Fated love: the unwanted bride

Chapter 2733: Four Years Have Passed in the Blink of an Eye

  • Next Chapter

The next day, the clouds were thin and the sky a brilliant blue.

The heavy dark clouds of the past few days had all dispersed, leaving only a faint white mist drifting in midair.

Weather like this was perfect for flying; even the air tasted sweet and cloying.

In the blink of an eye, it had been more than four years since she came to Cakago.

She still remembered the scene of arriving here alone with her suitcase from Landon. Back then she truly was leaving home behind, knowing no one, enduring pain and loneliness all by herself.

At that time, she had completely fallen out with Sylvan Cheney. He used the cruelest words to tell her what had happened more than twenty years ago and tore her photos to shreds.

She asked him, "Do you really regret it... raising the granddaughter of your enemy all these years..."

He didn’t answer her.

After that, he never gave her an answer, never once showed her the slightest bit of what was in his heart.

She could never see through him; from beginning to end, she never truly figured him out.

He would never say much to her. Even when she wanted to know, wanted to hear, he still wouldn’t speak.

She could only guess at what he was thinking, but guesses are often wrong. What’s more, she was someone with an extreme lack of security; answers she arrived at on her own always felt unreal, too fragile to believe in.

Jasmine Yale looked at the familiar airport.

So, in the blink of an eye, four years had already passed.

Time really did fly.

Compared with her teenage years, she had probably already grown used to the days without him by her side.

Back then she was young, and she had been abandoned once, so she relied heavily on him. At that time, he was the only person she could depend on, and the only one she was willing to depend on.

So every time he said he didn’t want her anymore, she would panic, even though later she came to understand that he would never truly cast her aside.

Now she’d long grown used to being on her own and had the ability to support herself. It didn’t matter much that he wasn’t around.

He had chosen to be with Erin Janus, and she had chosen to fly far away.

They had each chosen the path that suited them best.

These past few years, the thing she was most grateful to him for was giving her Little Clementine, the soft, cuddly little one in her arms.

It was Little Clementine’s first time at an airport. She had never seen so many people before, and she had never seen a big gray plane.

She blinked her big eyes, staring ceaselessly at the crowd.

Butler Santana walked Jasmine Yale to the security checkpoint. "Miss Yale, no matter how much we say, we still have to part. I really want to keep you both, but there’s nothing I can do."

"Butler Santana, thank you for taking care of us. Don’t worry, I’ll take very good care of Little Clementine too."

"Don’t forget yourself."

"Mm!" Jasmine Yale nodded. "You should head back. I can manage on my own."

"You always say you can manage on your own. It’s true, there are many things one person can do, but it really is exhausting. Miss Yale, remember to find someone who can share your burdens, not someone who adds to them. Believe me, life for two is better."

"I believe that."

"In the future, you’ll have a happy family of your own too. Forget everything that’s past and start over. That’ll be good."

"The past... I’m already slowly forgetting it. It’s really nothing much. Things will get better from now on."

"Then, Miss Yale, your phone number... after you arrive in Conada, will you call me?"

Jasmine Yale gave a small smile. "We’ll see about that later."

Butler Santana understood and didn’t ask again. She would listen to whatever Jasmine Yale said.

She also believed that Jasmine Yale could find happiness for herself and Little Clementine. Her temperament was good, her temper was gentle, everything about her was good. She was, by nature, someone who could bring others happiness.
