First Immortal of the Sword

Chapter 1901: Absolute Power Over Life and Death

Chapter 1901: Absolute Power Over Life and Death

His sword slashed to the west, cutting down a foe thirty miles away!

To the Sword of Proximity, thirty thousand miles were no different from three feet. This was what made the third Mystery of Chaos so terrifying. With it in hand, the ends of the earth were but an inch away. It could slay enemies even across endless distances!

The woman in black died a brutal death, and the Epoch Treasure she left behind, the Blood-Soaked Demonic Diagram, wailed in apparent grief and shot into the distance.

From beginning to end, Su Yi never learned the woman’s name or origins. But then again, he didn’t care.

The all-but-shattered firmament gradually returned to stillness.

Those onlookers so overcome with shock that they’d lost all sensation gradually regained their mental clarity. When their field of vision cleared, they saw Su Yi standing alone beneath the dome of heaven.

Everyone was dumbstruck. The cage of chains had vanished, and so had the spacetime rift cleaving open the sky. Even the grand, imposing deity had… vanished!

What on earth happened? The crowd’s hearts shook.

Earlier, their souls had been intimidated, and their minds went blank. They saw nothing, heard nothing, and sensed nothing whatsoever. Thus, they didn’t see the Sword of the Nine Hells rising into the air, cleaving through the cage, and fighting its way into the nine heavens. They didn’t see Li Fuyou swing it and destroy the avatar of Divine Venerate Eternal Sands from across the spacetime rift. Naturally, they also didn’t see Su Yi use the Sword of Proximity to cut down Fu Tianyi or the woman in black.

Even so, who could have failed to realize the outcome of this battle when they saw Su Yi standing alone beneath the dome of heaven?

The stifled, silent atmosphere broke as the crowd exploded into uproar, like a pot blowing off its lid.

“His Excellency the Eternal Night Immortal Sovereign won!?” someone asked in a quavering voice.

“I’m sure of it!” someone said with staunch conviction.

“Doesn’t that mean that even gods are helpless against His Excellency?” someone asked in a daze.

“His Excellency fought alone, yet he cut down eighty-one Great Unity experts and eighteen Great Profound experts. He slew five divine children and defeated a god. How powerful is he!?” someone sighed, waves of emotion crashing through his heart.

“He pointed his sword into the firmament, invincible. Nothing could stand in his way!”

“Does that mean that His Excellency forced back a god today?”

The crowd was in uproar. Countless voices resounded throughout the cloudy dome of heaven.

The battle had been far too perilous and terrifying, especially when the god appeared. Everyone had felt overcome with helplessness and despair; almost no one had believed that Su Yi could avert a catastrophe of this magnitude. Thus, it was easy to imagine how excited and astonished they were when they saw that Su Yi had emerged victorious!

Meanwhile, atop Cloudsoar Peak, Qi Nie, Xuan Zhong, and the other prominent members of top immortal factions panicked.

“He… forced back a god!?” Qi Nie trembled uncontrollably, unable to accept this.

Divine Emissary Yue Bai’s face was deathly pale. He was completely despondent. “That was a god! An existence far beyond the Immortal Dao, an expert capable of traversing the River of Epochs. How could he possibly have lost to Su Yi?”

He’d served Fu Tianyi. Naturally, he knew that the god who’d appeared earlier was the ancestor of the Fu Family, Divine Venerate Eternal Sands. He could never have imagined that the Divine Venerate would lose!

“The divine daughter was among the greatest of Immortal Sovereigns in the God Domain, and divine blood flowed through her veins. How could she have… died?” Emissary Li Youxue of the Beyond paled. She couldn’t accept this either.

“We lost?”

“How is this….

“How could Su Yi be this powerful?”

Everyone on Cloudsoar Peak was terrified and ill at ease. Chills coursed through their entire bodies.

The Immortal Peach Assembly had been covered in layer upon layer of death traps. Had any Great Profound expert of the present day fought in Su Yi’s place, they would have died beyond a doubt. This as because the divine children weren’t the only ones involved—even a god had appeared! ȐᴀΝʙƐs̩

Yet Su Yi had single-handedly broken through it all. This was unquestionably far too heavy a blow. It was enough to make someone break down.

Su Yi now stood in the air over Cloudsoar Peak, beneath the dome of heaven. His blue robes fluttered in the wind, and the Sword of Proximity circled above his head, billowing with a waterfall of chaos sword qi. No matter where he looked, throughout heaven and earth, there wasn’t a worthy opponent left to be seen!

Su Yi took out a jug of wine, threw back his head, and drank. As the wine poured into his stomach, he felt thoroughly satisfied.

Was it over?

Not yet!

A moment later, Su Yi fixed his gaze at the highest point of the distant Cloudsoar Peak and said calmly, “No matter how much you hated me, you should never have colluded with the demons of the Beyond.

It was just one sentence, but it quelled all other voices in the area.

Li Xiehu, the Sword Fanatic, and the others instantly understood the implications.

Prior to the Age of Fallen Immortals, there was only one thing His Excellency the Eternal Night Immortal Sovereign hated more than demons: the traitors who colluded with them. Yet during the Immortal Peach Assembly, Qi Nie and the prominent experts following him wanted to code sixteen of the Immortal Realm’s territories to the Beyond. They’d unquestionably crossed Wang Ye’s bottom line, and not just by a small step either.

Qi Nie and the others shuddered beneath the weight of Su Yi’s gaze, feeling almost suffocated.

“Collude? You’re ridiculous, Tyrant!” Emissary Li Youxue of the Beyond said coldly, “Do you really think we Nine Races of the Spirit Domain wanted to accept the Immortal Realm’s bid for peace? Let me tell you, all of this was at the behest of the gods! Don’t like it? Go ahead and settle the score with them.

That is… if you dare.”

Su Yi glanced at her and said, “You think I don’t dare? If that’s what you think, then tell me what happened to the divine children just now, or to that god’s avatar!”

Li Youxue’s expression froze in place.

Before she could react, Su Yi stretched out his hand and pressed down on the air. “Also, you’re entirely unfit to stand while you speak to me!”

Li Youxue was comparable to a Great Unity expert, but she was forced to the ground, her kneecaps shattering on impact. Blood gushed from her legs.

Her face contorted with agony, but then, she suddenly raised her head and glared. “Wang Ye, just you wait. You’ve ruined the gods’ plans, but there’s no way the Nine Clans of the Spirit Domain will let this go. An unstoppable storm of bloodshed is soon to befall the Immortal Realm because of what you’ve done here today!”

Her voice echoed throughout heaven and earth.

Su Yi couldn’t help but laugh dryly. “I got sick of hearing nonsense like that long before the Age of Fallen Immortals.”

He raised his hand and tapped the air.

Bang!!

Li Youxue died brutally on the spot.

Su Yi then fixed his gaze on Qi Nie, Xuan Zhong, and the others. Before he even said anything, all of them panicked.

“Su Yi, you said earlier that you wouldn’t massacre the innocent, and we did as you said earlier and spared the captives’ lives. Don’t tell me you’re going to go back on your word and kill us all?” bellowed Sect Leader Nan Wujiu of the Church of Divine Flame.

He looked fierce, but it was obvious to everyone that he was just putting on a strong front!

“I did say that. Do you think yourself innocent?” Su Yi chuckled with derision. “Of course, my promise stands. I’ll spare your sectmates, clansmen, family, and friends. Not you, though.”

With that, he waved his sleeve through the air.

Bang!

Nan Wujiu was a Great Martial Stage cultivator, but he didn’t even have time to react before sword qi blasted him to pieces. This startled the others, leaving them on the verge of a mental breakdown. They were overcome with grief, indignation, terror, and despair.

They felt no different from lambs awaiting slaughter!

When they saw this, the distant onlookers completely boiled over with excitement. Many of them couldn’t help but cheer Su Yi on; they were incomparably delighted.

Earlier, these sect leaders and prominent experts of the Immortal Dao had lorded over them while openly colluding with the demons of the Beyond. Anyone who objected, they heartlessly crushed. Their domineering arrogance earned them the crowd’s deep revulsion. But now, although they still lived, they were effectively inmates on death row.

Of course the crowd was delighted!

Suddenly, the leader of Qianyuan Sword House knelt. “Your Excellency, we had no other choice but to accept the god’s arrangements. Please, show leniency. We’re willing to compensate you and make amends!”

Just like that, the leader of a top faction, a man who intimidated an entire region, knelt!

This completely overturned the crowd’s perception of reality once more.

“You’re bold enough to commit crimes but not to admit to them. Your death is unworthy of pity,” Su Yi said flatly.

Splurt!

The sect leader’s kneeling figure collapsed into pieces.

“Su Yi! Don’t forget that we still have the hostages!” said another prominent expert, his hair and beard bristling with anger as he cast all reservations aside and resorted to threats.

“Oh,” said Su Yi. His voice didn’t so much as ripple with emotion. “Lay even a finger on the hostages, and my promise is void. I’ll kill you anyway, and then I’ll also kill everyone connected to you. Go ahead. Try it.”

He’d never feared a competition of ruthlessness, and he’d never concerned himself with threats, either. The reality was that when you were more ruthless and domineering than your enemies, they’d often back down. It only made them even less willing to act recklessly!

Take now, for instance. The expert who’d threatened him was stunned and uncertain. He in no way dared to “try it.”

“If you die, you can save numerous innocents,” said Su Yi. “So your deaths will at least have a little value, don’t you think?”

Before his voice had even finished echoing through the air, the offending expert died on the spot!

One prominent expert and sect leader after another died. Begging didn’t work, and threats didn’t work either. It was enough to drive the others to madness.

They were lofty experts who stood at the pinnacle of the Immortal Realm. They’d never experienced such helplessness and despair. Nor had they ever considered the possibility that they might die at the Immortal Peach Assembly they’d put so much effort into preparing!

“Screw it! Get him!” someone roared in fury, his eyes bloodshot as he and several others charged into the heavens.

But then, Su Yi swung his sleeves, and the higher-ups were reduced to ash.

Like moths charging into the flame!

Numerous others shrieked in terror and despair, then fled like panicked, masterless dogs. But before they got far, streaks of sword qi descended from the heavens, heartlessly massacring them!

Fresh blood splattered the air, and screams shook the sky. A bloody vision of purgatory unfolded over Cloudsoar Peak.

Su Yi stood beneath the dome of heaven alone, yet he was like a solitary ruler presiding over life and death!

When the distant onlookers saw this, they couldn’t hide their astonishment.

How dazzling were these experts? How glorious had they been over the years? They’d stood above the rest, lofty and superior, with massive, far-reaching authority. A single order from them could shake the four seas. Countless cultivators could only gaze upon them from afar.

Yet now, they’d reached the end of the line. They were put to death like criminals, one by one!

Never mind the present day; even in ages gone by, nothing of the sort had ever happened before.

When word got out, it was sure to shake the entire Immortal Realm.

Today was sure to go down in the annals of history!
