Chapter 1078: Chapter 526: Entering Thousand Tower City (2)

The Martial Extreme Trial and the Day of Judgment are important, but not the most important; what truly matters is discovering the Imperial Center and resolving it once and for all.

No matter the entanglements behind it, or Ivynis being currently confined by the Eye of God...

The Maiden of Azure, who had appeared several times to assist him, had not been seen since that glance in the City of the Ship’s Rudder.

Despite the many mysteries surrounding her, Li Ang could feel her sincerity.

He hasn’t thought of her, but that doesn’t mean he forgot her. Especially when considering the young girls on his Eternal Summer ship, who, with his support, were slowly becoming qualified Sky Knights and beginning to feel carefree, he grew more worried for Ivynis.

However, for now, he needed to reunite with them, communicate and assess.

Li Ang adjusted his mindset and instructed the helmsman to prepare for port entry.

The crew on this ship were attendants of Elaphia; once they delivered the three, they would return to complete their journey.

The brilliance of Thousand Tower City was getting closer, gradually differentiating between the magical light from the peaks of mage towers, the arcane glow of Magic Crystals, and the magic array patterns of the city’s defensive shield.

As its name suggests, innumerable high towers stand within Thousand Tower City. You can discern the city’s historical construction process in them.

The city originally developed by gradually being built around ancient mage towers, with dwellings surrounding them. Now, many low dwellings have been demolished and replaced with residences enhancing living conditions using magic. As the number of casters in the city increased, more high towers rose until the city’s growth reached its limit.

Since then, under extraordinary magical constructions, all these towers floated in the air, their position, size, and height determined by the rank of their owners.

At the lowest tier, only a "High Tower Scholar" is entitled to own a magic tower, followed by casters in the Excellence Realm.

Of course, the towers of once-existent excellent casters would not be demolished but handed to heirs or students, or donated to organizations by will, or managed by the Council of the Hexamark.

Even though the number of excellent casters and recognized High Tower Scholars is sparse, the high towers have become numerous over time, forming the primary landscape of this city and leaving its current name after several renamings.

However, the most notable features of the city aren’t necessarily these towers. Though numerous, they lack the vastness in area and distinct architectural style of the three main academies, nor do they exhibit the transcendent appearance of the Grand Library from the outside.

Mistrem, the institute for the practical study of magic, with its sprawling palace-style buildings in white walls and blue roofs, exudes nobility.

Akenna, the sanctum for explorers of magical principles, features a complex ritual instrument atop its buildings, slowly rotating, embodying the secrets of knowledge.

Oktos, the gathering place for seekers of magical secrets, cloaked in either dim lights or lush greenery, covering diverse styles of houses, exudes mystery to the fullest.

Between the three academies is the Thousand Towers City Grand Library, with its aerial corridors flanked by arcane bookshelves. Even without perusing the books, looking up alone evokes awe for the vast sea of knowledge. Visualizing the accumulated volumes imparts an immediate respect for knowledge to everyone who comes to Thousand Tower City.

Apart from these four most eye-catching places, the various high towers surrounding present-day Thousand Tower City extend like a star ring away from the city’s core, encircling its periphery, with the sky port relocated and expanded to an arcane platform on the magic outer ring.

The helmsman left by Elaphia was very familiar with the route, smoothly steering the ship toward the sky port.

However, several Flying Airships blocked the way ahead.

"What’s going on?" Li Ang leaned out to take a look.

"I don’t know, Mr. Li Ang. Those ships seem to be blocked by some Law Enforcement Knights," the helmsman answered, observing ahead with a spyglass.

"Law Enforcement Knights?" Lily and Diao walked over and asked.

"They are the order enforcers of Thousand Tower City."

Li Ang explained briefly; the Law Enforcement Knights don’t match the external concept of "knight." Most of them are mages who can ride Flying Summoned Beasts.

Because their small boat was smaller, Li Ang instructed the helmsman to maneuver around the sides, weaving to the front of the fleet, approaching the Law Enforcement Knights.

"A secret technique ceremony is underway in the city; outsiders are prohibited from entering."

They had barely approached when the Law Enforcement Knights spoke.

"Oh dear, quite unfortunate," Lily lamented a little disappointed.

She stood on tiptoe, trying to peer through the obstructing fleet with those four or five mages riding Griffins, Falcons, and Dragon Eagles, to view the city’s scenery behind.

"You there, do you have a problem?"

A Law Enforcement Knight suddenly pulled the reins, and the Dragon Eagle beneath flapped its wings fiercely, swooping down and landing directly on the deck, gouging several shallow pits in the not-sturdy spare deck with its Sharp Claws.

Such roughness?

Li Ang frowned.

The attendants of Elaphia were about to utter some social niceties, but the Law Enforcement Knight just stared at Lily intently, "What are you looking at?"

"Me?" Lily pointed to herself in surprise, "I’m looking at the Thousand Tower City’s scenery, hoping to see someone I know."

She smiled again, "You’re from this city too; do you know Zoe?"

For the Dragon Witch, the big city in her impression was like a village, where everyone knew each other in the neighborhood.
