First Demonic Dragon

Chapter 1044: An Unbeatable Enemy

Chapter 1044: An Unbeatable Enemy

Abaddon wasn’t sure where exactly he was running to because he hadn’t left with any particular destination in mind.

His sole focus was on keeping the Ophanim as far away from his home as possible.

There were plenty of barren domains for him to appear in. But once he was there, what was he supposed to do?

How long could he truly keep these constructs at bay, when they were the only things in the world said to be greater than he?

As Abaddon flew, he felt something hard strike his back and knock him off course.

White streaks shot across his vision as his body spun out of control.

He crash landed in a domain too far away to quantify.

It was a holy land, filled with convening gods who wielded foreign divinities and bolstered unseen appearances.

Some recognized Abaddon. Most did not.

Understandably, those who knew him were greatly perplexed as to why a beast they had only heard about in legends was being attacked.

And by four identical pursuers at that.

The Ophanim who had knocked Abaddon off course was the first to reach him.

He lifted Abaddon up by the back of his neck and pointed his blade towards the eye in the center of his chest.

Abaddon caught the sword between his palms just as it came dangerously close to piercing him.

A red miasma seeped out of his pores. His eyes glowed like new moons in a clear sky.

He turned to the gods standing around, stupefied by the battle they couldn’t understand.

With his last bit of sanity, he gave them a single warning.

’RUN!’

Confused and terrified, the gods scrambled to exit the realm as the situation became even more dire.

Abaddon looked above his head and saw a giant hand coming towards him.

He abandoned his stalemate with the first Ophanim and moved so that he wouldn’t be crushed.

Or at least he tried to.

Before he could move out of the way, one of the angels stabbed him through the thigh and stapled his leg in place.

If he had another fragment of a microsecond, he would have ripped his leg free and kept moving without so much as a change in expression.

But he was out of time.

The force of the giant Ophanim’s palm came down on top of his head.

His arms instantly shot up to protect him from being crushed like an insect.

After returning from the nightmare realm, his physical strength was not everything that it should have been.

His knees didn’t buckle underneath the pressure of the angel’s palm, but they did bend.

And that burned him up inside like nothing else imaginable.

It didn’t matter to Abaddon that he wasn’t at his best. He wasn’t a fan of making excuses for himself.

His pride had been stepped on too many times today.

For the first time in millennia, he had to run from an adversary.

Granted, he was luring them away to make sure that his family didn’t get hurt, but that hardly made a difference in his mind.

Against any other opponent in his home realm, Abaddon was greater than every other god combined.

He could drain the marrow from an enemy’s bones and have it fill up a soda can without moving a muscle. And it would take him less time than he needed to blink.

Abaddon had always believed himself to be untouchable at home. Absolute.

He never thought that there would come a day when he’d have to flee Tehom.

The fact that he was chased out of there by enemies who didn’t even have souls or minds of their own was so upsetting that it nearly drove him mad.

It was like being chased out of your home by a toy car.

His head was pounding. He could feel blood rushing to his every extremity as his skin turned pitch black.

&^%$@*. #$%@&*! #$%@^!!

The ground underneath Abaddon’s feet cracked and started to sink.

Tremors shook the realm as this great and heavenly domain started to unravel.

Tendrils of fabric that held the plane together started to fray, resulting in parts of the landscape disappearing.

If this realm were a finished canvas, then Abaddon’s madness was peeling paint off the walls.

The dragon’s vision had become filled with red. He could barely see silhouettes ten feet in front of him.

But he didn’t miss the moment where two angelic figures appeared in the crater with him while he was holding up their brother’s hand.

He clenched his teeth so hard he nearly broke them.

Of course, they were closing in for the attack now. He was pinned here for crying out loud.

Abaddon’s rage saw another upsurge. He couldn’t believe an enemy was actually attempting to corner him like he was some wild game.

He opened his mouth again, with his voice not fully recovered. Blood slipped past his lips just as easily as venomous words.

“Do you think I’m going to sit here and weep…? Buckle and beg…? Every star will burn out from the sky before you see me dead!”

Abaddon used a tremendous amount of energy to create a second body.

Once that body was clear of the crater, he sent a single command to the duplicate pinned underneath the large Ophanim.

Saying an apology to the animals and plant life living within the realm, the original Abaddon forced his body to begin glowing.

In the next moment, an explosion occurred that was completely unlike any that had ever preceded it.

Saying that it was loud didn’t even begin to cover the damage. It was apocalyptic.

In a single blink of an eye, an entire realm was blown apart.

There, in the space between realms, shreds of debris and wisps of flame were all that remained.

And of course, competitors.

Abaddon was breathing heavily.

He’d somehow sustained a head wound in the blast. More blood leaked down the left side of his face and into his eye.

As his chest rose and fell, a helpless smile formed on his lips.

His hoarse voice was the only sound that could be heard in the middle of limbo.

“I… never want to hear anyone say anything about me being too overpowered ever again.”

Floating in limbo with Abaddon were all four of the Ophanim.

Two of them were missing an arm or a wing and their bodies looked to be on the verge of cracking.

However, the third, larger clone hovered just behind them.

As far as Abaddon could tell, it was only missing a hand.

’That fucking hand’ he growled to himself before realizing something was wrong. ’… Wait.’

Abaddon finally noticed that he was missing an enemy.

He looked around, but didn’t find the last one anywhere near him.

’Don’t tell me…’

He looked up through his blood-streaked vision.

Staring back at him was perhaps the single largest enemy Abaddon had ever faced.

The reason he couldn’t find the fourth Ophanim before was that he was standing in the center of its palm.

As for how long it had been there, he couldn’t say.

For the first time in a long time, Abaddon found himself feeling as if a situation was absurd.

He threw his head back and laughed without knowing the reason.

He ignored the pain in his throat. In his stomach.

Some instances simply demanded laughter, regardless of the consequence.

He wiped a tear from one of his eyes as he finally calmed himself down.

“I haven’t had to push myself like this in so long… I’m going to sleep for a month after this.”

Once more, Abaddon’s body began to glow with an innate light.

“It is going to be… tremendously satisfying when I feel your heads crack beneath my-”

“QUAKE IN YOUR BOOTS, GOLEMS!! THE GOLDEN ONE IS HERE!!!”

Abaddon’s jaw dropped open when he saw a large golden dragon suddenly appear in limbo with him.

He was equal parts stunned and horrified, so the only word that ended up escaping his lips was: “…Grandfather?”

Helios expanded his size to it’s utmost limits.

He rammed all three of his heads into the largest Ophanim present and succeeded in knocking it back.

Though this only lasted a fraction of a second before the giant corrected itself while seemingly no worse for wear.

“You’d better duck, old man!!”

Behind Helios, a colossal sword of red light formed out of thin air.

The blade hovered just above the hands of Kanami and Hakon; gaining more power and size with every second that went by.

Roaring together, Kanami and Hakon brought the blade down on top of the titan’s head.

The two damaged Ophanim formed a wall of divine light to protect their brother.

Abaddon was mortified as more and more of his family started showing up.

He tried to yell out and tell everyone to flee, but his voice failed him.

A familiar figure filled his vision and placed a hand over his lips.

Sif took one look at her husband and her eyes began to water.

Her tears turned to snow on her cheeks and she brushed them away angrily.

“I swear to god…. You better hope we all die today because if we don’t then I’m going to kill you!”
