Chapter 982: Chapter 487: Curious Objects (Part 2)

Due to being held hostage by the Weapon Race, Murein was somewhat uncertain, but he further explained that the high-tier warriors he mentioned were somewhat similar to the strange "Annihilation Knights", possessing inhuman power.

"That is the ’Sub-grade Star Soul’." Li Ang said.

Upon hearing "Star Soul", Lily immediately leaned forward: "What is that?"

"I’ll explain it to you later."

Li Ang had just turned his head when he saw two people running from a corner of the cabin, with crew members chasing behind them.

"We can explain!"

The two dressed plainly were originally part of the captives.

Though liberated, to prevent chaos on the ship and facilitate management, the crew did not inform the captives they had been rescued, intending to explain once they reached the Guild’s base.

The uniformed crew members were originally responsible for managing these people.

"Sorry, Captain, their strength is too great, I couldn’t stop them." The crew member said.

"It’s not your fault." Li Ang said to him first.

Standing up from his chair, Li Ang faced the two women who had run over.

He remembered the one at the front, from the Sky Flame Shipyard in the City of the Ship’s Rudder, who originally protected the old captain as a Sub-grade Star Soul Annihilation Knight.

Before becoming a tool of the Empire, she should have been a young girl from Olin Island.

"I remember you, Rose Olin." Li Ang said to the tanned-skinned farm girl.

"You remember me?"

Rose looked somewhat timid; for a human girl, she was tall, almost taller than Li Ang. Now without the Annihilation Knight armor, her figure was proportionate, without excess muscle, veering towards the athletic girl style.

Previously, Li Ang had realized her combat power came from the Annihilator Flesh, allowing her to harness its power as a Sub-grade Star Soul, where her standout trait should be her willpower.

But being a Sub-grade Star Soul, perhaps owing to not deeply merging with the Annihilator Flesh, her power wasn’t particularly strong, as Meimei defeated her with a single face-off; being knocked down by Urbian was unsurprising.

"We were originally confined in the room, but I could hear the commotion outside, so I came out, hoping it didn’t cause you trouble." Rose said, bowing her head.

"No need to be so respectful to me anymore, you already know I am not of the Empire."

"No, we actually..."

Rose looked at the other woman beside her, who exuded a more scholarly aura compared to her; Li Ang didn’t have a deep impression of her.

"Hello, I was the secretary to the former director of the Sky Flame Shipyard, my name is Marin."

"It’s you."

Li Ang recalled her, compared to Rose, whose Sub-grade Star Soul status left a deeper impression; the fleeting encounter with the secretary made her less memorable.

Moreover, she had changed now, skin tanned much by the sun, possibly due to previous capture, her body had injuries, and the glasses she wore also bore cracks.

"I thought you were swept up in the fluctuations released by that Super Magical Beast, it’s good to have survived the scene back then."

"You already forgot, when I fell from the collapsed building, it was you who saved me with Wind Magic; otherwise, I would have died from the fall. And later, during the energy impact, you saved me too." Marin said.

"Is that so?" When she spoke, Li Ang also recalled, saving people on impulse was a usual thing during his Sky Knight career, so he hadn’t taken it to heart.

Beside them, Murein showed rare surprise: "The Sky Cavalry that saved many girls in the City of the Ship’s Rudder, turns out it was Mr. Li Ang’s team? I had considered this possibility before, but after that, the team didn’t make any more headlines."

"Yes."

Li Ang smiled lightly; what headline could there be when they went towards the Land of Ten Thousand Spirits afterward, even sinking Lupus Island in between.

He looked at Rose and Marin, for unknown reasons acting together: "You are no longer working for the Empire?"

Having been captured by Urbian’s side, they should have sided against the Empire.

"Yes, I didn’t expect innocents to be involved in the City of the Ship’s Rudder incident, and never imagined the Empire to be like that, the ideals we’ve followed all along..."

Despite her physique, Rose seemed more like a child who hadn’t matured; when mentioning the events, she appeared flustered and guilty.

Seeing her disordered speech, Marin shook her head, patting Rose’s shoulder: "Let me do the talking."

As a document worker, the secretary had honed her ability to summarize; she quickly narrated their experiences to Li Ang.

Back then, the Destruction Battleship fired its cannon, triggering huge disturbances that stunned Marin and Rose; as Li Ang’s team evacuated Sky Flame Shipyard, they fled together.

"Saying fleeing together isn’t accurate, it was still Rose who saved me; otherwise, my physical strength couldn’t have escaped the disaster range at the time."

Marin said, after which, Rose fell into confusion and self-blame.

"This child is inherently pure; before joining the battle, aside from being recruited at Olin Island, she was receiving fusion experimentation with some kind of thing in the Empire’s facility."

"Essence of the Stars." Rose said.

"Is that how they refer to ’Annihilator Flesh’?" Li Ang shook his head, Lily beside him letting out an irate nasal sound.

"As expected, we’re called Annihilation Knights, that kind of thing surely can’t have a good name." Rose’s mood sank even lower.

"After witnessing the destruction of the City of the Ship’s Rudder by the Empire, Rose also realized that there was a significant issue with the Empire, and I too decided that no matter how generous the remuneration, as long as touching that faction would be out of the question."
