Chapter 107 Fountain Of Rebirth
It took all of twenty minutes for the demons to snatch the humans from their homes and bunkers before bringing them to the city square.
Screams and wails of panic filled the entirety of the city as people were drug along the streets and forced to their knees.
Though that only lasted until they saw who was leading the demon army.
It was then that Exedra discovered something new about his powers as a sin that he hadn’t realized yet.𝑜𝑣𝔩xt.đť—‡t
Apparently when he went through his body reconstruction, his charm had been elevated to such a degree that it had an interesting effect on humans.
Human males would be filled with anger and jealousy as seeing him brought out waves of insecurity no matter how deeply hidden they may be.
Their auras would become a vibrant red, and that would only increase when their eyes landed on the beautiful women beside him.
A fact that Exedra made a mental note of for later.
Human women on the other hand had complete opposite reactions.
Upon seeing this man their desire to be taken by him overflowed from their bodies.
The scent of their desire, as well as the scent of their nectar leaking from their garden filled the air.
Apparently Exedra’s wives also noticed the smell as well as the looks he was getting and they were… less than pleased.
Bekka and Lailah killed one woman each to send a message that anyone looking at their husband funny would meet the same fate.
Exedra was honestly pretty surprised that Valerie did not seem bothered by this, but when he remembered her experiences with humans, he realized it wasn’t that surprising.
Even though the human women were now thoroughly terrified as they stared at the ground, the handsome face of the demon lord never left their minds.
Children’s reaction to his appearance was what confused him the most.
Young boys idolized him, already forgetting the fear they felt as they were dragged from their beds by the most frightening demons imaginable.
They all thought, ‘This is what a true man looks like, I want to be just like him when I grow up!’
Young girls were certain this must be the prince they’d heard about in so many stories, who’d come to steal them away from a life of normalcy.
They didn’t know it then but later on in life they would have severe difficulty finding husbands as no one could quite measure up to their new standards.
Even though he was clearly a hostile invader, all 2,000 citizens were staring at him with some degree of awe.
‘I guess the purpose of the sins is to corrupt humanity after all.’ Exedra thought.
“I-Illia!”
A man who the young girl would recognize as father Donovan called out to her, shocked to see her out of her cellar and next to a demon king.
“Hm? Is that my brat?!” The girl’s father had finally torn his eyes away from Exedra’s punchable face and stared at the girl next to him.
Upon seeing the men who were responsible for her miserable life so far, the child could not help but shiver uncontrollably.
“You are supposed to be our savior yet you’ve sided with those disgusting demons!!”
“Shut him up.”
Exedra commanded and the nearest Rabisu grabbed the priest’s head and slammed it into the ground.
He kneeled down in front of the young girl who was still shaking.
“Is that your name? Illia?”
The girl shook her head furiously.
“Then can you tell me your name?”
Instead of answering, the girl only looked down at her bare toes.
Exedra gently patted the child’s head.
He still wasn’t sure whether she couldn’t talk or just wouldn’t.
Either way, he wouldn’t force her.
There was another way to learn more about this child’s identity a few feet away.
“Grab those two men and hold them with the angel.”
The Rabisu obeyed his command and swiftly pulled the two from the crowd, knocking them out when they kicked and screamed in protest.
He would interrogate those two later but for now he would execute his plan.
“Humans…”
Exedra’s words had sent shivers down the spines of all present.
They had almost forgotten that no matter how this man’s appearance made them feel, he was first and foremost a demon king and things would not bode well for them.
“I’ll keep this short. Do you want to have a chance to live?”
Unsurprisingly, everyone nodded.
“Good.” Exedra walked towards the fountain in the middle of the square.
He dug his nails into his palm and let the blood flow into the water until it’s crystal clear surface became muddled with red.
“Drink.”
“Y-you.. you want us to become d-demons?” One brave man asked.
Exedra only nodded.
His reasoning for this was simple enough.
Now that he was a sin, he needed influence and that meant he needed demons to rule over.
The Rabisu were great, but he wanted to keep them in reserve as his own little private army.
Something akin to a secret weapon.
Besides, there was a whole city that he needed help molding to fit he and his family’s tastes.
All of the religious stuff around him was gradually starting to wear down his nerves.
“I-I’d rather die than become a disgusting demon!” One among the crowd yelled.
“Okay.” Exedra waved his hand and the nearest Rabisu proceeded to pick the man up and bit into his jugular.
Screams and panic once again rang out as the captives watched their fellow human be eaten alive.
Some fainted, some threw up, but all would remember this scene for the rest of their lives.
“I think their may have been a misconception…” Exedra began.
He silently activated seducer’s hymn and took direct control of their minds. “I am not asking you, I am telling you to drink.”
His words seemed to erase all hesitation from their bodies as their eyes became cloudy and they crawled towards the fountain.
One by one, they all dunked their hands in the bloody fountain and scooped out it’s contents.
Upon swallowing his blood, their eyes rolled back into their head before they collapsed, spasming uncontrollably.
A few simply collapsed and did not move at all and Exedra knew instinctively that those were failures.
Their bodies simply could not handle the influx of magic power so instead of evolving, they simply shut down.
Surprisingly, the young girl standing next to Exedra also moved forward to drink some of the water but he promptly stopped her.
He wasn’t certain she’d survive the transformation and something inside of him was unwilling to let her die.
“It’s not safe, just wait here with me okay?” He asked kindly.
The girl nodded but she never took her eyes off the red fountain or the people collapsing around it.
Once about half of the humans ingested the water, Exedra finally got the long awaited message from the system.
