Damien saw the cracks appearing across the tortoise shell, his face immediately lit up with joy.

He turned around excitedly and was about to say to Sora, "The gods say that we will soon—"

He stopped halfway through his sentence.

The room was empty.

Sora was nowhere to be seen.

Damien blinked before shaking his head helplessly.

She really did run fast.

However, the sight of the auspicious cracks on the tortoise shell was enough to keep the smile on his face. Her sudden departure did not affect his mood in the slightest.

If anything, he was even happier.

The Heavenly God had given him an auspicious sign.

That meant the answer was favorable.

That meant they would soon—

Damien’s smile widened.

He carefully picked up a wooden stick and used it to pull the tortoise shell from the charcoal fire. He stared at the cracks on its surface, his eyes filled with satisfaction.

Since the gods had already given their decree, it meant that what he had been waiting for would happen soon.

Meanwhile, Sora, having finally obtained the address she needed, returned to the Wooden Hut.

She was exhausted and decided to rest for a while.

After waking up, she went straight to the Plaza to look for Clare.

There was something she needed to ask her.

Sora had never sent a letter before, and she wanted to know how people in the Beast World communicated over long distances.

The Beast World was vast, and every Tribe seemed to have its own methods of communication. There was no unified system connecting all the tribes.

For example, Lucas and the other avian species preferred using birds to deliver messages.

Damien had previously mentioned that some groups used bats.

But Sora still didn’t know what the wolf tribe used.

Since she had never sent a letter before, the only person she could ask was Clare.

When Clare heard that Sora wanted to send a letter, she immediately became enthusiastic.

"Our wolf tribe mostly uses marmots to deliver letters," she explained. "You give the letter to the marmot and pay it one crystal stone first. After the other side sends a letter back, you simply give it another crystal stone."

"Crystal stones?"

Sora froze.

This was the first time she had heard about crystal stones being used in the Beast World.

From Clare’s explanation, they sounded almost like a form of circulating currency.

But Sora rarely saw anyone in the Tribe using them.

Even when Mark went to the City-State to exchange prey for salt, he had used prey rather than crystal stones.

Curiosity immediately took over.

"Where do these crystal stones come from?"

Clare looked at her strangely.

"Don’t tell me, Sora, that you don’t even have a single crystal stone right now?"

Sora shook her head.

"I’ve never seen them."

Clare stared at her in disbelief.

"How can that be? Your several Beast Husbands are so powerful. Yet they haven’t given you any crystal stones?"

Sora immediately caught the meaning behind her words.

"You mean your crystal stones were given to you by your Beast Husband?"

"Yes."

Clare nodded naturally.

"I don’t have beast energy, so naturally, the only reason I have crystal stones is because they give them to me."

She paused before explaining further.

"And the higher a person’s Beast Rank, the more crystal stones they can obtain."

"So when you said you didn’t have any, I thought it was very strange."

Sora remained silent.

If Clare hadn’t mentioned it today, she genuinely wouldn’t have known that crystal stones even existed.

Lucas and the others had never given her any.

Not even one.

Sora stood there for a moment, lost in thought.

It wasn’t that she was particularly upset.

Rather, she was already thinking about how she would ask them for some later.

After all, they had eaten her cooking so many times.

They had eaten her bread, fish, rice, and countless other things.

Yet these men had apparently been hiding the existence of crystal stones from her and hadn’t given her even a single one.

Were they deliberately keeping her ignorant?

Before she could think too deeply about it, Clare noticed her silence and assumed she had said something wrong.

She hurriedly changed the subject.

"So, Kaelira, have you finished writing the letter?"

Sora snapped back to reality.

"I don’t understand the bear tribe’s language either, so I just drew some things on leaves."

Clare nodded.

"I write to my girlfriends the same way."

She sighed.

"But crystal stones are too precious. I only contact them during festivals. I can’t bear to waste them normally."

Sora barely listened.

Her mind was elsewhere.

The Beast World had crystal stones.

If crystal stones existed here, did that mean she could cultivate as well?

The thought suddenly flashed through her mind.

Sora’s eyes narrowed slightly.

Before she could explore the thought further, however, something else caught her attention.

Lyra was happily walking around the Plaza, swaying proudly in a brand-new Beast-hide Skirt.

Several Females noticed the skirt immediately.

One of them praised her.

"Madam, did you make a new Beast-hide Skirt? The style is really beautiful."

"Isn’t it?" Lyra replied proudly. "I love it too."

The Female looked at the skirt again.

"Did Kaelira make it?"

Sora was clever and was always coming up with new things. Whenever someone saw something beautiful or unusual in the Tribe, they naturally assumed it had something to do with her.

But Lyra immediately gave a light snort.

"How could her hands be that skilled? This was made by Red Frost."

The Female who had spoken felt slightly embarrassed.

She paused before looking at Red Frost and then at Mark.

"Red Frost is quite skilled too. Mark, you found yourself a good Female."

Red Frost immediately lowered her head shyly.

"I can only make some Beast-hide Skirts. I’m not as good as Sister Kaelira in other things."

Lyra’s expression became indifferent.

"You are much more filial than her. She only knows some unorthodox tricks."

"Mother."

Mark frowned.

"Besides not knowing how to make a Beast-hide Skirt, Kaelira is quite good at many other things."

Although Mark had not liked Sora in the past, the plague toxin incident had caused him to see his sister differently.

He had never expected her to be so capable.

If Sora hadn’t saved Father in time, Father might have lost his life.

It was just that Sora’s attitude toward Mother was still unacceptable to him.

He felt that he needed to have a word with her.

As Mark looked around, his eyes suddenly landed on Sora.

She was standing not far away.

She had clearly seen Mother, yet she hadn’t come over to greet her.

Mark’s expression immediately darkened.

He walked toward her.

"How disrespectful!" he snapped. "You see Mother and don’t even come over to say a word."

Sora couldn’t be bothered with him.

She simply turned around and prepared to leave.

Mark reached out to grab her.

But before he could, Red Frost caught his arm.

She smiled gently.

"Talk things over calmly. Kaelira is your sister, and she’s carrying a little cub. Don’t just grab her like that."

Mark’s hand slowly dropped.

He looked toward Sora.

"Did you hear what I said?"

"I heard you," Sora replied flatly.

"Since you heard me, go and say a few words to Mother."

"I don’t want to."

Mark’s expression darkened.

"Kaelira, is that any way to speak to Mother?"

Sora finally turned to look at him.

Her expression was cold.

"And there’s no brother like you either."

Lyra had criticized her right to her face.

Why should she willingly go over and speak with her?

She wasn’t crazy.

"Kaelira, you—"

Mark became furious again and reached out.

But Red Frost stopped him once more.

She turned toward Sora.

"Sister Kaelira is right. Your attitude as an older brother is indeed poor. How can you speak to her like that?"

Then Red Frost added fairly,

"Although Madam praised me just now, I have to admit that Kaelira is much more capable than I am. It’s only natural that Kaelira would feel unhappy and not want to go over after hearing her Mother speak about her like that."

Mark was annoyed.

"Regardless, she is our Mother. What’s wrong with being scolded a little by her?"

Sora rolled her eyes.

She didn’t even bother responding.

Red Frost suddenly burst into a giggle.

"You’re just all talk."

Mark froze.

Red Frost continued teasingly,

"On the day I arrived at the Tribe, didn’t you also argue with the Chieftain’s Wife and become angry with Madam? Why didn’t you say then that you shouldn’t get angry with her?"

Mark’s mouth opened.

He was momentarily speechless.

"That was different."

Red Frost shook her head.

"It’s no different."

Mark stared at her.

For a moment, he didn’t know what to say.

Red Frost had managed to point out his double standard with only a few words.

Seeing that Mark had finally calmed down, Red Frost grabbed his arm and pulled him away.

After taking several steps, she turned around.

She winked at Sora.

Then she continued pulling both Lan Ya and Mark away from the Plaza.

Sora watched the three of them leave.

Beside her, Colorful Sunset couldn’t help commenting,

"Red Frost is really something. With just a few words, she exposed Mark’s double standards and actually made him listen to every word she said."

She looked at Sora with a smile.

"Kaelira, now that you have this Younger Brother’s Wife, your family’s relationship should ease up quite a bit."

Ease up?

Sora silently scoffed.

That was impossible.

There was no way her relationship with Lyra was going to suddenly improve.

In her opinion, things were already fine as they were.

Lyra didn’t come looking for trouble with her, and Sora didn’t have to deal with Lyra.

That was peaceful enough.

She didn’t need anything more.

However, there was another matter that bothered Sora.

Red Frost.

Red Frost might not necessarily be a good person either.

So far, she hadn’t done anything obviously wrong.

In fact, she had behaved politely, helped smooth over conflicts, and even defended Sora.

But something about her still felt strange.

Her intuition told her that Red Frost seemed to be trying a little too hard to please her.

And that made Sora cautious.

In her experience, people who proactively approached her and tried too hard to win her favor usually had their own intentions.

Yesterday, she might have thought Red Frost was simply a normal, kind Female.

Today, however, she wasn’t so sure anymore.

Sora quietly watched the direction Red Frost had disappeared in.

Her expression gradually became thoughtful.

There was something peculiar about this Female.

And Sora had learned long ago not to ignore that feeling.
