Chapter 521 - Elder Seer
Chapter 521 – Elder Seer
Chapter 520: Elder Seer
Meanwhile, Charles nodded his head, placed his right leg on the carriage step, and walked in.
Then, he turned around and sat on the leather seat while facing the front.
On the other hand, Jessie ordered the coachman to tie the horse rope and entered inside. Following that, she sat on the opposite seat and closed the carriage door.
The next instant, Charles felt a spatial fluctuation inside the carriage and soon nodded his head in understanding.
"It's a spatial spell to block others from spying our conversation, huh?"
"It's common for the mages to use these types of artifacts in this city, Mr. Charles." Jessie paused for a moment, covered the half-glassed carriage door using curtains, and then added with a serious look on her face.
"I'm sorry for your loss, Mister. Because of our careless actions, you lost your grandfather." She bit her lips in frustration as she said those words.
Meanwhile, Charles went stunned for a moment and soon shook his head.
"Don't apologize. I know very well who was responsible for that incident." He waved his hand and instantly thought of changing the subject.
"Let's come to our current business. Can you tell me more about this city? I want some information about those three towers, the three Demigods, districts, Museum location, and other related subjects."
A flash of surprise appeared on Jessie's face.
'I know he is a cold and a heartless person, but I didn't expect him that he wouldn't even show a slight change in emotions.' She sighed heavily and then answered his previous questions.
"There are five main districts in the City of Miracles, Mister. The first one is called 'Underground District.' It's a place where the rogue mages, shady organization members, and evil god followers reside. The one who controls this district is the Demigod Miguel. He is the head of the Tower of Curses and has full authority over the city's security force. Recently, he even appointed a young legend rank guy named 'Professor' as the new Director of Security and his move was welcomed by all over the city. He has a good reputation among the mages for maintaining law and order." Jessie deliberated for a moment and then continued.
"The second one is called 'Merchants' Market.' It's a place where you can buy any common artifact or potion and is famous for businesses. The city museum is also located in this district. The third one is called 'Magus Center.' It's the district where the Magic Towers are located, and the whole area is under the control of the Demigod Rafael. He is also the head of the Sun Tower and has absolute authority over the City of Miracle."
"Absolute authority?" Charles asked in surprise.
"Yes. After the last planar war, the City of Miracles came under the control of the Sun Tower, and Demigod Rafael became the president of this city. Although Demigod Miguel was dissatisfied over this issue, he didn't dare to revolt against Demigod Rafael and focus his attention mostly on planar invasions and other magic-related stuff." Jessie said in a calm tone.
Meanwhile, Charles nodded his head and asked further.
"What about the other two districts?"
"The four and fifth districts located on the other side of the city and are under the control of the Demigod Emerson. Emerson is also positioned as the head of the Mirror Tower and is the son of Demigod Rafael. Many say that he will become the next president of the City of Miracles in the next few decades." Jessie answered politely.
'Oh? Then, Rafael's family is the one who controls the city, huh.'
Charles nodded his head in understanding and soon frowned as he noticed that the carriage stopped all of a sudden.
Jessie also noticed this and opened the door in a hurry. She then stuck her head out and looked at the situation.
At that moment, she saw that more than fifty soldiers clad in silver armors stood up ahead and were blocking the carriages and people from moving further. She also noticed that the other carriages were turning around and were moving in the other direction.
"What happened?" She asked the coachman in confusion.
"The security officers blocked the road, Young Lady. I think something serious must have happened up ahead." The coachman jumped down from the driver's seat and then added.
"Wait inside the carriage for a while. I'll go and check the situation."
Soon, he removed the leather hat, placed it on his seat, and walked towards the group of soldiers.
A few seconds later, he returned with a solemn look on his face, opened the carriage door, and spoke in a hurry.
"Someone assassinated the Elder Seer, My Lady!"
"Elder Seer?!" Jessie's eyes widened in surprise as she heard those words and soon turned serious.
Following that, she activated her [Mind Storm] skill and closed her emerald green eyes.
At that moment, countless pieces of information appeared in her mind and soon formed into a virtual map of the whole city.
She soon opened her eyes and spoke in a hurry.
"Turn around the carriage. We are going to the Museum through the Crystal Land."
"But it's in the opposite direction, My Lady. It would take extra 15 minutes to get to the Museum!" The coachman shook his head at her idea.
At that moment, Charles looked at the coachman through the opened door and ordered.
"Do as what she says."
The next instant, coachman felt like he had heard an order from the god itself and hurriedly nodded his head.
He soon turned the carriage around, drove it towards the opposite side, and entered the side road.
On the other hand, Jessie sat inside the carriage and frowned deeply.
"What happened? Who is this Elder Seer?" Charles asked in confusion.
"He is a Rank-5 [True Seer] Class Mystic and also a legend rank Ice mage. Who on earth has the guts to assassinate such a powerful figure in broad daylight?" She couldn't help but ask herself in confusion. Soon, she opened the side curtain and added.
"He is a best friend of Demigod Rafael and also the only powerful Seer residing in this city. But who did it?"
Meanwhile, Charles also fell into deep thoughts and spoke.
"Well, someone already did it, right? They must have their own agenda. Would his death pose a problem to our plan?"
Jessie shook her head at Charles's question and spoke.
"Although his death might cause the security to tighten a little, I don't think it would affect our plan."
'That's reassuring.' Charles nodded his head, shifted his gaze towards the outside, and patiently waited for the carriage to reach the Museum.
On the other hand, the coachman drove the carriage through different routes under the guidance of Jessie and soon reached the Merchants' Market around 7.35 A.M.
He then drove on the Merchants' Market road and soon reached the Museum within the next 5 minutes.
Charles and Jessie stepped out of the carriage the next second, glanced at each other, and then went towards the five-storied building.
