Fierce Horror Dorm: Take a Concubine to Get Stronger
Chapter 771: Everyone, Back to the Village! It’s Time to Elect a Village Chief!
【Twenty-First-Floor Chat Group】
【Gu Yan: If you have any thoughts, feel free to tell me, including anything I’ve done wrong.】
【Sultan: Big Brother Gu Yan was appointed General by Her Majesty the Queen. Of course we’ll support him!】
【Arman: That’s right, we all support Big Brother Gu Yan!】
【Zane: I support Gu Yan. He’s the finest Earth Rakshasa of my people!】
【Alaric: I support Gu Yan too. Even though he’s an Earth Rakshasa, he’s never played favorites!】
There wasn’t a single voice of opposition on the twenty-first floor.
……
The Floor Leaders of the twenty-first, twenty-third, and twenty-ninth floors were practically guaranteed to be elected.
Gu Yan, Li Shuwen, and Wu Huihui all had strong support.
It was hard to say how things would go for everyone else.
Old Floor Leaders like Zheng Kai, Zhai Ren, and Bai Wuya were all a little anxious.
New Floor Leaders like Li Xianzhou and Sheng Qi were even more nervous. They hadn’t been Floor Leaders for long, so they couldn’t exactly claim to have won everyone’s respect.
All the players sprang into action. The chat channels were nearly bursting at the seams.
Some players who usually went unnoticed had suddenly become hot commodities. In less than a minute, they’d receive a dozen new messages, all trying to win them over.
“Hahahaha, this feels great, Zhai Ren! You finally get to suck up to me for once!”
“Hehehe, Dorm Owner, Li Xianzhou messaged me. What do you say, should we get back at him and vote for someone else?”
“I think the newly prominent Dorm 66 is a good choice. Their dormitory is a unique room, and they’re strong enough to lead us to survival!”
“Our dormitory isn’t in a hurry to vote. We’ll vote for whoever offers the most benefits. Financial resources are part of strength, too!”
“This feels amazing! Death accountability means someone can finally keep those Floor Leader dormitories in check!”
The Mad King Building had thirty floors, more than ten of which had no official Floor Leader.
On top of that, the newly added floors one through ten were all made up of players who had only just moved in. Making a quick decision and electing Floor Leaders wasn’t going to be easy.
If they truly couldn’t accept any of the other players on their floor, the best choice was to abstain and wait for someone from the Neighborhood Committee to be assigned to the position.
That might not guarantee a great outcome, but at least the new Floor Leader would have powerful backing. They wouldn’t be too incompetent, and might even receive more support.
“This building is already completely under Demon King Castle’s control. We have to follow the rules.” In Dorm 10, “Fortune and Prosperity Residence,” the Dorm Owner, Old Man Fulu, wore a grave expression.
There were eleven players in the dormitory.
At that moment, they were all gathered in the living room.
Strangely, aside from Old Man Fulu, all the other tenants looked like children or teenagers. Not one of them was an older player.
“Master, do you want to run for Floor Leader?” asked a player who looked like a child and wore his hair in two braids.
“No!” Old Man Fulu shook his head. Deep furrows creased his aged face, and his white sideburns fluttered. “I’ve read past issues of the Blood Mist Morning Paper and even bought information on previous game events. The crisis this dormitory building will face is terrifying. We shouldn’t draw attention to ourselves!”
“Master, is there anyone you want to support?” another little girl asked, biting her lip.
“We’ll all abstain.” Old Man Fulu tapped his peachwood cane against the floor. “There aren’t many people on our floor, so there’s a good chance they’ll assign us a Floor Leader.”
If everyone was sensible, then with no one knowing each other well, abstaining would be the best choice.
But not everyone had the old man’s wisdom.
He had barely finished speaking when the doorbell rang.
Old Man Fulu’s expression darkened. He looked toward the water vat beside him, where the surface showed the scene outside the door.
A young man stood outside with an eager, beaming smile. He looked polite enough, but his restless air betrayed the urgency in his heart.
“Excuse me, is the Dorm Owner of Fortune and Prosperity Residence home?”
The young man called out loudly.
……
The players began making the rounds in force!
Private messages?
Those weren’t going to get the job done!
Anyone who’d ever worked in sales knew that a video call was more effective than texting, and meeting face-to-face worked best of all!
Serving as Floor Leader could temporarily lower or raise players’ SAN values. It also came with real administrative authority, recognition from Demon King Castle, and the grant of a Supply Point!
The benefits were practically unbelievable!
Any player with even the slightest chance of becoming Floor Leader was doing everything they could to campaign.
Exploration missions, Iron Blood duels, the Forbidden Land, nobody was going to any of them. Even the Supermarket was nearly deserted!
Everyone rushed back to the village at once.
It was time to elect a village chief!
……
Of the Mad King Building’s thirty floors, one was rather special.
The twentieth floor.
Everyone on the twentieth floor was a Neighborhood Committee member, and they too had to elect a Floor Leader.
Honestly, none of them particularly wanted the position. They already had official appointments and were part of Xu Lang’s direct team.
Xu Lang had also said that the twentieth-floor Floor Leader wouldn’t receive a Supply Point. Nor would their status increase after being elected, since the Neighborhood Committee was responsible for the entire Mad King Building, not just one floor.
That left them in a difficult position.
In the end, Su Yuan was the first player on the twentieth floor to be elected Floor Leader.
Su Yuan had the best reputation.
Zhou Ye and Wang Lie also got along well with the others, but neither was as responsible as Su Yuan.
Su Yuan seemed to have expected he would be elected and wasn’t surprised.
More than half the players on the twentieth floor had voted. Before six in the evening, Su Yuan was summoned to the Demon King Castle Conference Room.
When he actually saw the Office Token Mary brought out, he still felt conflicted. His mind drifted back to all the moments since he’d joined the Mad King Building.
He took the token and looked at Xu Lang, seated across from him. Then he asked a question that had nothing to do with his new position: “Lang Ge, do you think we still have a chance to return to Earth?”
“We do.” Xu Lang answered almost without hesitation.
Su Yuan hadn’t expected such a confident answer. His eyes immediately lit up.
Mary brought out eight more Office Tokens and said,
“Floor Leader Su Yuan, these are four Mad Guard Office Tokens and four Cleaner Office Tokens.”
“I’ve already sent you the recommended candidates in a Private Message.”
“You can choose other players for the positions yourself, or recruit the recommended players into your dormitory.”
“Both Cleaner and Mad Guard are very valuable positions. Protecting them is one of your duties as Floor Leader.”
Su Yuan hadn’t expected this as well. After checking the information on the two kinds of Office Tokens, he asked, “Will Demon King Castle protect them openly, or should we keep their identities hidden?”
Mary smiled. Su Yuan really was a clever man.
“Cleaners will be openly protected. Mad Guards won’t.”
“Miss Zhen Lu leads the Cleaners, and Miss Xu Ruyan leads the Mad Guards.”
In the end, Zhen Lu couldn’t resist the boredom and took up the Cleaner position. Her reason was much the same as Xu Ruyan’s.
After becoming a Cleaner, she could see the Mad Residual Filth that accumulated inside the Safe Zone. At that moment, she was outside the building, enthusiastically sweeping the ground.
