Her bright eyes sparkled with a clear autumnal light, clear and beautiful, utterly captivating.

Though she hadn’t said a word or opened her mouth, just looking at him like that was enough to unsettle Sylvan Cheney.

He sighed inwardly, this woman was nothing short of trouble.

Jasmine Yale’s face was rosy, without a touch of makeup, and her jet-black hair cascaded down, spread over the pillow and her shoulders, highlighting her skin, making it even more fair, pristine, like a seventeen or eighteen-year-old girl, with lips shining with a dewy gloss, like a peach after the rain, uniquely fragrant and beautiful.

She stared at him for a long time before finally looking away.

She didn’t move, merely remained silent.

"I bought porridge, get up and eat." He stood in place, speaking indifferently, yet there was a hint of command in his tone.

"Not eating." She closed her eyes, her arm still resting on her forehead.

Her emotions had calmed considerably, her heart returning to a steady state, calmly beating within her chest, undisturbed.

The room was filled with sunshine, it was an incredibly fine day, blue skies and white clouds, everything was so beautiful.

"Do you want me to feed you?"

"Go away."

"I’ll leave, there’s no need to rush me away."

Sylvan Cheney opened the insulated container, took out the jujube lily porridge, and lightly stirred it with a spoon.

Very soon, the aroma of porridge filled the room, overshadowing the faint smell of medicine.

He placed the bowl of porridge on the table, leaned down, preparing to help her up: "Go wash up, okay?"

"I’m not going." Jasmine Yale pushed him away in irritation.

"Don’t act like a child, if you don’t get up, do you plan to stay in the hospital room forever? The doctor will discharge you."

"You’re so annoying, just leave." Jasmine Yale was too weak, not wanting to argue with him.

Yet, Sylvan Cheney was a persistent person.

He simply sat on the edge of the bed and supported her arm: "Alright, get up. The sun is shining so beautifully today, it’s a waste to sleep in. Get up, eat breakfast, then go downstairs for a walk. The outside world is wonderful."

Perhaps one of Sylvan Cheney’s words touched a nerve, she bit her lip, her eyelashes trembled, and the warmth in her eyes gradually diminished.

Sylvan Cheney helped her sit up, turned around, and went to the bathroom to get a towel, using warm water to wipe her face.

The spacious hospital gown looked loose on her, her slender frame couldn’t fill it out, and she didn’t resist, letting him do as he wished.

Sylvan Cheney wiped her face very carefully, his deep gaze fixed on her face with utmost seriousness.

Bright light fell on her face, a scene he remembered replaying countless times in his dreams.

In the dream, a thirteen or fourteen-year-old girl stood gracefully in her prime youth, at a mischievous, impassioned, rebellious age.

It might have been one day when she fell outside, covered in mud, even her face, looking dirty.

He saw her, didn’t say anything, went to the bathroom to get a towel, and wiped her face.

The girl in the dream hadn’t grown tall yet, was still short, not as pretty as she is now, but she looked so much like her...

Dreams and reality intertwined, shadows interweaving, his hand paused, letting the towel linger on her cheek for a long time.

Jasmine Yale didn’t move, only watched him.

Sylvan Cheney realized he was lost in thought, pulled his hand away: "Alright."

Returning the towel to the bathroom, he then picked up the bowl of porridge again.
