Fated To Three, And I Broke Them All
Chapter 376-After 18 Days Of Hell
Gigi:
"Did you see her audacity?" my mother almost screamed, pointing toward Verity’s room.
I glanced behind her to make sure the Alpha King brothers weren’t around before grabbing her arm and pulling her into the room with me.
Once I slammed the door shut, I faced Rochelle.
"My mother said Verity was eavesdropping on our conversation."
I had to explain because Rochelle had only witnessed the part where my mother was about to hit her.
"She was. She was practically leaning against your door," my mother insisted.
I placed both hands on my waist and looked directly at Rochelle.
Judging by her expression, she understood just how much trouble this could cause for us.
"Is that why she was talking back to your mother so arrogantly?" Rochelle murmured.
My mother frowned, glancing between the two of us.
"What do you mean? Wait, what were you two talking about?" she demanded.
I raised a hand, gesturing for her to calm down.
"We were only talking about what Rocky did to me, in detail. I didn’t want that bitch hearing any of it because then she’d think it was karma."
I stopped there, not wanting to go any deeper into it.
I hadn’t said much apart from the Jenna thing, and I could only hope my mother had caught Verity the moment she arrived, before she’d heard anything about that.
My mother cleared her throat.
"We haven’t heard from Oliver, Gigi. We need to see him. You need to speak with Alpha King Ragnar. Tell him to at least let us visit Oliver. He needs to speak with our lawyer."
She was right.
It had been days, and the strangest part was that nobody seemed to have received any updates about Oliver either.
"I should go now, Gigi. I’ll speak with you later, okay? Please take care of yourself."
Rochelle, who until now had been distraught and possibly even suspicious of me, suddenly changed her demeanor.
Maybe she had realized that those eighteen days of torture could easily have happened to her instead.
I gave her a nod and watched her leave the room.
"You shouldn’t talk about Oliver in front of her. She’s in a very sensitive place because of her sister," I whispered to my mother, making sure to keep my voice extremely low this time.
"Fine, she’s gone. Now are you going to speak with Alpha King Ragnar?" my mother asked, rubbing my arm. "This is the right moment. He won’t turn you away now. After everything you’ve been through, he’ll want to comfort you."
I nodded slowly.
Maybe she was right.
Now was the time to play every card I had because, after all, I was already a victim they felt obligated to comfort.
"Fine. I think he’s in the attic right now. He’ll be back in a few minutes. He’s just checking for updates. Then we’ll go to his room together and speak with him," I told my mother as I slowly lowered myself onto the couch and rubbed my face with both hands.
"Why hasn’t Dad come to see me?" I asked.
Mom sat on the edge of the couch, anxiously rubbing her hands together.
"Your father is a little upset with your boyfriend. You know, when you were gone, your boyfriend wasn’t very helpful. He wouldn’t let us see Oliver. In fact, he defended..."
My mother started complaining, but I raised a hand to stop her.
I honestly wasn’t in the mood for it.
I had been through enough already. The last thing I wanted was to hear someone criticizing my boyfriend or complaining about him.
"Anyway," my mother continued after clearing her throat, "once your brother gets out, everything will go back to normal. I just can’t wait to hold my baby boy. The poor thing has been under so much stress."
Her voice trembled.
I agreed with her. I didn’t want my brother suffering because of those stupid bitches.
More importantly, whatever he’d done to Jenna had been because of me. He had only been helping me get what I wanted.
But Verity...
I’d chosen the wrong person to mess with.
After about ten minutes of Mom and me talking about random things, we decided to go speak with Ragnar. He was back in his bedroom now.
"Come in," Ragnar called.
I entered his bedroom with my mother trailing behind me.
She had already asked why Ragnar hadn’t let me stay in his room. She had expected him to take care of me personally.
Honestly, I’d wondered the same thing.
But Ragnar hadn’t done it last time either, so I understood why he hadn’t this time. He valued his privacy. If I knew him well, he wouldn’t let anyone invade his personal space for too long.
Sometimes, he simply wanted to be alone, untouched and left without conversation.
"My mother wanted to speak with you," I told him, gesturing toward her.
Then I dramatically lowered myself onto the edge of the bed, curling in on myself and dropping my gaze, hoping he’d see me for what I was: lost in thought.
"Yes? Is everything okay?" Ragnar asked my mother.
There was a strange look of confusion on his face, as though his mind was still occupied with something else.
Files were scattered across his table, and the moment we entered, he quickly gathered them together and turned them facedown.
"Gigi’s father and I were thinking it’s time we see Oliver," my mother explained.
Ragnar stared at her before glancing at me.
Then he went quiet for far too long.
The silence unsettled me.
"Ragnar?" I prompted.
He blinked and shook his head, as though snapping out of a daze.
"Hm? What?" he asked.
My mother exchanged a bewildered look with me before repeating herself.
"We were thinking we should see Oliver."
She exhaled deeply and waited for his response.
"Oh. That’s not possible," Ragnar replied coldly.
"Why not? It’s been days. Shouldn’t he have a lawyer?" my mother questioned, her voice noticeably softer now.
"That’s not it," Ragnar answered.
His gaze shifted to me again.
"He slipped into a coma."
"A coma?" my mother gasped.
"Yeah, so no, he can’t see anyone."
The words left his mouth with chilling indifference.
There wasn’t a trace of guilt or empathy in his expression, not even for the people standing in front of him, including the victim who had endured eighteen days of hell.
