Chapter 491 - Warning
Chapter 491: Warning
Three hours ago.
The Light Kingdom.
The Holy See was located in the western corner of the Light Kingdom and surrounded by a thick black fog that covered the surrounding areas. Although it was close to two neighboring kingdoms, the surrounding forest acted as a wall for any invasive force from outside.
It was called the 'Nightmare' Forest.
As the name suggests, this place had some close link with the Dream World. Anyone who dares to cross this forest without any help from the Light Church would find themselves lost in the woods forever. It was more like a maze forest than a Nightmare Forest!
There was only one official route from the East to the Holy See, but it was under the control of Light Knights. So, anyone who wants to come here must pass through that path.
At that moment, a young holy knight walked out of the dense forest while tying his pants using a knot and soon breathed a sigh of relief as he saw a group of people waiting for him on the dirt road.
Currently, they were in the middle of their journey towards the Holy See.
"What took you so long, Bennett? Didn't you just go there to take a leak?" An elderly man in his grey robe stepped forward and asked him.
Meanwhile, the young Knight named Bennett scratched his head awkwardly and responded.
"I almost went in the other way and got lost, Father."
The elderly man chuckled in amusement upon hearing his words and gestured everyone to follow after him.
Then, the group continued to walk for the next few minutes and finally managed to see the Holy See's outer wall from afar.
Bennett saw a tall stone wall up ahead and noticed that hundreds of Holy Knights were standing on it.
'Security is too tight.' He even saw a long line of the queue and frowned.
The group soon reached the eastern entrance gate and joined the queue.
After some time, Bennett and others also went through basic checkups at the entrance and entered through a small metallic gate.
Once Bennett and others entered the city, he left the group and moved independently.
The Holy See was a city bustling with full of life. Unlike other towns and cities, this city was wholly enclosed by a 10 meters tall wall and appeared to have strict security measures.
As he took a step on the concrete-like road, he sensed the light elemental energy in the surrounding air and soon froze.
'Inhaling too much light energy might cause imbalance to my 'Skin Change' skill!' He raised his eyebrows and scanned the surroundings.
'I have to search for that particular building. Lord Charles said that it should be located in Oak Street.' At that moment, multiple pieces of information about the Mysterious Seer Victor, the Holy See's complete blueprint, a particular memory of a room next to dome-shaped churches appeared in the deepest part of his mind.
Indeed, the young holy Knight was none other than Irzoch in disguise!
After Charles left Irzoch and Melody in the woods, both came up with a bold plan and decided to put it now.
'Thankfully, Lord Charles gave us multiple pieces of information about our secret mission! Otherwise, it would be too difficult to even get near the city. Time is running out.' Irzoch took a step forward and walked on the main street road while glancing around.
Hundreds of people were rushing around and had a lot of energy, so the atmosphere was lively. Although it was a city with a few million populations, it was rich in life and culture.
She could hear lots of different languages and music. Most of the people in this city seemed to have skills in multiple fields and were busy with their work.
The streets were filled with thousands of people, and carriages were speeding down them. Because of that, every street had sounds coming out of it.
While analyzing, Irzoch continued to walk towards Sacred District and soon entered 'Oak Street.'
Then, she took some time to locate the exact building with the help of new memories and then started to think of a plan.
...
45-A Dimitri Street, Knights' District, Holy See, Light Kingdom,
At that moment, two people entered a two-storied building situated next to the Library building and walked into the reception hall.
One guy was a 50-years-old man who looked more like a bodyguard, while the other was a slightly obese man.
Once they entered the reception hall, the slightly obese man went near the sofa, sat on it, and spoke in a solemn tone.
"You should wait here until you receive His Majesty's signal, Lord Commander. As long as you don't go outside, no one will get suspicious."
Meanwhile, Commander Corey removed the helmet from his head, placed it on the nearby table, and nodded.
"I hope everything ends peacefully." He said nervously, took out a black-colored cloak from his leather bag, and wore it over his linen clothes. Then, he placed his soul imprint on the cloak and soon understood how to activate this artifact. After that, he went towards the nearby window, opened it from inside, and looked at the clear blue sky.
At that moment, he saw dark clouds starting to visible up in the northern and eastern sky and seemed to be moving in the Holy See's direction!
...
Hours passed slowly.
It was around evening 5 p.m.
Even though the sun was still up in the western sky, the dark clouds had already shrouded the city and made it look gloomier. Flashes of lightning and rumbling thunders echoed everywhere, planting a strange sense of uneasiness in everyone's heart!
There stood a single towering church at the center of the Holy See.
The front of the Church was decorated with several pillars supporting two floors. On top of the two floors was a vast white-colored dome visible from anywhere. The light from the dome was bright, and even though it was in the evening, its brightness was too strong for one's eyes. It lit up the entire surroundings and made the Church look so dazzling.
On the right side of the Church stood another tall building with multiple floors that looked similar to a school. It also had a giant dome on top. However, it looked like the building was made of metal instead of wood.
It was a Museum building and held a whole lot of treasures inside. The secret chamber was also hidden somewhere in the tall building!
The left side of the Church was an extensive library with the largest library in the Holy See. It also had a large dome on top.
Currently, the whole sky was covered with thick clouds and looked eerier.
It was as if nature itself was giving warning signals to the Holy See's ruler about the impending danger!
In truth, the ruler also noticed the anomaly!
At that moment, a white-robed old man in his late 70s suddenly opened his eyes in Main Church's hallway and stood up from the front pew. The old man was the Pope of the Light Church, and his black robe made him look frightening, and his long white hair made him look more menacing. His eyes were pure oceanic blue, and he was almost around 2 meters tall!
"Something is coming!" He currently held a golden crozier in his hand, looked up at the dome, and muttered in a grave tone.
