Chapter 2044 - You’re Finally Here!
Chapter 2044 – You’re Finally Here!
The one-armed man who called himself the Blood-Marked Demon Lord took a step forward, and countless bloody skulls suddenly shot forth, blanketing heaven and earth and charging at Su Yi.
Bang!
Su Yi swung his fist, blocking a skull’s explosive attack and blasting it to bits. It erupted with all-encompassing destructive power.
Su Yi, meanwhile, was forced several steps back.
Immediately afterward, thousands of skulls attacked at once, and all of them exploded. The overlapping destructive power forced Su Yi to retreat continuously.
In the blink of an eye, he was covered in wounds.
That aside, after the skulls shattered, they unleashed churning blood-red mist. It brought with it endless corrosive power that lingered around Su Yi, corroding his skin and sealing his blood and flesh.
Even his soul was affected, resulting in severe hallucinations.
“Die!”
The Blood-Marked Demon Lord shifted through space and appeared before Su Yi, seemingly out of nowhere. His only arm rose into the air, and he ruthlessly swung his fist at Su Yi’s head.
Bang!!!
Suddenly, the Naihe Bridge appeared beneath Su Yi’s feet. It was as if he now stood in the endlessly distant depths of the Netherworld, and the Blood-Marked Demon King’s fist hit nothing but air.
“A spatial divine ability?” The Blood-Marked Demon King frowned.
Su Yi shifted on his feet, and…
Boom!
The blood-red mist enveloping him disappeared completely.
When he stepped forward, the River of Forgetfulness surged from beneath the Naihe Bridge, slamming into the Blood-Marked Demon Lord.
“Break!” The Blood-Marked Demon Lord swung his fist, scattering the waters of the River of Forgetfulness.
But a moment later, a platform descended from the heavens.
It was dusty and gray, and it emanated taboo, mysterious tribulation light. The powers of new life and destruction flowed within it, like an alternating cycle of life and death.
The Platform of Rebirth!
Boom!
The platform came crashing down, and the Blood-Marked Demon Lord staggered on his feet. He was forced back, and his expression darkened. Viciousness appeared on his brow.
“Break!” His murderous intent surged, and he leaped forward, attacking over one hundred times in an instant. The monstrous destructive power smashed the Platform of Rebirth to bits!
“This is the power of reincarnation? It really is taboo, and terrifying, too! Alas, you’ve yet to transform it into an Epoch Law, so it’s useless against me!” The Blood-Marked Demon Lord laughed hideously and attacked Su Yi once more.
But a moment later, he sensed that something was awry. The scene transformed in front of him, and he found himself on a path leading into the endless darkness, surrounded by emptiness on both sides.
Resplendent, fiery red flowers fell like rain. They looked colorful and beautiful, but when they landed on the Blood-Marked Demon Lord’s body, they erupted with calamitous, burning power.
The Blood-Marked Demon Lord was just about to dodge when his heart palpitated with fright. It was as if an invisible rope had wrapped around his neck!
Boom!
He bellowed, then erupted with monstrous demonic majesty, breaking free of his formless shackles in a single attempt just as the fiery rain of flowers landed on him.
Kcch! Kcch! Kcch!
The Blood-Marked Demon Lord billowed green smoke, and a terrifying burning power left him riddled with holes.
“Dammit!” His expression shifted, and he roared in fury and attacked with all his might.
In the blink of an eye, he broke free of the mystical Path of the Far Shore.
However, he looked completely wretched.
“Little wretch, I’ll show you the power of a true ruler!” The Blood-Marked Demon Lord roared, his long hair dancing madly around him and shining with blood-red firelight as his entire body transformed.
Countless contorted, worm-like demonic glyphs appeared all over his skin, and his eyes turned dual-pupiled and red. A mysterious black vortex appeared on his forehead.
Kaboom!
His clothing billowed around him, and an ancient demonic domain appeared behind him. Trillions of demons floated within it, their roars shaking the heavens.
Su Yi’s world of samsara suffered a heavy blow, splitting in numerous places as if about to fall apart.
The Blood-Marked Demon Lord seemed like a completely different person. With every breath he took, surging demonic flames swept outward.
When his blood-red, dual-pupiled eyes opened and closed, they fired blood-red divine radiance, like sharp, flying swords. Strange, destructive power swept toward Su Yi.
The mysterious black vortex on his forehead erupted with a terrifying suction power. This was a secret art that targeted the soul. It could easily devour the souls of even gods!
Su Yi suddenly found himself facing an unprecedented threat. However, he wasn’t scared. On the contrary, he was delighted. He too struck with all his might, holding nothing back as he unleashed his greatest sword arts in combination with the power of reincarnation!
Kaboom!
Heaven and earth dimmed. Raging destructive power swept outward.
Su Yi and the Blood-Marked Demon Lord were instantly locked in fierce combat.
Although he was repeatedly injured, and his blood flowed non-stop, he once more entered a wondrous state of enlightenment, repeatedly fusing with Li Fuyou’s attainments in the Dao of the Sword. His power of the Dao of the Sword silently transformed in the process.
A little less than ten minutes later.
Boom!!
The Blood-Marked Demon Lord was plunged into the endless Sea of Bitterness and suppressed. He managed to break free in the end, but his body was already indistinct.
“Dammit!” He roared in fury, and his hair and beard bristled. When he swung his fist, heaven and earth swayed and all of creation broke. His might was enough to make anyone’s heart shake.
But Su Yi’s reincarnation sword intent was endless and self-perpetuating. It outlined one vision of reincarnation after another, manifesting the Platform of Rebirth, the Path of the Far Shore, the Sea of Bitterness, and the cycle of the Six Paths.
The Blood-Marked Demon Lord did his best to break them, but he still couldn’t really break free.
In the end, his ferocity was gradually ground away, and his body grew increasingly indistinct.
In stark contrast, Su Yi’s power of reincarnation seemed increasingly tangible, as if he’d condensed illusions into reality. It was heart-shakingly mysterious.
“I refuse to accept this, dammit!” The Blood-Marked Demon Lord roared with incomparable fury.
Before his voice had even finished echoing through the air, his indistinct figure shattered into a rain of light and dissipated.
Kaboom!
The power of reincarnation dissipated too.
As soon as Su Yi landed, he staggered on his feet and almost fell. He breathed in ragged gasps, his face pallid and his vital energy on the verge of running dry. There were now countless startling wounds all over his tall, upright body.
There was no denying that the Blood-Marked Demon Lord was terrifyingly strong. Indeed, he was stronger than Wen Qingtian, the painter imprisoned on the first floor!
Su Yi wouldn’t have been able to fight much longer. Had the battle continued, he might well have been the one to lose in the end!
He sure deserved to be called Demon Lord… What kind of person was that guy in life? Su Yi couldn’t even imagine it. But then again… He also couldn’t be bothered to try imagining it.
He sat cross-legged and started tending to his wounds. This time, it took him a full three days to fully treat his wounds.
However, he’d benefited considerably from this brutal battle, too. He’d now assimilated almost forty percent of Li Fuyou’s experience and comprehension of the Dao of the Sword!
As his attainments in the Dao of the Sword advanced, his strength grew considerably.
That aside, his knowledge and mastery of reincarnation had obviously improved too. His Grand Dao of Reincarnation was steadily nearing perfection!
This Grand Dao was so taboo because it was composed of numerous other Grand Daos: Rebirth, the Far Shore, and Oblivion, among others. It was thus easy to imagine how difficult it was to master reincarnation in its entirety!
The true, supreme and unparalleled natural order of reincarnation encompassed the past, the present, the future, and all worlds and planes therein. It was far, far, far removed from Su Yi and his current level of mastery.
His current goal was to temper his power of reincarnation to the point that he could use it to prove his Dao and achieve divinity!
Now, his goal was already in sight.
……
Su Yi spent another half day replaying and comparing the details of his battles on the first and second floors to fully assimilate his experiences.
Only then did he proceed to the third floor of the Tower of Ancient Evils.
……
Time slipped by in a flash.
In the blink of an eye, three months had passed!
During those three months, Su Yi had overcome the third, fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh floors of the tower!
On every floor, he fought an incomparably brutal, life-or-death battle.
Furthermore, the higher up the tower he went, the more terrifyingly powerful his enemies were. On several occasions, Su Yi found himself on the brink of a crushing defeat, and he teetered on the edge of life and death.
No words were sufficient to describe the perils therein.
And every time Su Yi overcame a floor, he needed to spend a lot of time and divine medicine to treat his wounds. With each floor, the time he needed to recover increased.
However, the way Su Yi saw it, everything was completely worth it! Every time he tempered himself through life and death, he broke past his old limits and made himself anew. In doing so, he realized a dramatic transformation.
By now, he’d assimilated about ninety percent of Li Fuyou’s experience, and his mastery of the Grand Dao of Reincarnation had grown to startling heights.
Su Yi even sensed that soon, he’d be able to prove his Dao and become a god!!
It was just a pity that after overcoming the seventh floor, he had practically no medicine left. He’d even resorted to using immortal medicines of the Great Realm to treat his wounds.
“By now, my strength is nearing the true limit, but I still have to overcome the eighth and ninth floors…” Su Yi sank into thought.
He was busy treating his wounds in preparation to challenge the eighth floor.
At least, his attainments in the Dao of the Sword and his mastery over reincarnation rose continuously, making him stronger and stronger.
But now, both his swordsmanship and his power of reincarnation were nearing the limit. Any further improvements were extremely slow and difficult.
This was a bottleneck. If Su Yi wanted to advance further, there was only one way to do so: he had to break through!
Su Yi wasn’t worried about breaking through, though. He was more concerned about how he’d face the divine wraiths on the eighth and ninth floors.
Unfortunately, try as he might, he couldn’t come up with any good solutions. He’d just have to adapt on the fly.
Before long, he rose, then entered the eighth floor.
But the battle he’d anticipated didn’t begin immediately.
A man with a feather coat sat in the hall of the eighth floor. He had an otherworldly, mystical air about him. He looked young, but when his eyes moved, they shone with the vicissitudes of countless years. He was like a living fossil, and there was no knowing how old he really was.
A chessboard was placed in front of him.
When he saw Su Yi, the man in the feather coat couldn’t help but sigh. “Fellow Daoist, you’re finally here.”
His voice had an inscrutable flavor to it, as if they were old friends reunited and he’d been waiting a long, long, long time. There was also a wistful quality to it that suggested he’d endured endless torment, and now, he was soon to finally find release.
