Chapter 194 Royal Unrest
“This is a joke! You would actually have us bow to this baby dragon?! Not only is he only at the first stage of evolution but he is less than 100 years old as well!” Jasper pointed out.
The vampire was absolutely fuming.
He had long set his sights on the queen and her hand in marriage, even if he would be a ruler without any real power, that hardly mattered to him!
He was certain that all he needed was a little alone time with her and she would surely fall for him!
Now that his plan had been foiled by some sniveling dragon, his anger was indescribable!
Abaddon however continued to say nothing, and watched as the rest of the male vampire lords stood up as well.
In another moment, two of the women stood up alongside them.
Even though they were mesmerized by his good looks, the fact that he was a dragon and an evolved of only the first level proved to be too much to handle together.
Abaddon however was not bothered by this in the slightest and everything was still proceeding well within his expectations.
The dragon looked toward the three women who were still kneeling at his feet.
“No objections from the three of you?”
Kirina smiled and shook her head. “If you are the man chosen by both my daughter and my queen, how could I hope to oppose you?”
Abaddon had to admit, he was more than a little glad that his mother in law was placing her trust in him.
He would do his best not to disappoint her expectations.
‘This bastard… he’s the reason you wouldn’t give me the time of day?!’ Jasper’s mood was getting worse and worse.
The small flirtatious smile she was giving that dragon was unlike any he’d ever received before.
As he took another look at his face, Jasper’s pride wouldn’t allow him to admit he was thoroughly outclassed when it came to looks.
Naturally, Abaddon could sense his building hostility, but payed it no mind.
Instead, he turned his attention to the other two women who were still kneeling beside Kirina.
“No objections from either of you?”
The two women were named Alicia and Robyn.
Felicia was a woman of pale complexion with a pretty face and long dark brown hair.
She had a thin and lithe body that almost reminded him a bit of Lusamine.
Robyn was a woman short dark purple hair that was styled into a bob.
She had a rather studious and serious appearance that conflicted with her large bottom and plump thighs.
The two women looked at each other briefly before nodding and lowering their heads.
Robyn : “I owe the queen my life and you are the man she has chosen to place her faith in. Regardless of if you are a dragon or not, I will follow you.”
Felicia : “As will I.”
Audrina was the most affected by their vow of loyalty.
She knew full well that what was being asked of them wasn’t easy, but it was nice to know that she had cultivated some relationships well enough to induce this level of faith in her decisions.
Abaddon nodded before turning to the seven who were still standing.
“Are you sure you will not regret the decision to oppose me? There will be consequences for this.”
His words only served to agitate the vampires even more.
“This is simply unthinkable…”
“We will never bow before some overgrown lizard!”
“What can you do with only your meager strength?!”
“Even if you are a dragon, your age makes you a nonexistent threat!”
Abaddon took all of their comments on the chin without so much as a change in expression.
When they were finished airing out their grievances, he contacted Audrina telepathically.
‘My love…’
‘It’s fine husband, I understand. If you don’t do it, I certainly will.’ The vampire said reassuringly .
She couldn’t believe the nerve of these mongrels to bare their fangs at her beloved husband!
Did they truly not put her in their eyes?!
Abaddon stood up from the throne and towered over the vampires before him.
“You believe I’m unfit for the throne? Then all you have to do is take it from me.” He said calmly.
The ears of the vampire lords twitched when they heard such an obvious provocation.
“If you can kill me, you can become king. And neither Audrina, nor Isabelle will oppose you.”
“Don’t speak for me, you fuck-“
Smack!
“Shut up, let him speak.” Audrina warned.
Isabelle was too busy rubbing her butt where her sister had smacked her to care about anything else the dragon was saying. ‘You brutish bitch! How could you do that in front of everyone!’
The seven vampire lords looked at the throne hungrily and smiled when they thought of the future.
All they had to do was kill one arrogant dragon, and all of their wildest dreams would come true.
Needless to say, they all nodded their heads in approval.
“Audrina.”
The vampire nodded and her eyes began to glow with a bright purple light.
“Aurora dimension.”
An inky black shadow spread from her feet and engulfed everyone present before dragging them down into the depths below.
–
When the group opened their eyes within Audrina’s personal dimension, they were only momentarily surprised by it’s dreamlike scenery.
They would have stood around a little longer to appreciate it had Abaddon not impatiently stomped on those plans.
“Don’t waste time. Which of you will be the first to step up?”
Again, the casual and domineering way that Abaddon spoke to these vampires who were centuries older than him caused their blood to boil.
Kirina, Alicia, and Robyn all separated from the group and moved to stand beside Audrina and Isabelle.
“My queen… do you truly believe he can defeat all of them?” Alicia asked shyly.
“Of course.” Audrina’s answer was quick and devoid of the slightest hesitation. “Even if he is young, my husband is without a doubt the most exceptional warrior I have ever seen.”
Audrina had a radiant and proud look on her face. To her subordinates who had only ever seen her behave in a businesslike manner, it was like they were seeing another person.
“If my queen is certain, then I do not have any doubts.” Robyn replied formally.
Audrina patted the girl delicately on her cheek just as the first of the vampire lords approached Abaddon.
Michael Zobek was among the oldest of the ten vampire lords.
He was also one of the most respected, hence the reason why no one objected to him challenging Abaddon and taking the throne.
The others were sure that when Michael inevitably won, he would ensure that things largely stayed the same.
All except Jasper, who was a bit more crafty than the rest.
As a warrior himself, he understood that knowing your enemy was half the battle.
He knew that Audrina was not a weak enough woman to fall for a man whose power was something inferior.
Armed with that knowledge, he was around 90% sure that Michael was going to die.
Even against a stage four vampire, Abaddon was eerily calm and uncaring, as if he had several tricks up his sleeve to deal with their huge power gap.
Jasper would study this battle very closely for when he inevitably clashed against the would be king.
Michael removed his weapon from his storage ring : a staggeringly large axe with a blade that was dyed completely red.
“You need only have yourself to blame for this, dragon. Your hubris has caused you to meddle in things that are above you, and for that-“ππ±xt.πΈπ¦
“For how long does this old man intend to prattle on?” Abaddon replied, unmoving.
Ever since he’d come here, he had not donned his armor, drawn his weapon, or even activated a skill.
He was merely standing calmly, with his arms clasped behind his back as he waited for his opponent to take the first move.
Michael’s red eyes glowed brightly as he once again was subjected to blatant disrespect.
“Ignorant beast! I will fashion ornaments from your scales!” he roared.
The vampire lord plunged forward as he raised his great axe high in the air to cleave Abaddon right down the middle.
Abaddon still had not moved from his spot as the giant red blade drew closer and closer to the crown of his head.
Just as Michael was about to claim the victory and slay the foolish dragon, Abaddon sidestepped his attack and let the old vampire’s axe crash into the formless ground.
BANG!
In the millisecond before Michael could recover, Abaddon whipped out a scaly clawed hand and pierced the vampire through the back.
Abaddon pulled out his heart just as Michael removed his axe from the ground and whirled around, unfazed by the pain of having one of his organs pulled out.
This time, Michael slashed vertically with his massive axe as if he was trying to separate the dragon’s upper half from his lower one.
Unfortunately, his blade passed harmlessly through Abaddon’s midsection as his body distorted and crackled with red lightning.
‘Lightning body? So he did have some tricks after all…’
Abaddon took a massive leap backwards and stared absentmindedly at the prize in his hand.
“Do you not understand vampire physiology, dragon? My organs are merely for decoration at this point! If you think taking my heart will bring you victory then you must be confusing me with-“
“Be silent, filth.” Abaddon interrupted coldly.
All of the vampires watched in horror as Abaddon opened his charming mouth wide and took two large bites out of the still beating heart.
As hot blood streamed down his chin and chest, onlookers got chills from the cruel scene that they were sure was no more than an intimidation tactic.
Michael was particularly disturbed, but he swallowed those feelings as he raised his axe once more. “I hope you savored it dragon! It will be your last… meal..?”
Suddenly, the vampire lord began to struggle to hang onto his consciousness.
He had long grown accustomed to every kind of pain imaginable, but right now his every nerve felt like they were on fire. “What… this..?”
Everyone watched in complete surprise as a vampire over twenty thousand years old and the one they expected to become the next vampire king fell forward onto the ground, lifeless.
Abaddon dropped the rest of the heart onto the ground, not finding it worthy of further consumption.
He held out his hand and Michael’s massive axe came flying towards his palm.
‘Bekka would look quite cute wielding this.’ He thought with an imperceptible smile.
Only he would find his furry and powerful wife cute as she swung around an axe that was almost as large as he was.
As he put the axe away into his storage ring, he turned around to face the rest of his slack jawed challengers.
“Which of you is next? I’m still a bit hungry.”
