Fated To Three, And I Broke Them All
Chapter 484-Everyone Is Hungry For Her
Chapter 484: 484-Everyone Is Hungry For Her
Theodore:
My brother had been acting strangely ever since Jaguar found out that something had happened between Verity and Ragnar.
He had completely lost his mind.
I was furious too, but eventually, I came to a conclusion.
Verity was far too innocent, and I couldn’t bring myself to suspect her.
The fault had to lie with my brother. He must have manipulated her, taking advantage of her innocence.
Ragnar had probably made his move.
He had always treated her terribly and never held a particularly good opinion of her, so he must have assumed that if she was willing to sleep with us, she would do the same with him.
I was almost certain that was what had happened because Verity wasn’t that kind of girl.
And that was precisely what troubled me the most.
I couldn’t trust my brothers around Verity.
They kept taking advantage of her innocence, and she was so emotionally broken that she barely understood what was happening to her.
But how could I blame her?
After everything she had been through, it was only natural that she’d lost her confidence.
She seemed to believe that whatever anyone told her must be right, as though she could no longer trust her own judgment.
But I wasn’t going to let that continue.
I was going to protect her from my brothers and their creepy behavior.
"Ragnar is coming home," Jaguar responded as he hurried past me toward the bedroom.
"Grandma Lucille wants to go back home as well," I told him. "I think all this stress is becoming too much for her."
I raised an eyebrow as I watched Jaguar merely nod in response.
"What the hell is going on with you?" I demanded.
"What?" Jaguar stopped and turned to look at me.
"What’s with this behavior? Why are you acting as if nothing else matters to you?" I questioned.
Last night, Grandma Lucille had been crying uncontrollably as she tried to talk to us, explaining how overwhelming everything had become for her.
Ever since she’d arrived, she hadn’t been able to rest for a single day, so she’d decided to leave after Ragnar’s engagement ceremony.
While I’d gone out of my way to speak with her, listen to her concerns, and hear her out, Jaguar had completely disregarded every request she’d made.
He’d become so difficult to deal with lately that I couldn’t help wondering what the fuck was wrong with him.
"What behavior?" Jaguar finally turned toward me, his hands tucked into his pants pockets.
"Hmm? You want me to be happy? You want me to dance around and tell you how thrilled I am with the way my brother has been behaving around my mate?"
He was finally letting out what had been bothering him, but everything he was saying was utter nonsense.
My jaw tightened as I listened to him spew all that bullshit.
"I know one thing," Jaguar declared, pointing a finger at me. "From now on, I don’t want any of my brothers hovering around my mate."
His eyes widened, turning red with anger.
I slowly straightened my shirt before getting to my feet.
"Think twice about what you’re saying, Jaguar. She’s not just yours. She’s my mate too," I warned, pointing a finger at my chest.
Jaguar merely let out a chuckle.
"Very soon, I will. I’ll make sure to shatter that illusion of yours soon enough."
There was a strange threat in his hand.
I scratched the back of my ear before stepping closer to him, closing the distance between us.
"If you do anything that ends up taking her away from me, Jaguar, remember this. I won’t let you have her either."
With that, I stepped back, giving him a clear view of my face so he could see that I wasn’t kidding.
Then my gaze shifted past him, and I spotted Ragnar entering the house, his shoulders swaying slightly as he walked in with his usual casual demeanor.
Jaguar followed my gaze, and his body stiffened as well.
"Hey, look, there’s Ragnar," Jaguar remarked with a sarcastic smile. "How does it feel, brother? Coming home from a vacation? You think you can just walk in here as if everything’s been forgotten?"
Wow. Jaguar was really losing his mind.
I kept my composure.
I wasn’t about to lose Verity by doing something stupid.
As for Jaguar, he could make all the mistakes he wanted and lose her for all I cared.
So I remained silent.
"I didn’t realize you were waiting so eagerly for me," Ragnar replied.
His tone caught me off guard.
Instead of sounding guilty or apologetic, he seemed rather cocky, as though he wanted to prove to us that none of his decisions could ever be wrong.
"We heard about everything you and Verity have been doing behind our backs," Jaguar confronted him, his earlier sarcasm now gone.
Ragnar nodded and glanced around.
"I figured," he mumbled.
"Look, are you even going to say anything in your defense?"
Jaguar’s voice kept cracking, and I could understand why.
It certainly wasn’t easy for either of us to accept that the brother we’d loved and trusted so deeply was the very person who had betrayed us.
"You’ll thank me for it later."
That was all Ragnar offered before attempting to walk away, but Jaguar stepped into his path.
"Is that so?" Jaguar’s voice cracked again.
I looked away from my two brothers.
Just because I wasn’t complaining out loud didn’t mean I wasn’t hurting.
He had caused us so much pain, and the fact that it was Ragnar who had done this made it even harder to bear.
We’d grown up relying on him for practically everything.
Even though Mom had warned us to keep in the back of our minds that betrayal was in Ragnar’s nature, we’d completely disregarded her words.
After all, Ragnar had never given us a reason to doubt him.
But now, I couldn’t help feeling that we’d been complete fools.
He’d always kept his knowledge and everything he knew to himself, never letting us in on much.
He’d never pushed us to attend meetings either.
Maybe that had been his way of keeping us in the dark all along.
And when I thought about it, neither Jaguar nor I was nearly as sharp at our work as Ragnar was.
