Chapter 256 - Her Weakness
Chapter 256: Her Weakness
"What-?"
Marissa tried to use her defensive spell, but Charles suddenly exerted his full strength, tightened her neck.
At that moment, he moved behind her body and pressed his other hand towards her neck.
Although an invisible layer appeared around her neck area, the sharp dagger shone in red light, tore through her defensive spell and started slicing her neck.
Simultaneously, Charles activated the [Accelerate Thoughts] and [Arcane Eyes] skills, analyzed her every action, and soon noticed that she was trying to transform.
Unfortunately for her, he cast [Burning Thoughts] spell and [Fire Seed] spell on her and prevented her from thinking.
Meanwhile, Charles's dagger entered deep into her skin and sliced her throat.
Reddish blood gushed out from the sliced area and sprayed on the white bed sheet.
In an instant, her bloodline spell called [Crystal Mind] activated on its own and nullified Charles's spells!
The next second, Shock and disbelief appeared on Marissa's face.
At that moment, she saw Charles was looking at her face from the corner of her eyes and went pale.
His eyes were cold and motionless as if he was looking at a corpse!
An uncontrollable rage appeared in her mind.
'I need to kill him.'
Although Charles sliced her throat in half, she didn't lose her calm and tried to look into Charles's eyes to cast her innate skill [Medusa's Gaze]!
She was taking a big risk here!
If she had used the opportunity to cast [Illusionary Shock] spell, she could have escaped his grasp.
But she didn't take that opportunity at all.
Instead, she became firm on killing the assassin!
During the past few years, she never went out of this Black Tower and never revealed her power to outsiders!
No one in this Tower knew about her bloodline abilities!
As long as she succeeds in using this skill on this enemy, she could turn the table and make him pay 100 fold!
Unfortunately, Charles came prepared and never looked into her eyes.
Instead, he lowered his gaze and completely fixed his gaze on her wounded neck.
Charles knew that this woman would take risks to kill him, so he used that weakness against her!
Simultaneously, he moved his dagger and started stabbing her fleshy chest continuously!
By the time Marissa realized that she had fallen into his trap, her whole body was drenched in reddish blood.
"Eternal Life." She shouted with all her might.
The next instant, her whole body started to transform.
Her lower half changed into a snake-like body while her upper body remained as before.
But the wounds on her neck and chest started to heal slowly!
Meanwhile, her red hair started to turn into some creepy black ones and appeared more like snakes.
No, tens of snakes appeared on her head and continuously hissed at Charles.
Some even slithered towards his hand and face and bit him non-stop.
'No! Something is wrong with her body... Even her body flesh appears smoother and softer. Is this some special trait of being a Warlock? Tsk, I will focus on her weakness then.' Charles's face turned colder.
Without any hesitation, he pulled the dagger and directly stabbed it into her left side shoulder!
From his earlier observation, he learned that her left-side shoulder area was her main weakness!
A crystal-breaking sound echoed, followed by her loud gasp.
The next instant, Marissa's whole body went limp.
…
[Target Eliminated! 323,500 Exp obtained!]
…
'Her consciousness is destroyed…. Warlocks mostly rely on their body strengths and abilities. It's similar to your Trickster class.' The Holem's Crown responded calmly.
'That crystal is something like the core of her main consciousness?' Charles asked.
He clearly remembered that no second consciousness appeared earlier in Marissa's Inner World to stop his Mind Fire spells from erasing her memories.
'Unlike Mages, some Warlocks' souls would merge with their bodies, lad. That's why her defensive spell activated on its own and erased your mind fire spells. If you had faced her head-on, you would have learned how terrifying a Warlock's spells could be.' The Holem's Crown paused for a moment and added.
'You are always scheming against your enemies, using their weaknesses and not fighting fairly at all.'
"So what? Don't say that I'm not fighting fairly, old man. It's called tactical combat. That's why I'm still alive, while they are all dead."
Saying so, Charles decapitated her head and stored it in a separate space ring.
'Assassination succeeded.' He couldn't help but show a pleasing smile.
If it was on Earth, he could have killed the target in a single attack.
Unfortunately, there were too many strange abilities in this world that could save the target's life from near-death situations.
'Moreover, she had too many opportunities to warn others, but her reckless character is the one that caused her demise.' He shook his head, started searching for her space ring and soon found it in the table drawer.
He then erased her soul imprint, marked it with his own and started checking the contents.
'Tens of Midday potions, one constitution type sunset potion, potion recipes, the pitiful disappearing gold coins, alchemic materials, herbs, and even an extraordinary artifact called 'Stone of Fear.' But I think she must have one more extraordinary artifact….' He thought for a moment and soon sighed.
'I should finish my job and leave before others could notice the anomaly.'
Nodding inwardly, he took out Benjamin's and Vivian's bodies and placed them on the floor.
Due to no presence of air, both of their bodies appeared fresh as new.
No, only Vivian's body showed a slight decomposition, and that's it.
Without wasting any time, he took out a long sword, slashed at Vivian's neck area and decapitated her head.
Then, he stored her head in the separate space ring and turned his gaze towards Benjamin's body.
'Tsk, I've no interest in Rank-3 Mystic's head.' He shook his head and started walking towards the bathroom.
He then took a short bath to remove the bloodstains, changed his cloth into a new one and walked out of the bathroom.
Then, he checked if everything was okay, walked out of the room, locked it from the outside and started moving downstairs.
'There must be one or two Rank-4 Mystics staying in this Tower. Fortunately, no one is using their wisdom power to scan the surroundings in fear of disturbing Reid. It's a good thing for me, anyway.' He nodded as he walked on the lone hallway and soon reached the staircase.
He didn't dare to delay any longer and started walking downstairs.
Although a few robed Mystics cast their gazes at him when he reached the ground floor, none showed any suspicious glance.
Instead, their eyes were filled with jealously and envy!
Without minding their gazes, Charles took a step forward and started walking towards the right-side corridor.
He walked on the smooth floor for a while and soon appeared at the end of the corridor.
Same as before, a metal door appeared in front of his eyes, guarded by two Undead Knights.
But unlike the last time, no blue fires appeared in their sockets, and they seemed more like statues!
'Their souls left?' He cast a curious look at the skeletons.
'After Reid's death, these souls must have gained their freedom and entered the Eternal River of Life for the next reincarnation like normal souls.' The Holem's Crown explained patiently.
Charles nodded his head in understanding, removed those two blocking spears, unlocked the metal door and walked into the gloomy passage.
He soon appeared in front of the underground Throne Hall, pushed open the other door and entered.
His gaze moved past the luxurious chairs and pillars and soon landed on the broken humanoid skeleton still seated on the bone throne.
The corner of Charles's lips rose upward as he stepped forward and started walking towards the throne.
He soon arrived in front of the throne, stepped on the dais, and appeared near the humanoid skeleton.
He then moved his hand, gripped the neck region, broke the vertebra, and silently caught the skull before storing it in the separate space ring.
Then, he searched the skeleton's hand, took a black-colored spatial ring from his left skeletal hand, and checked it.
Unlike Marissa's one, he found no extraordinary artifact at all. Instead, soul-related research notes, soul stones, strange scrolls, and a few weird things appeared in the ring.
Just when he was about to click his tongue, a sharp wisdom power scanned the whole Tower from outside.
'A Rank-4 Mystic? No, it appears powerful than a normal Rank-4 Mystic's power.' His face turned solemn.
'A peak-level Rank-4 Mystic.' The Holem's Crown also analyzed the power behind the earlier scan and said in his mind.
Before Charles could make an accurate guess, a raging female's voice echoed from outside.
"Charles! I finally found you!"
It was Louise's voice!
Meanwhile, Charles's expression changed drastically.
"Divine must have given her some clue about my location. It's the worst outcome." He couldn't help but mutter in a grave tone.
