Farming Family's Pocket Dimension: A Charmed Little Lady Comes to Farm

Chapter 253: A Joyous Occasion Lifts the Spirits

Aunt Liu gave a mysterious smile. "You just wait and see. Little Fei is destined for great things. After all these years, you think I can’t tell?"

The two exchanged a look, a secret joy in both their eyes.

’When one person strikes it rich, their whole family benefits. If we just ride Little Fei’s coattails, what’s there to worry about in the future?’

The village chief didn’t know what the two women were whispering about, but he sighed to himself. ’Gu the Second’s family has really struck some unbelievable luck.’

’My wife was right. Now that she’s gotten in with the Young Master Heir, she’s really going to make it big.’

The village chief tried to recall where Gu Zhang’s ancestral tomb was located. ’Wait a minute,’ he thought, ’that plot is backed by mountains and faces water. Isn’t that a prime spot for feng shui!’

’And come to think of it, my own father is buried right next to it. Shouldn’t the feng shui be the same for him?!’

The village chief couldn’t make sense of it. He sighed and went back to weaving his bamboo basket.

······

Gu Fei had no idea that in the eyes of her fellow villagers, she was about to make it big.

She opened the shop early, but there were no customers. Gu Fei was dozing off behind the counter when, before long, Young Master Zhou walked in carrying a little girl.

The little girl was fair and adorable, dressed in a small, pink brocade jacket. Her hair was tied up in two little buns, making her look just like a doll from a New Year’s painting.

Seeing such a pretty little girl, Gu Fei instantly perked up. "This must be Yu, right? Come let Auntie give you a hug."

Yu wasn’t shy with strangers. As soon as Young Master Zhou set her down, she held her arms out to Gu Fei.

Gu Fei wasted no time fishing out a piece of candy and popping it in the girl’s mouth. "Oh my, aren’t you just the prettiest little thing, Yu."

After they’d had their fun for a moment, Gu Fei turned to Young Master Zhou. "Brother Zhou, I was wondering if you know any jade merchants. I’d like to buy some jade—nothing carved, just raw stone is fine. It doesn’t have to be high-quality; mid- to low-grade would be perfect."

Young Master Zhou thought for a moment. "I actually do know someone, but he went west to procure new stock before the year’s end."

"When he gets back, I’ll take you to see him."

Just as they were speaking, Old Huang emerged from the back courtyard.

Gu Fei glanced over. Old Huang was glowing with good cheer, looking particularly well-put-together today.

He’d changed into a silk robe, and his hair was combed perfectly. He’d even shaved off his messy beard, which made him look a good ten years younger.

Gu Fei teased, "Well now, Mr. Huang! All dressed up like this, I almost feel bad calling you that. I’m afraid I’ll make you sound old."

Old Huang beamed. "If you’re willing to call me Brother Huang, I’d be happy to answer to it."

Young Master Zhou burst out laughing. "Pfft! Take a look at the wrinkles on your own face. You want to be my contemporary? Dream on!"

Old Huang just chuckled, his eyes lighting up as he looked at Yu. It was clear he was very fond of her.

Yu knew him well and called out in her bright, clear voice, "Grandpa Huang."

Old Huang teased her for a moment, then asked with a smile, "Yu, I heard quite a commotion from your house last night. What were your mom and dad up to? Were they quarreling?"

Last night, Sister Dan and Young Master Zhou had another fight, presumably over some little vixen, and the neighbors couldn’t help but overhear a bit of it.

Yu blinked. With her mouth full of candy, she mumbled, "They weren’t quarreling. My mom and dad were singing at home."

"HAHAHA—" Her answer made everyone burst out laughing. Gu Fei couldn’t resist giving her a kiss. "How did you get so clever?"

"I have a little sister named Little Cao. When she comes to visit someday, I’ll have her come play with you."

As they were all talking and laughing, the girl from yesterday emerged from the back doorway.
