful, and he sounded like he was conducting an interrogation.

The Southern Flame Divine Continent was vast and home to billions upon billions of living things, including countless cultivators. However, only a tiny handful of them ever managed to prove their Daos and become gods. Thus, for the most part, the gods active in the Southern Flame Divine Continent all knew each other’s origins.

But Su Yi was entirely unfamiliar to the man in dark robes.

“I’m from the Eastern Victory Divine Continent. My name is Xiao Jian,” Su Yi said airily. “I’ve come to the Southern Flame Divine Continent to join Qingwu Divine Court.”

The Eastern Victory Divine Continent was home to all races, and sects were as numerous as the trees in a forest. Of the Four Great Divine Continents, it was the most prosperous, and it had the largest population of cultivators.

“Xiao Jian of the Eastern Victory Divine Continent?” The dark-robed man laughed; he obviously didn’t believe it. “How about this? Let us investigate and determine your true nature. Then you’ll be free to go.”

“On what basis?” Su Yi furrowed his brow.

“‘On what basis?’” A white-haired old man said icily, “We’re pursuing a wanted criminal, and we suspect that you’re that criminal in disguise!”

“That’s right! Cooperate, and we naturally won’t make any further trouble for you once we’ve completed our investigation,” said another expert, a tall man in warrior’s robes. “But if you dare defy us, it’ll prove that you’re hiding something! In that case… don’t blame us for our poor manners!”

The gods of the Severed Heavens Demon Court seethed with murderous intent. All of them locked onto Su Yi and readied themselves for battle.

Su Yi said calmly, “Setting aside the question of whether or not I’m the person you’re looking for, you’re treating me like a suspect and demanding I submit to an investigation with no evidence. Don’t you think… that’s over the line?”

His calm but unyielding demeanor made many of the experts frown.

“Hah.” The white-haired elder laughed coldly. “Over the line? This is how the Severed Heavens Demon Court does business. Everyone in the Southern Flame Divine Continent knows that!”

Su Yi frowned. “You’re saying there’s no room to talk this out?”

Boom!

His entire body suddenly surged with the power of a terrifying bloodline, and his imposing aura transformed.

A one-horned, illusory figure floated above his head, and the originally clear skies were suddenly plunged into darkness. A heart-palpitating atmosphere enveloped the entire area.

A Torch Dragon!

The gods were startled. Given their breadth of experience, practically all of them recognized this power at a glance. This was the rare and terrifying power of the Torch Dragon lineage!

Torch Dragons were natural divinities born of chaos. They were among the earliest and greatest lineages of yao cultivators!

“The Torch Dragons vanished countless years ago. I wouldn’t have thought that an expert of their lineage would ever appear again,” someone exclaimed.

“It’s just as the rumors say. As the Dark Days of Legend draw near, all sorts of unbelievable things are happening,” someone else murmured.

How many years had it been since a Torch Dragon last appeared in the God Domain? Yet now, an expert of the Torch Dragon lineage was standing before their very eyes!

Who wouldn’t have been surprised?

But the leader of the group, the man in dark robes, frowned. “A Torch Dragon? Not necessarily!”

Many of the others instantly calmed down.

“So you insist on targeting me?” Su Yi said icily.

The dark-robed man fell briefly silent, then flipped his palm.

Weng!

A bronze umbrella floated into the air, the dense chaos energy that covered its surface pouring down its sides like a waterfall and collapsing the nearby skies. Its imposing presence was shocking to behold.

This was the Umbrella of Tribulations! One of the Nine Mysteries of Chaos!!

Su Yi’s gaze focused. He finally understood why the Sword of Proximity had reacted strangely earlier. It had obviously sensed the Umbrella of Tribulations’ presence.

It seems my enemies have investigated me thoroughly. I would never have guessed they’d use the Umbrella of Tribulations to find me! It’s no wonder they managed to find me here, thought Su Yi. He was inwardly solemn.

He’d long since revealed the Sword of Proximity to his enemies. By now, all of them knew about it.

It too was one of the Nine Mysteries of Chaos. All nine treasures could sense each other’s presence.

That was how these people had managed to find him!

The dark-robed man with the Umbrella of Tribulations seemed to be sensing something.

But in the end, his brow furrowed. He’d obviously figured out nothing at all.

His expression filled with uncertainty. “Strange. The Umbrella of Tribulations obviously sensed something earlier, so why isn’t it reacting at all anymore…?”

But he obviously wasn’t willing to just give up. He stared at Su Yi as if intent on seeing through his secrets.

The other gods were ready for battle, too.

“Wen Long, go see what he’s made of!” The man in dark robes suddenly ordered. “If he’s really a member of the Torch Dragon Race, we’ll leave immediately!”

“Got it!” That tall, stalwart man in warrior’s robes stepped forth and looked at Su Yi with seething murderous intent.

“Wait,” Su Yi said with a frown. “Attack me, and I won’t stop until you’re dead. Are you sure you want to do this?”

The crowd was stunned. Where does he get the gall to be so aggressive? Doesn’t he know what a fight to the death would mean for him?

The tall, stalwart Wen Long grinned. “Very well. Let’s see if you’re capable of that!”

His allies stood nearby, ready to swoop in at a moment’s notice, so Wen Long wasn’t at all worried that anything would happen to him.

Before his voice had even finished echoing through the air, he leaped explosively at Su Yi.

Boom!

His bones rubbed together, and his flesh expanded as his right hand formed a black seal so enormous as to blot out the sun. It descended ruthlessly upon Su Yi.

Fierce and tyrannical.

It was obvious that he was attacking with all his might. He wasn’t holding back in the slightest.

All the while, the dark-robed man and his companions gazed intently at Su Yi. They wanted to see how he’d respond to Wen Long’s killer move!
