Chapter 411 - Bishop Of The Light Church
Chapter 411: Bishop of the Light Church
His childish voice attracted the Light Church's Knights and the soldiers who stood on the fortified wall.
But as they saw his shabby look, a few soldiers cried out in surprise.
"My Lord!" "What happened?!" "Our Young Lord is here! Open the gate!"
Yes, only a few soldiers shouted from above. Meanwhile, the rest stood on the wall with a stern look and didn't look at him.
With a simple glance, anyone could tell that they were foreigners of this territory.
'Who are they?' Charles's eyebrows rose upward.
Although Charles saw the Grime Plains emblem on their chest, he knew they didn't belong here.
.'Outsiders? Who brought them here? Is this the kid's Teacher's doing? Yeah, it seems likely the case.' A cold glint appeared in his eyes.
On the other hand, a white-robed middle-aged man excluded the Light Knights and soon arrived in front of Charles. He had long silver hair, grey eyes, a square face, and seemed to be around 178 cm high. He also held a unique golden staff in his hand and looked more like a church priest.
He then sized Charles up and down and asked.
"Are you the Baron of the Grime Plains, kiddo?"
His tone was neither friendly nor impolite. But his face showed clear signs of surprise and shock as he analyzed the bloodstains and wounds on his body.
'T-This kid... Did he come from the battlefield?! H-How could these people send such a fragile kid to a battlefield? And, why did Victor want to arrest this kid?' He couldn't help but get confused inside.
"I'm Baron Daniel. May I know who you are?" Charles asked while gripping his sword tighter.
Noticing his action, the white-robed man raised his eyebrows, gripped the golden staff tighter, and spoke in a deep tone.
"I'm the Bishop Blake of Aetas Kingdom and also the ambassador of the Light Council, Lord Baron. The reason we came here is to inquire about your earlier actions and put you in custody. We received a complaint from our fellow Bishop that you've violated the Light Council rules and harmed the citizens of Ammar Dynasty."
As he ended his speech, the Light Knights unsheathed their swords and pointed them in his direction.
Upon seeing this, Charles frowned deeply and shifted his attention towards the surrounding soldiers.
He could tell that they came here in a hurry and got more confused.
'Something isn't right. Are these guys from Ammar Dynasty's side? No, they would've come here. Ammar Dynasty knew that the chance of Daniel and his men defeating their soldiers was close to zero. Moreover, they also appeared to be afraid of this Light Council's interference. Hmm, this Bishop seemed to have long known about Daniel's successful return. What is this strange situation?' He fell into deep contemplation.
'Do I've to use my spells here?' In truth, he didn't want to use his spells at all.
One single mistake and others might think of him as a demon or something. Although he wasn't afraid of these locals, he felt it was necessary to hide information about his magic spells.
'That bald commander also said something about the evil sorcerer. Unfortunately, that Daniel kid had no memory of such a job. It seems I've no choice but to use it now.'
He soon shook his head, moved towards the nearby bush, and took out the bald commander's head from it.
Then, he shifted his attention towards the white-robed man and tossed it to him.
"Do you know who this person is?" Charles asked.
In the meantime, Bishop Blake reflexively caught the bald head and soon asked in a trembling voice.
"Radiant Knight Arlo! How? Who killed him?!" He was beyond shocked by his action.
At that moment, all the Light Knights showed startled expressions on their faces and looked at each other in confusion.
They were puzzled about whether to apprehend this young boy or not.
On the other hand, Charles suddenly raised his long sword, pointed the tip at Bishop Blake's neck, and spoke with a nod.
"I killed him, Mr. Blake. Do you want to check it out? I wouldn't mind cutting your head if you didn't answer my questions properly."
He didn't even bat an eye at the hundreds of Light Knights and threatened him.
His words caused the Bishop to be frozen stiff.
As he saw the sharp blade touch his smooth skin, cold sweats started dripping down from his forehead.
'Oh, dear! We're too late! This kid had already entered the path of darkness!'
Before he could think further, Charles locked his gaze on Bishop Blake and asked a question.
"Who told you to come here and arrest me?"
But just as Blake was about to open his mouth, he suddenly forgot what he was about to say!
In the meantime, a few pieces of information appeared in Charles's mind.
'Oh? A Bishop from the Light Kingdom told him to arrest me? If not, he even told this Bishop to stay in this town and monitor my every action? Also, he predicted that Daniel would turn into an evil human consumed by darkness? Who is he?' Surprise flashed on his face.
'It seems this world isn't a normal one. So, there is already a human who predicted the change in the timeline? Is he a Seer?'
While he was in muse, Bishop Blake's face went pale as white.
'What is this feeling?! Why am I trembling?' He gulped down his saliva and tried to seek help from the nearby Light Knights.
Unfortunately, they were also caught off guard by Charles's action and showed a bitter smile on their faces.
'I didn't sign up for this shit! Damn it, Victor! I shouldn't have trusted that maniac's words and came here in a hurry to arrest this kid.'
While he was cursing the main culprit in his mind, Charles pressed the sword tip against his neck and made a small cut.
"You still haven't told me about this Radiant Knight Arlo, Mr. Bishop." He added.
Upon sensing the sharp pain, Bishop Blake got panicked inside and responded in a hurry.
"He is the seventh division's sub-commander of Ammar Dynasty and is responsible for reconnaissance missions, Lord Baron."
This time, he even responded politely and showed a nervous look on his face. Although two Radiant Knights were accompanying him this time for protection, they weren't helping him at all.
Meanwhile, a pleased smile appeared on Charles's young face.
If they hadn't seen him upfront, they would never believe that there exists a young kid with such ferocity and cunningness.
"Sub-commander, is it? Why did he come to my territory with his army soldiers? Wait. Could it be your Light Kingdom is allying with the Ammar Dynasty to overthrow Aetas Kingdom's rule? Now that I think about it, this bald man also said something similar like this." He locked his gaze on Bishop Black and lied without even flinching.
On the other hand, Bishop took a step back and responded with a stiff smile on his face.
"N-No, Lord Baron. I think we got the wrong information. We never had an intention to overthrow this kingdom's rule."
"Wrong information? What if I didn't take the enemy commander's head? Wouldn't you guys arrest me in the name of Light Council and ruin my reputation?" Charles spoke in a cold tone and retracted his sword.
Then, he glanced at the surrounding knights and added.
"You guys can go back to your home now. If you want to arrest me next time, come with some valid proof. Otherwise, I wouldn't mind cleaning up the corrupted souls in the name of our Almighty Goddess."
Saying so, he turned towards the town's entrance and soon noticed all the citizens were walking out while holding different kinds of weapons in their hands.
Although they appeared cheering on the outside, he also saw that many were showing nervous expressions on their faces.
But there was something else that caught his attention most.
At that moment, he saw more than 50 unusual people among the masses and got surprised a little.
With his swift observation using the wisdom power, he learned that all of them were powerful Knights.
Without any delay, he activated his [Arcane eyes] skill and analyzed them one by one.
'Oh? 36 Expert Level Knights and 14 Crystal Knights! But they are not the only outsiders.' He subconsciously turned his gaze towards the fortified wall and noticed more than 30 more unfamiliar Knights standing over there.
'They aren't from Daniel's territory... No, they are not even the residents of Aetas Kingdom.' He also saw three of his Teacher's disciples among the group and felt that this matter hadn't been over yet.
On the other hand, Bishop stood there frozen for a while and soon ordered the Light Knights to retract their swords.
Then, he looked up at the darkened sky, turned his attention towards Charles, and asked with an awkward smile.
"Can you let us stay in the town till morning, Lord Baron? Although there aren't any monsters near the Grime Plains, we feel unsafe to travel during the night."
'Oh? I thought about how to solve these outsiders' matter but didn't expect this righteous group would be willing to join in the fun.'
"As long as you and your knights didn't disturb the citizens, you are free to feel to stay here. But you've to follow the rules of this land, though." Charles said in a calm tone, excluded the crowd, and soon arrived at the entrance.
Then, he turned his gaze towards one of the Teacher's disciples and ordered.
"Go and bring Teacher Colt here, Mr. Holden. I've something important to tell." He paused for a moment and asked.
"Where is he now?"
"H-He is staying in your mansion, D-Daniel." The disciple named Holden answered stiffly.
Meanwhile, Charles nodded his head and stepped into the town. But as he walked further on the main road, many citizens came from different streets and blocked his path before asking him about their family members' whereabouts.
Upon seeing such unrest in the town, a deep sigh leaked out of Charles's mouth.
'It's better to act as a good kid for now.' He glanced at the Light Knights and soon spoke.
"They fought bravely and protected this land with their blood and flesh. Without their help, I wouldn't be standing here. Forgive me."
His response silenced everyone for a while.
Then, loud cries of women and children echoed all over the streets.
Soon, the news about him returning from the battlefield alone spread all over the town.
Some cursed at their misfortune, while the rest prayed for the Goddess's protection. Alas, none of them blamed Daniel.
