Fated To Three, And I Broke Them All
Chapter 464-Oh I Found Their Alpha King In My Bed
Chapter 464: 464-Oh I Found Their Alpha King In My Bed
Verity:
Grandma Lucille was sitting on the couch with her head tipped back, tears streaming down her cheeks.
Jenna sat on one side of her and Mrs. Bundy on the other, gently rubbing her hands between hers, while Bruno stood behind the couch, massaging her temples.
"I’m telling you, he’s left us all! He’s run away, and he’s never coming back. That’s how stubborn he is!" Grandma Lucille sobbed.
That was when Bruno noticed me standing there.
He gently touched Grandma’s cheek to get her attention.
"Look, Grandma. Verity’s here."
She immediately sat upright, and as everyone turned toward me, ready to greet me, Bruno added something I wasn’t sure anyone else had caught.
"And I’m pretty sure Ragnar isn’t going anywhere. Not when it means leaving this one behind."
Bruno’s eyes met mine, and he gave me a smile before slipping back into that same worried, confused expression.
I believed he was genuinely worried. There was definitely something more to his intentions, and I could sense it.
There was something strange about this man, too.
He had suddenly reappeared after years of barely maintaining any connection with his cousins, and his timing was rather suspicious.
"Come, dear. Sit here," Grandma Lucille urged, gesturing for Mrs. Bundy to get up.
Mrs. Bundy immediately rose and helped me settle beside Grandma, who grabbed both my hands the moment I sat down.
"Call Ragnar. Tell him to come back. He’ll listen to you," she pleaded, making my eyes widen.
"Why would he listen to me?" I asked, glancing awkwardly around the room.
It seemed everyone had watched those videos.
"Because you make him laugh. You bring out the best in him. In fact, you get away with mistakes he would never tolerate from anyone else, and yet he never punishes you for them."
I had no idea Grandma Lucille thought so highly of my influence over Ragnar.
To be fair, even I hadn’t realized I had that kind of effect on him, so I couldn’t understand what made her so certain.
Before I could respond, Gigi walked in and interrupted.
"That’s not true," she declared, answering on my behalf. "He doesn’t even like her. He talks to me, and he complains about her all the time. Those videos are the very reason he’s disappeared."
She turned the entire situation against me without a second thought.
"So instead of assuming she can miraculously bring him back, perhaps we should focus on tracking his last movements. That would be far more productive."
I couldn’t help noticing how unwelcome her arrival seemed to be.
Everyone wore the same exhausted expression, as though merely seeing her was enough to drain whatever patience they had left.
"Why are you here?" Grandma Lucille demanded.
Well, Grandma certainly had no filter. She made no attempt to hide the fact that Gigi was the last person she wanted around.
"Well, my soon-to-be fiancé is missing. Of course I’ve come here."
The way she spoke to Grandma was downright rude.
"Anyway." Gigi straightened her posture, apparently deciding to take charge. "Bruno, did you ask the driver about his last movements?"
Bruno glanced at her and rolled his eyes.
I caught it, and apparently, so did Jenna, because she immediately looked at me as though silently asking whether I’d witnessed it too.
"The driver said they returned to the office, and Ragnar told him to wait there. But apparently, he must have slipped out through a back entrance or something because the driver kept waiting, only to realize Ragnar was gone," Bruno explained, his hands tucked into his trouser pockets as he deliberately avoided meeting Gigi’s eyes.
"Well, he’ll turn his phone on eventually. Meanwhile, I suggest we start checking all the checkpoints and pulling footage from the security cameras. We need to trace his last movements," she instructed, squaring her shoulders.
Then she turned her attention to me.
"And why don’t you go home, Verity?"
My jaw clenched.
"Actually, I’m only suggesting it because Theodore and Jaguar are coming home, and I doubt they’re particularly happy about the recent events. With their brother missing, things are looking even worse, you know?" she added with a careless shrug.
I would have stayed.
I would have fucking stayed, but no.
I needed to keep my composure for now, and frankly, I wasn’t eager to face those two brothers either.
"Grandma, I’ll come back again, okay? And I’ll keep trying to contact him. The moment he turns his phone on..."
I paused, shifting only my eyes toward Gigi to make sure she was watching.
And she was.
"I’ll tell him to come home. Hopefully, he’ll listen to me," I finished, leaning forward to kiss Grandma Lucille on the forehead before getting to my feet.
Gigi was practically seething with anger.
Lady Lucille gave me one last sorrowful look as I walked past Gigi, but I could sense something darker beneath it, a thirst for vengeance.
I left the mansion and called for a cab again. This time, I was finally heading home.
Once I settled into the back seat, I decided I wasn’t going to answer anyone’s calls.
I’d had enough for one day and just wanted to get home.
I still had no idea where Ragnar was or why he’d suddenly disappeared like that, but one thing was becoming painfully clear.
Somehow, everyone was pointing fingers at me.
When I arrived home, I paid the cab fare and stepped inside, slipping off my shoes before closing the door behind me.
I was just about to head to my room when I suddenly stopped in my tracks, noticing someone lying asleep in my bed, tucked beneath my comforter.
As I crept closer to the doorway, I couldn’t help but gasp at the sight before me.
Ragnar was sprawled across my bed, shirtless, with the blanket tangled around his lower body.
He lay on his stomach at a slight angle, one arm wrapped around a pillow tucked beneath him, taking up nearly the entire bed as though it were the most natural thing in the world for him to be sleeping there.
