Farm System, Baby, and a Fortune: My '70s Divorce
Chapter 97: I Am the Real Deng Yuyuan
Chapter 97: Chapter 97: I Am the Real Deng Yuyuan
"Cutting your losses in time is a good thing. Women already have it hard in this world, so it’s even more important to know when to let go," the grandmother comforted her. Thinking of her own youngest daughter who was constantly chasing after men, she felt a surge of emotion.
Deng Yuyuan faced everyone’s shocked and suspicious gazes and gave them an answer: "A terrible ex-husband just has a habit of coming back to haunt you."
The Wei family grandparents stared in utter bewilderment.
The Wei Family Parents and the nanny were absolutely stunned.
After dinner, it was time to say goodbye. Wei Shu couldn’t bear to part with Tuantuan. When the adults heard that Tuantuan would be locked at home alone for the entire afternoon, they all urged Deng Yuyuan to leave the child here and pick her up after she finished her errands.
"Leave Tuantuan here," the system’s voice chimed in. "I’ve thoroughly checked this time. You were able to reunite with the Wei Family so coincidentally because Fubao prayed at home for your trip to go smoothly.
"Player, the female lead’s plot armor is absolutely trustworthy."
Wei’s mother saw through Deng Yuyuan’s hesitation at a glance. If it were her, she wouldn’t feel at ease leaving her two-year-old daughter in the home of people she had just met today, either.
But listening to Tuantuan’s description of their new home—the road back was dark and narrow, the house was small, and they had to go outside to use the restroom and wash their hands—leaving the child all alone in the house for the whole afternoon didn’t seem like a good choice, no matter how you looked at it.
Choosing the lesser of two evils, their home had a huge competitive advantage.
"Look at how well these two children play together. Little Shu really takes care of his younger sister. It’s his first time acting like a big brother, but he already knows to yield to his little sister in everything," Wei’s mother coaxed from the side. Deng Yuyuan poked her arm and pointed in the direction of the two children.
Wei Shu was incredibly busy right now. He had a bulging backpack on his back and was stuffing toys and snacks into his other small backpack. Next to him were two fully packed paper bags and a small bamboo basket holding two apples and two pears.
Tuantuan was holding a cardboard box full of building blocks. Sensing her mother’s gaze, she looked back at her with equal confusion.
Where was Tuantuan? What was Tuantuan doing?
Obviously, the little boy Wei Shu had already made full preparations to go play at Deng Yuyuan’s house.
"Alright." Deng Yuyuan agreed to Wei’s mother’s suggestion. She couldn’t wait to see the look on Wei Shu’s face when he realized all his efforts were for nothing.
Equally obviously, Wei’s mother was also ready to watch a good show at her son’s expense. The two women exchanged a knowing smile.
Deng Yuyuan walked over and asked Tuantuan, "Are you willing to play at Wei Shu’s house this afternoon? Mom will come pick you up in the evening."
Tuantuan nodded hastily. That would be perfect! This way, Wei Shu wouldn’t have to carry a massive pile of things.
Wei Shu’s head snapped up, his expression blank.
"How could such a thing happen in this world?" he muttered in disbelief.
This was unfair!
No way, he was going to Tuantuan’s house today!
Wei Shu turned to look for his little ally, only to see that Tuantuan had already plopped down on her bottom. She immediately started building with her blocks on the spot, even taking a moment to wave goodbye to her mother.
The floors in the Wei family home were covered with a layer of soft mats, perfect for letting toddlers sit down anywhere and anytime without getting bumped or bruised.
To prevent Tuantuan’s pants from getting dirty, the nanny quickly brought out a cloth mat and placed it under Tuantuan’s bottom.
Tuantuan had already built a simple little stool out of the building blocks. She clapped her hands in satisfaction, climbed up from the floor, lined herself up, and tried to sit on the little stool she had just built.
Wei Shu’s pupils quaked. That little stool was only as big as Tuantuan’s two hands! He used every ounce of his strength to grab onto Tuantuan and stop her from sitting down.
The little boy, now taking care of a toddler himself, was a bit exasperated. "Don’t sit! You won’t fit!"
The toddler in question still looked bewildered. She let out a slow "Oh," turned around to face Wei Shu, hugged him, and gave him a very natural kiss on the cheek.
Yes, hugs and kisses!
The Wei Family witnessed the entire process of little Wei Shu overheating and turning bright red.
Because little Wei Shu was extremely thin-skinned and cared deeply about his pride, everyone was in agony trying to hold back their laughter.

Deng Yuyuan jogged toward Jing City University. A red banner hung above the school gate, reading, "Warmly Welcoming the First Batch of College Students of the New Era." The ink on the banner seemed to carry the fervor of the times.
Deng Yuyuan stopped in her tracks and took a deep breath. The crowd was bustling but orderly. Everyone appreciates beauty, and Deng Yuyuan was undoubtedly eye-catching among the crowd.
She turned down several waves of people trying to strike up a conversation, followed the flow of people into the school, and let the signs guide her. In the corridor of an academic building, along a long counter made of pushed-together desks, she finally found the registration point for the Radio Technology major.
The counselor for the Radio Technology major was a gentle and refined middle-aged man wearing glasses. Beside his hand lay a piece of paper filled with names. He waited for the students to line up one by one and submit their admission letters and household registration certificates before checking off their names.
Sharp-eyed, Deng Yuyuan spotted her own name on that piece of paper. Moreover, there was already a checkmark next to her name.
She really had passed the exam.
Deng Yuyuan joined the line. When it was her turn, she took out her letter of introduction, her household registration certificate, and the commendation she received for her heroic act, handing them all over.
"Classmate, you don’t need this many supporting documents," the counselor said. "Just the admission letter and the household registration transfer certificate, or your household register."
"My name is Deng Yuyuan."
The counselor nodded, then belatedly looked up at her—a beautiful, unfamiliar young woman.
As she was one of the few female comrades in the department, he remembered it very clearly: hadn’t Deng Yuyuan already registered yesterday?
"These are the materials that can prove I am the real Deng Yuyuan. I did not receive an admission letter, but I checked my answers against the exam key. So, I still came to Beijing to find an answer.
"Fortunately, the result did not disappoint me."
The counselor’s expression turned serious. If this female educated youth in front of him was telling the truth, this matter absolutely had to be reported and strictly investigated.
He began to verify the documents and asked questions about some of the materials.
"As far as I know, Deng Yuyuan was sent down to the countryside in Dazhang Village. You, on the other hand, look very much like a city girl," the counselor said.
His statement was a complete understatement. Even city girls weren’t as well-maintained as Deng Yuyuan. Although she had some thin calluses on her hands, one could still tell she usually lived a pampered life. The dignified and self-possessed air between her brows was very difficult to cultivate while doing hard labor in the countryside.
The flaw was so glaring that the counselor didn’t dare directly conclude that the woman in front of him was an imposter. Even if someone really wanted to steal another’s identity, they wouldn’t be this brazen about it, right?
Deng Yuyuan said, "I have naturally fair skin."
Oh, naturally beautiful. The counselor nodded in understanding.
"Could you please lift your hands?" Deng Yuyuan asked softly.
Not understanding her intent, the counselor lifted both hands.
Deng Yuyuan extended two fingers and placed them under the desk. Her face showed no sign of exertion whatsoever, yet the desk was lifted steadily off the ground.
"I have naturally immense strength, so doing farm work is very easy for me," she explained.
The counselor had moved this desk here himself early in the morning, so he knew exactly how heavy it was.
