First Immortal of the Sword

Chapter 1891: He Arrives!

Chapter 1891: He Arrives!

The Sword Fanatic’s arrival immediately triggered widespread uproar.

His status was extraordinary. He’d once served the Central Immortal Court, and he was famed throughout the Immortal Realm. His opposition would have an unquestionably enormous impact on Qi Nie’s Immortal Peach Assembly.

At least, that’s what the crowd thought. Qi Nie certainly didn’t think so. None of the higher-ups with invitations to the assembly thought so, either. The way they saw it, no matter who tried to stop them, they’d be no more than mantises trying to block a chariot!

“Go, capture him,” said Qi Nie, coldly issuing orders. He couldn’t be bothered to waste his breath arguing.

Whoosh!

The old man with Great Martial Stage cultivation shot through the air, directly at the Sword Fanatic. The Sword Fanatic fought back with all his might, but in the blink of an eye, he was badly injured.

The crowd’s hearts shook, and they couldn’t help but pity him. Why was this necessary? You had to know you were no match for them. Why try to stop them?

“Kneel!” The old man in black bellowed and swung his palm.

But the Sword Fanatic just grinned, his eyes shining with madness. “Kill me if you want. There’ll be countless others like me!”

Boom!

His body caught ablaze, and he charged at the old man in black. Even if he died, he’d die fighting, and he’d take his enemy down with him!

The old man’s lips curled in disdain. He didn’t change his approach. The only difference was that he activated his cultivation base, and the power of his palm strike suddenly soared.

Bang!!!

The Sword Fanatic was sent flying back, badly injured. A waterfall of blood gushed from his battered frame, and he fell to the ground, unable to get back up.

Deathly silence ensued. Even the birds ceased their song.

The Sword Fanatic’s defeat was so thorough and so crushing that the crowd couldn’t bear to watch.

Moreover, the Sword Fanatic’s crushing defeat ruthlessly intimidated everyone present. Some of those opposed to signing the treaty with the demons swallowed their objections, too afraid to give voice to their fury.

“You’re so weak, yet you dared step forth and act wantonly?” The old man in black laughed coldly and approached with large, powerful strides.

But then, a large, powerful hand appeared out of nowhere, seized the old man by the throat, and held him aloft like a chicken.

“Who are you!?” His expression filled with horror, and his wrinkled face went completely red. He turned to look, only to see a young, handsome face with a gaze as distant and serene as the starry sky.

“You…” The old man in black opened his mouth to speak, only for his neck to snap with an audible crunch. His head hung limply from his shoulders.

Even his life force and soul were eradicated.

“You’re bullying someone weaker than you, yet you’re still acting tough. You’re truly useless.” The young man flung the old man’s corpse away, then crouched down to help the Sword Fanatic up. He said gently, “I had the Tang Family spread word that none of you were to interfere, didn’t I? Why didn’t you listen?”

The Sword Fanatic stared at him in a daze, then broke into a grin. “Sovereign.”

The entire area fell deathly silent. Everyone was dazed. All eyes were on the young man who’d appeared out of nowhere.

Beneath the clear skies, the young man in blue robes looked utterly extraordinary. He emanated no energy fluctuations whatsoever, yet he had a transcendent air about him.

He had casually broken the neck of a Great Martial Stage cultivator. Now, he helped the Sword Fanatic to his feet as if there were no one else around. It was all casual and understated. He made it seem like he was out for a casual stroll through his own backyard.

It seemed as if he had no idea how terrifying his situation was!

“Alright, that is enough. Step back,” said Su Yi, patting the Sword Fanatic on the shoulder.

“Very well!” The Sword Fanatic did as he was told.

Suddenly, a voice full of undisguisable excitement rang out. “Is that you, Your Excellency the Eternal Night Immortal Sovereign?”

The sound spread throughout heaven and earth.

Boom!

The venue boiled over, like a pot blowing off its lid. The endless sea of people reacted as if electrocuted. An enormous commotion arose on all sides.

“The Eternal Night Immortal Sovereign? He… he’s really here!” someone stammered, too excited to speak coherently.

“I just knew it! His Excellency said he was coming. I knew he wouldn’t go back on his word!” said someone else, her eyes flashing with excitement.

“It’s just as the rumors say. The reincarnated Eternal Night Immortal Sovereign is so young. If we didn’t know who he was already, I’m afraid we could never have recognized him…” someone sighed.

A clamor of voices filled the air. All eyes were on Su Yi.

Like pious devotees before a sage!

Who could have forgotten that unparalleled legend of the Dao of the Sword? Who could have forgotten the master of the Little Heavenly Court, the man who killed until the demons of the Beyond no longer dared invade their lands? No one! Despite the passage of countless years, tales of his legendary accomplishments circulated to this day. He’d never been forgotten!

And now, here he was. He’d appeared alone before Cloudsoar Peak, then destroyed a Great Martial expert in a single casual strike!

The mountain shook.

Along its slopes, the experts of the various top factions stopped what they were doing to look at the young man in blue. All of them looked uncertain.

The captives watched from their cages, eyes wide and faces full of excitement.

“He… he really came…” Gong Yuxun looked completely dazed.

The experts who’d stepped forth to express their disapproval lit up with mad delight.

Meanwhile, on the peak, beside the Jade Pool.

Qi Nie, Xuan Zhong, Nan Wujiu, the other leaders of top sects, and various experts of terrifying seniority were gathered here. All of them rose, unable to remain seated. Divine Emissary Yue Bai and Emissary Li Youxue of the Beyond rose too. All of them looked at the same place.

It wasn’t just them. Throughout heaven and earth, and throughout the mountain’s slopes, all eyes converged on the same person.

Su Yi! The reincarnation of the Eternal Night Immortal Sovereign!

He was here!

The entire area was in uproar. The disturbance was so great that it seemed it might well overturn heaven and earth.

A legend had appeared before them. The resulting astonishment and excitement were obvious in the crowd’s expressions.

He was as radiant as the midday sun, unparalleled!

In the face of countless gazes and widespread uproar, Su Yi couldn’t help but sigh to himself. In terms of strength, I might well be on par with my past self, but in terms of reputation? I’m not even close!

All of this uproar over my arrival is due to Wang Ye’s enormous influence on the Immortal Realm. Even after countless years, he’s like an undying legend carved into their hearts!

A moment later, someone snorted coldly.

“What ‘Eternal Night Immortal Sovereign?’ He died prior to the Age of Fallen Immortals! The man before him is the Heretic Reincarnator, the man the gods do not tolerate, and the scourge of the entire Immortal Realm!” said Qi Nie.

His voice boomed like thunder, suppressing the clamor of voices. Everyone’s expressions shifted. The atmosphere was instantly stifled and tense once more.

Su Yi stepped into the air and soared. In the blink of an eye, he stood beneath the dome of heaven.

His robes fluttered around him as he placed his hands behind his back and looked the mountain up and down. Only then did he look at Qi Nie and say, “Strictly speaking, you’re not wrong. In this lifetime, my name is Su Yi.”

He then pointed at the distant Cloudsoar Peak. “I’ve come here today to kill my enemies and sever my enmities, and I won’t rest until I’ve flattened this place.”

His calm voice rang out, leaving the crowd completely stunned. He’d come here alone, yet he wanted to flatten the place and sever his enmities?

In terms of sheer domineeringness, who else in this world could compare?

But Qi Nie just threw back his head and burst into laughter. “Shameless boasting! Even at your former peak, you would never have made it out of here alive!”

The other set leaders and old-timers laughed, their gazes playful. They’d placed an inescapable net. Once trapped, none beneath the god level could possibly survive!

“Cut the crap.” Su Yi took a sip of wine, then looked at the hostages confined on the slopes of Cloudsoar Peak. “Let them go first.”

Qi Nie couldn’t help but laugh derisively. “They’re to serve as sacrificial offerings at today’s Immortal Peach Assembly, slaughtered like pigs and lambs. Who are you to demand I release them?”

Su Yi put away his jug of wine, his deep gaze suddenly sharp and imposing. “When I conduct my affairs, I disdain harming the innocent, but if you think paltry little tricks like that are enough to threaten me, well, don’t blame me for my poor manners.”

“Poor manners?” Qi Nie said slowly. “What, pray tell, do you mean?”

Su Yi said flatly, “Once I’ve crushed this place, I will crush your sects and slaughter your friends and family down to the last man. When you pull out a weed, you ought to rip it up by the roots, right?”

Qi Nie couldn’t help but laugh. “You’re soon to die, yet here you are, threatening us. Don’t you think you’re being ridiculous?”

“Ah, but what if I win in the end?” asked Su Yi. “Who’d dare pass judgment before all’s said and done?”

He swept his gaze across the higher-ups on the peak. “Even if you’re not concerned about yourselves, surely you ought to consider the wellbeing of your sectmates, clansmen, families, and friends?”

The wind carried his calm, casual voice throughout the surrounding area.

Many of those gathered on the slopes of Cloudsoar Peak exchanged glances, their expressions ill at ease.

They could have disregarded just about anyone else’s threats, but this was Su Yi. They had no choice but to carefully weigh the consequences of offending him!

Who didn’t have friends and family? The more powerful a faction grew, the more people they had to take into consideration!

Few in this world were truly cold and emotionless.

The atmosphere was so stifled that the crowd almost couldn’t breathe. Everyone watched nervously.

Su Yi’s tyrannical, domineering attitude left many of them clucking their tongues with amazement.

“I’m sure Blood Firmament told you that I’ve never feared any sort of threat. Think carefully about what you do next,” Su Yi said calmly.

Threats? They might well work on other people, but they’d never worked on him!

Qi Nie’s expression filled with uncertainty.

“A man about to die, barking like a dog. Why pay him any heed?” Divine Emissary Yue Bai said coldly. He almost couldn’t stand to watch any more of this; he could tell that Su Yi was suppressing Qi Nie’s momentum.

Su Yi glanced at him and said casually, “Not long ago, in the territories of the Tang Family, I slew Divine Emissary Zhan Heng. Worry not, you will be following him presently.”

Yue Bai’s expression was instantly unsightly. He indeed knew about that; Zhan Heng was another divine emissary working beneath Divine Son Fu Tianyi. How could he disregard a threat like that?

Li Youxue, the emissary of the demons of the Beyond, couldn’t help but frown. “Don’t listen to his nonsense, everyone. He’s doomed! We absolutely cannot give up the hostages!”

“Ah, so, you’re one of the Formless Demons,” said Su Yi, recognizing her origins at a glance. “Back in the day, I ventured into the Beyond alone save for my sword and killed until the ground ran red with the blood of the Nine Great Demon Clans. Would you believe me if I said that, so long as I leave here alive today, I’ll pay another visit to the Beyond, and this time, I’ll wipe the Nine Great Demon Clans out completely?”

Li Youxue’s expression darkened, and her brow knit with fury. He’d obviously poked a sore spot.

Su Yi had just brought up the bloodiest nightmare in the demons’ history. Even after countless years, they couldn’t forget it.

It was after that brutal, bloody battle that the demons of the Beyond started calling Wang Ye “the Tyrant!”

When the crowd saw this, their hearts and minds shook. Su Yi’s bearing had thoroughly impressed them.

He was just too domineering and tyrannical! With just a few words, he’d rebuked and intimidated his opponent!
