Farming After the End of the World
Chapter 384: Special Protective Clothing
Chapter 384: Chapter 384: Special Protective Clothing
Yang Jin was thrilled that they were on the same wavelength, as if they shared a single mind. "This unit price already takes into account the conditions you mentioned. Otherwise, it would be even higher."
’I can’t believe I’m thinking just like the Iron Rooster.’ Xiaqing suddenly felt she had the potential to be an Iron Rooster herself. Full of confidence, she proactively brought up the subject of his commission. "For this deal, what percentage do you want to take?"
The Iron Rooster, who hadn’t even been thinking about a commission, was caught off guard by her question and could only reply, "According to the trading rules, I can take at least ten percent."
"Ten percent it is." ’Only ten percent. The Iron Rooster is being quite restrained,’ she thought. Xiaqing nodded. "I owe you 1,460,000 points for supplies. After subtracting the 368,400 points you owe me for the spinach seedlings, that’s 1,091,600 points. You can deduct these points and your commission directly from the payment for the spinach seeds."
"Alright." Yang Jin stood up and discussed the matter with Xiaqing. "For the second-generation spinach seeds we’re using to cultivate the Cordyceps Fungus, how many points per seed should we value them at?"
Xiaqing immediately knew what he was getting at. "Two hundred points per seed?"
"That works." Yang Jin smiled as he negotiated with Xiaqing. "Can I trade you for 2,250 second-generation seeds at the price of 200 points per seed? If I use these to cultivate the Cordyceps Fungus, I can sell the first-generation seeds I have on hand."
’Just as I thought.’ Xiaqing calmly nodded. "When the cultivation room is repaired and you need the seeds and spring water, just send someone over to get them."
Yang Jin smiled. "The points you owe me are now down to 641,600."
Xiaqing was speechless.
After more than two hours of intense negotiations that left her with a dry mouth, she still ended up owing him points...
’Damn it. I’m numb to it.’
"Oh, right!" Yang Jin said to Xiaqing, who was picking up the large bag of spinach seedlings, ready to see him out. "Do you remember the protective suit I was wearing when I came to get the Yi Stone Protection Shell before the third Harmful Rain?"
"Was that a Level 4 outdoor protective suit?" Xiaqing had coveted that suit for a long time. She had tried to trade for one with Tang Huai last time, but unfortunately, he was out of stock.
Yang Jin explained, "It’s not Level 4. It’s a special protective suit made with new materials, specifically designed for exploring the damp and rainy Evolution Forests. Its performance in every aspect is a notch higher than even a Level 5 outdoor protective suit. The face mask has a built-in oxygenation system, so you can stay underwater for three hours without any problem."
North of Mountain No. 60 was a large, damp Evolution Forest, a perfect habitat for Poisonous Insects. Xiaqing’s interest was even more piqued. "How many points for one of these suits made with new materials?"
"The new material is in limited supply, so right now, it’s only provided to the military’s special forces. I traded rare resources with the Base Commander for mine. If you want one, I can add it as a condition when I go see the Base Commander. Brother Luo has recovered now and needs a suit like this too. However, if we trade for the special protective suit, the price of the seeds will have to come down a bit."
"I want one." Compared to points, Xiaqing much preferred a special protective suit that could enhance her combat strength and chances of survival. "Captain Yang, besides this type adapted for damp and rainy environments, are there other types?"
Yang Jin explained, "The special protective suits issued by each base are related to their respective environments. Gui City and Hui City Base only have this type. Bai City Base has one for extremely cold environments. Lan City Base has two types, for extreme cold and extreme heat. Red City Base has suits for high-radiation and high-pressure environments. These suits are all considered special combat materials and must be exchanged for rare resources."
Xiaqing understood. Then she asked in a low voice, "Are there any for dogs?"
Yang Jin was speechless.
"I’ll ask around."
"Thank you."
With the deal settled, Xiaqing saw Yang Jin out the North Gate and handed the bag of spinach seedlings to Hu Zifeng.
Holding two heavy bags, Yang Jin promised Xiaqing, "I’ll get the supplies you’re trading for as soon as possible and have someone deliver them."
After following his boss back to Zone Three of Mountain 49 while carrying the goods, Hu Zifeng shifted the heavy bags and spoke up for Xiaqing. "Boss, farming really isn’t easy. When you’re trading with Xiaqing, don’t drive the price down too hard."
’Which eye of yours saw me, and which ear heard me, haggling?’ Yang Jin put on a stern face. "You don’t want to buy that helicopter anymore?"
"I do!"
"Then shut up."
"Yes, sir!"
...
’A helicopter? Heh.’
Xiaqing returned to the terraced spinach fields and carefully searched them all over again—up and down, left and right. Sure enough, she found over twenty more spinach seeds and happily went home for lunch.
She had been up at dawn to fence the pigsty, then she dug up medicinal herbs, harvested spinach seeds, and negotiated with Yang Jin. After being busy all this time, Xiaqing was starving.
Coming down the hillside, Xiaqing saw the Sheep Leader standing by the reservoir, staring at something.
She drew closer, squinting to peer down into the shimmering water. She finally noticed it was teeming with tiny plankton—algae, rotifers, water fleas, and the like. This was all high-quality natural food for fish.
The lightning had cleared out all the fish in the reservoir, so the plankton had started to multiply unchecked. Xiaqing drew a bucket of water and called to her companion, "Leader, let’s take it home and have a look."
The Sheep Leader had no objections and ambled after Xiaqing toward home.
BEEP.
Xiaqing heard her phone’s notification, took it out, and saw that the Sick Wolf had entered the territory through the North Gate. It must have noticed that Yang Jin had left and was only now returning.
Xiaqing chuckled and said to the Sheep Leader, "Second must have gotten hungry watching the wild boars. He’s back to eat."
BEEP.
Xiaqing heard the sound again. She checked her phone and saw that the Broken Waist Wolf had also arrived.
Before she could say anything, her phone beeped again. The Broken Waist Wolf had left. And then, the Broken Waist Wolf arrived again.
Seeing as it was a major customer, Xiaqing decided not to hold it against the wolf.
After returning home, Xiaqing spread the newly harvested spinach seeds on her balcony to dry. After a moment’s thought, she decided to call her idol.
Promoting the spinach seeds was a big deal, and she had to tell her idol about it beforehand. If the negotiations between Yang Jin and the Base Commander went smoothly, the spinach seeds would be widely cultivated by next April or May. It wouldn’t be right for her idol to hear about this from someone else. Xiaqing was afraid he might get petty about it and blacklist her.
For Xiaqing, the loss could very well be her life.
A few million points was certainly tempting, but life was priceless, and her idol was even more so.
When the call connected, Xiaqing asked first, "Brother San, is it a convenient time for you to talk?"
Zhang San was walking down a long corridor. Only after he closed a door did a single, listless word come through: "Speak."
After briefly explaining the plan to promote the spinach seeds, Xiaqing asked, "Captain Yang says the seeds are quite valuable. How many do you have? Want to sell them together with mine?"
’How about it? Your number one fan can help you earn some points, my idol.’
Although Zhang San’s voice sounded lazy, Xiaqing could tell he was in a good mood. "I’m not selling mine. I don’t need points. Do you have any Green Light food that I haven’t tried yet?"
’Umm...’
...
...
’My idol doesn’t need money, he needs fine cuisine. What’s a fan to do?’
