Fated love: the unwanted bride

Chapter 2629: I’ll Drag You Out Into the Hallway to Sleep

"You’re not afraid I might be colluding with CEO Caddel to trick you?" Jasmine Yale tried to steady him. "You know your eldest son isn’t that simple."

"He can fool me, but you can’t. You know how long it takes me to see through a person? Three minutes. Your eyes, your tone, your expression all tell me you don’t know anything. You’re very simple—so simple you’re exactly like her."

"You really are an Old Fox."

Behind Navy Caddel’s lenses was a pair of shrewd, razor‑sharp eyes. Hearing Jasmine Yale’s comment, he gave a mocking laugh. "In the business world, how many people aren’t foxes? Don’t tell me you actually think my eldest son is honest and kind to everyone? He’s rotten with scheming down to the bone. However long you’ve been with him is how long you’ve been fooled by him."

Navy Caddel’s Kong Hong accent was unhurried, his face wearing a mocking smile, as if he were sneering at Jasmine Yale’s ignorance and naivety.

"You’re talking nonsense! CEO Caddel isn’t that kind of person! You’d even slander your own son?" Jasmine Yale refused to believe it, could not believe it no matter what.

"Then just take it as nonsense. To transfer a total rookie in the workplace into his own office as his secretary—you really think he only valued your talent and ability? What talent do you have that he would single out? In this world, the one thing that’s never in short supply is talented people."

Jasmine Yale’s mind went blank for a moment.

In that instant it was like she suddenly knew nothing at all, an icy chill streaming through her limbs and bones, freezing cold.

Several times, she wanted to tell Navy Caddel to shut up.

But he seemed to really enjoy the look on her face; the corners of his lips even curved up slightly.

Under the suggestive lighting, he stared at Jasmine Yale, just stared. In a daze, he muttered to himself, "How can you look this much like her... You might even be prettier than she was... Heaven must’ve seen me begging in vain all these years, and sent you to me. It’s been more than twenty years. These past twenty‑odd years, I’ve been searching for women who resemble you. My wife, my lovers all look almost exactly like you. So many years have passed, tell me, why can’t I forget you... I’m poisoned by you, Yana..."

The last name made Jasmine Yale jolt, her whole body trembling.

Yana...

Her mother...

Jasmine Yale’s eyes were full of shock and disbelief, but she didn’t cry out, didn’t speak.

Her mother had been dead for years; she didn’t want Navy Caddel disturbing her again.

While Navy Caddel was lost in his memories, Jasmine Yale lifted her leg and kicked him hard, shoved him with both hands, and while his guard was down, she bolted for the door!

As she ran, she shouted "Help!" at the top of her lungs in the private room!

The room was big, and she kept running for the door! She didn’t care that her high heel had twisted her ankle!

Navy Caddel snapped back to himself, stood up, and lunged toward the door after her.

Just as she grabbed and twisted the doorknob, Navy Caddel caught up and grabbed her from behind.

"No... help..." The door was already cracked open, and Jasmine Yale tried to wedge it further open with her foot, but Navy Caddel had her pinned from behind; she couldn’t move at all!

Navy Caddel tried to drag her back in and shut the door, while Jasmine Yale braced herself with all her strength, refusing to give in.

"Help! Help me! Help!" she shouted.

"Don’t waste your strength. No one’s going to dare come. This place is pretty much half my turf. Even if I dragged you out into the hallway and slept with you there, no one would dare say a word against it." Navy Caddel held her from behind and yanked her back toward the private room.

His arm clamped tight around Jasmine Yale’s waist. Jasmine refused to yield, fighting back with everything she had.
