Fierce Horror Dorm: Take a Concubine to Get Stronger
Chapter 775: The Hidden Abilities of the Six Floor Leaders and the Acting Dorm Owner
The information above will be published in tomorrow’s Blood Mist Morning Paper, along with details about the residents of some Floor Leaders’ dormitories.
The Floor Leaders had all been consulted beforehand about the information being released. The main purpose was to make things easier for other players to understand and to strengthen the authority of the Floor Leaders’ dormitories.
In addition, each floor’s list of Cleaners would be published at the same time, along with an explicit rule forbidding anyone from harming them.
This Floor Leader selection had turned up quite a few major talents. Nearly every Floor Leader would be a godlike presence in a first-tier dormitory building!
In truth, even if Xu Lang hadn’t held this Floor Leader selection, the High-Level Players hiding in the dormitory buildings had already been preparing to reveal their prowess.
After all, the situation outside the Blood Mist was simply too dangerous.
Xu Lang wasn’t the only one with eyes and ears. As High-Level Players, they understood many game rules beyond the reach of ordinary players. For example, there was the unspoken rule that dormitory buildings would shift external pressure onto the players.
Six of them in particular had pleasantly surprised Xu Lang.
Hanged Man · Wang Lizheng: His dormitory was high-level, and with his own power system, he had actually managed to keep Level 12 Mental Corruption under control. The coffee from the Coffee Machine couldn’t even cleanse Level 12 Mental Corruption, yet he had stabilized his mental state... though not without some side effects.
Laughing Jar · Zhao Huanyan: She controlled her Mental Corruption mainly through her dormitory’s abilities. The News Department would later hold her and Wang Lizheng up as examples. These two were born to be Mad King Building players. They didn’t need to go to the House of Order, or only had to visit once in a while.
Daughter of the End · Murong Wan: Her dormitory could predict danger. She had already added the people from Demon King Castle as friends, so she could report important intelligence at any time.
Echo · Zhou Fuzhou: A rare talent among talents. He had played fifteen rounds in total, and placed in the top ten in every single one. His odds of becoming the Top Player had been one in three. He hadn’t needed to do much persuading. Once he showed his strength, the others had voted for him as Floor Leader of their own accord. His talent and intelligence were both exceptional.
Longevity · Old Man Fulu: His power system meshed perfectly with his dormitory’s abilities, which were exceptionally rare.
King’s Sword · Wang Kun: A player from Vast Sky Building, with the highest Level of Experience and the highest-level dormitory. He had come specifically for Mad King Building. Before arriving, he had even recruited two players who shared his ambitions, bringing both capital and people to buy into the venture!
In the past, Wang Kun had been able to raise his dormitory to Level 18 all by himself. But later, as Vast Sky Building’s hierarchy gradually took shape, with Floor Leaders above team leaders and team leaders above Dorm Owners, he slowly found himself unable to keep up with the times.
His potential was obvious, and the other two Vast Sky Building players he had brought along were strong as well.
And as for his judgment, Xu Lang was willing to call it the best!
After hearing him explain his reasoning, Cao Yaxuan blurted out:
“Young man, you came at just the right time. Mad King Building is where your rise to power begins!”
The others didn’t understand what she meant, but they were all deeply impressed.
Someone had actually come to join Mad King Building of his own accord!
Everyone knew that Mad King Building’s rule, “You may enter, but you may not leave,” was embedded in the game’s underlying logic. It practically locked you into Mad King Building, leaving you no way to escape your identity as a player!
Nearly all players shared the same dream:
To shed their player status and return to their original world.
Otherwise, sooner or later, they would die in the game.
Wang Kun’s explanation was completely unexpected.
“I’ve been a player for far, far too long.”
“Playing games is just part of my normal life. The Safe Zone and the Blood Mist World are the worlds I know.”
“Even if I went back to my original world and became a superhuman now, I’d still feel unsatisfied!”
“How could someone who transmigrated to a fantasy world possibly want to return to their original, magicless world?”
“The supernatural stands above everything!”
“And since I’ve already put down roots in the supernatural world, why shouldn’t I choose the faction with the greatest potential?”
His reasoning made perfect sense!
He was a true Veteran Player, a High-Level Player who faced danger head-on and accepted and embraced his identity.
You couldn’t buy that kind of mindset for a million Copper Coins.
Besides the pleasant surprises these four people had brought, there was one more small surprise.
One person had actually “given” Xu Lang a Jack of Clubs of his own accord.
After obtaining the Jack of Clubs, Xu Lang was delighted to discover that, as Acting Dorm Owner, he could use the function card as many times as he wanted. All it cost was a few Copper Coins.
That made him suspect the complete card might be some sort of important item belonging to Mad King Building.
Unfortunately, he had already used up the previous function cards, so he could only wait for another one to appear.
Xu Lang genuinely hadn’t known beforehand that this person had a card.
Demon King Castle had explicitly ordered everyone to hand in all cards, yet this person not only kept one, but even dared to come before Xu Lang and demand the position of Floor Leader!
That’s right, this person had been elected Floor Leader. He was also a prospective Floor Leader who was already dead.
The reason for his death was simple:
Hiding an important item was a Capital Crime!
His strength had been decent. For now, he was grazing in Grave Pasture.
This person was as brazen as Ghost Shadow, the Floor Leader of the eighteenth floor. One had hidden an important item, while the other had been an undercover agent sent by Shadow Prison Building.
But the latter was still useful, so Xu Lang hadn’t done anything to him.
It was easy to guess the other person’s intentions when he was heading to a dormitory building under such tight control and would also be taking on an important role.
With two such outliers setting a precedent, the other Floor Leaders were caught in the crossfire. Their information was checked over and over, down to the last detail.
After Mad King Building advanced, the confidentiality level of its players’ information became very high. Using the built-in player privileges to investigate someone would reveal nothing but their name and dormitory number.
But that couldn’t stop the Nightmare Eye.
When the Floor Leaders came over this time, Demon King Castle gave each of them a set of equipment and a Name Change Card, and also offered them one chance to transfer dormitories.
Almost everyone chose the dormitory at the very center of their own floor. Only a few made different choices.
It was worth noting that “new players” like Zheng Kai, who had played relatively few rounds, hadn’t originally had high-level dormitories. But after large numbers of Veteran Players moved in, they had used the substantial capital they’d accumulated earlier to forcibly buy up one or even several high-level dormitories.
As a result, all thirty Floor Leaders’ dormitories in Mad King Building were Unique rooms, making them extremely valuable.
