First Demonic Dragon

Chapter 973 - 973: Just a Little Clumsy

Eventually, Abaddon became visibly bored of protecting the peace. There was only so much standing around watching enemies rush to their deaths that one man could do.

He yawned as his boredom reached a peak and he decided he’d seen enough.

“Think you all can handle things here without me?” he asked.

Helios turned around to stare at him.

“Just checking.” Abaddon laughed as he held up his hands.

Helios grunted as he turned his head back. “You go and sort things out with the child. And… do make sure that you aren’t too hard on the child.”

A smile threatened to spread across Abaddon’s lips.

“Stop looking like that before I take off my belt.”

Abaddon stopped smiling.

‘Soft old man…’ He thought.

Abaddon expected to find Courtney in her room when he got back. Ever since she was a child, whenever she and Abaddon were about to have a talk, she hid under her covers, or sometimes the bed itself.

Over the years, he guessed she must’ve gotten really good at hiding, because she was nowhere to be found within her room.

Before he could spread his senses to start looking for her, he felt the entire wing of the house shake dramatically.

More curious than afraid, Abaddon vanished from inside his daughter’s room and reappeared outside where a most surprising sight was already waiting for him.

“Ughhh….”

“Gods.. you two really suck, huh?”

Sif was standing on the ground, shaking her head at a large blue dragon who was leaning against their house and groaning.

Despite never seeing her before, Abaddon recognized her instantly.

“Courtney??”

A deep blue dragon looked up with a large amount of water in it’s eyes. One hand remained on it’s muzzle as it raised the other in a slight greeting. “H-Hey, Dad…”

There were many things Abaddon wanted to say at that moment, but the first thing to rush past his lips was laughter.

“Ha! I guess when you want to learn something you really go for it, don’t you?”

Courtney was looking even more embarrassed with her father laughing at her like this.

“Hey, babe… A little help..?”

Abaddon hears a small, sheepish voice he is intimately familiar with. He turns his head a bit, and finds Izanami dangling out of a tree with some leaves and a new pair of horns sticking out of her head.

Abaddon bit his lip at the sight of her. “Am I allowed to laugh at this?”

Izanami pursed her lips. “No, you are not.”

“Well, yes, but you know it’s important for couples to share a-“

“Babe.”

“Right, right.”

Abaddon grew in height just a bit so that he could help his wife untie herself from the cumbersome tree.

Meanwhile, Sif got the whole thing on video and had already sent it to Bekka.

They would laugh at it later amongst themselves.

Abaddon helped Izanami get to a stable position on his neck. Once secure, she hung onto him for dear life and didn’t show any signs of getting off on her own anymore.

“So… I guess today was something of a learning day then?” He guesses.

“A little less learning and a little more crashing and burning…” Courtney mutters aloud.

She shrinks out of the form of a seventy-meter blue tatsu and lies on the grass with a reddened nose.

“Ah, fuck… Looks like I’m going to need that nose job after all, Dad.”

“Funny.” Abaddon rolled his eyes.

He and Sif wandered over to their daughter and inspected her closely.

Her nose would be fine in a couple of seconds, she was just being a bit dramatic. Aside from that, she had no other injuries aside from the one dealt to her pride.

“I thought our little one needed a little time outside of the house.” Sif smiled softly as she ran her fingers through their daughter’s hair. “Can you believe she asked me to teach her how to change?”

Abaddon’s gaze was locked permanently on Courtney. She pretended that she couldn’t feel him staring.

That became much harder when he got down to one knee and took her face in his hand.

It was a warm gesture. One he probably hadn’t done since Courtney went to 9th grade and she asked him to stop because she wasn’t a baby anymore.

Now, she looked like she had actually missed it.

“…You know, you look just like Tatiana.” He smiled.

For some reason, that made Courtney feel even more warm inside. “…Thanks, Dad.”

Abaddon sat next to Courtney without saying another word. She promptly rested her head on his shoulder.

Sif knew her husband and her daughter well enough to know when there was something that she was missing. And her intuition told her that it may’ve had something to do with the way Courtney was behaving in the hall.

“You two look cozy… Something happen between you?”

Abaddon looked at Courtney. She realized he was leaving it up to her to decide if she wanted to say something or not.

“…I kinda… ran up to join in the fight going on up there?”

Sif could already feel a migraine forming as she rubbed her temples. “Courtney…”

“B-But Dad didn’t let me do anything dangerous.” She finished. “Or at least not… super dangerous?”

Sif and Izanami both turned their head to Abaddon for answers.

“I set up a little one-on-one fight with an opponent not too far out of her league. Since Karliah had been teaching her, I thought things would go well enough with all of us there.”

“So, how’d she do?”

Courtney hung her head in shame before he even answered.

“…There is room for improvement.” Was Abaddon’s only answer.

“I puked in the dragon I killed.” Courtney blurted.

“She did in fact puke.” Abaddon confirmed.

If Sif was already struggling not to laugh at Izanami for crashing into a tree, the added burden of not laughing at her daughter was too much.

“I’m just, uh… p-please excuse me.”

Sif backed away slowly before turning around and hightailing it out of sight.

Apparently, the ability of sound manipulation slipped her mind. Everyone heard her cackling as clear as day.

“…I will be right back.”

Izanami showed a smile that was not a smile as she released Abaddon and followed Sif’s path.

He certainly did not envy their jotunn wife and even said a prayer of recovery for her.

Meanwhile, the sound of Courtney’s embarrassed groans only became louder and louder. Even she couldn’t believe that she randomly vomited in the middle of a fight.

Her parents were literal war gods and she couldn’t even manage to swallow a little throw-up. It was all too fucking embarrassing.

She started to bury her face in the grass again when suddenly Abaddon patted her on the head and made her a most surprising offer.

“You know… our annual guy’s trip is coming up again soon. Think you might like to go this year?”

Courtney blinked. Abaddon blinked.

She slowly raised a finger to point at her chest.

“…I’m a girl, dude.”

Abaddon’s smile threatened to crack.

“I am aware of that.”

“Don’t you think it’ll be weird for me to come?”

“This is your family, not strangers. You’re around them all the time, and besides, Jazmine will be there.” Abaddon incentivized.

Courtney tilted her head. “Then why do you call it a ‘guys’ trip?”

“Have you met Jazmine?”

“Fair point.”
