Farm System, Baby, and a Fortune: My '70s Divorce
Chapter 84: Tuantuan Is So Happy
Chapter 84: Chapter 84: Tuantuan Is So Happy
"Player, be careful not to make him mad. We can’t beat him right now, and you can’t exactly whip out two bottles of potion and down them in broad daylight."
Deng Yuyuan thought more thoroughly than the AI customer service. "Don’t worry. I didn’t use as much force as before. He’ll think I held back and wouldn’t dare completely burn bridges."
Moreover, since they couldn’t beat her, they wouldn’t dare touch Tuantuan. After all, unlike them, who had too much at stake to act rashly, she only had Tuantuan. If Tuantuan got hurt, she would truly go insane.
That was exactly the case. When Bu Jun saw that his daughter, despite her reluctance, had obediently used the word "please" and repeated herself, he cast a meaningful glance over Deng Yuyuan and the Deng family standing nearby. He didn’t say a word.
Deng Yuyuan walked outside the door and called Tuantuan’s name. The door opened in response, revealing a chubby little toddler with a flushed face and sparkling eyes.
Tuantuan stepped forward and hugged her mother’s calf, her sweet, milky voice pitching up in excitement. "Mommy, I couldn’t hear very clearly inside, but I know you were so amazing! Mommy just protected Tuantuan!"
In her excitement, Tuantuan used both hands and feet to climb onto Deng Yuyuan’s thigh. "Mommy, I love you, I love you so much! I’m so happy to be your little baby!"
Her little baby’s sweet words instantly melted Deng Yuyuan’s heart. She gently detached Tuantuan and placed her back on the ground, asking for her opinion. "Little Guo’er’s clothes are wet. Can Tuantuan give her two pieces of your old clothes?"
"Okay." Tuantuan nodded and looked at Little Guo’er.
Bu Guo stared blankly at Tuantuan and whispered, "...Thank you."
Deng Yuyuan brought the two children back to the study. Meanwhile, the Deng family’s mindset had undergone a drastic shift. They began to weigh whether or not they should play matchmaker for Deng Yuyuan and Bu Jun. If their daughter successfully married a second time but didn’t side with the Deng family and refused to funnel resources to them, then their efforts would just be shooting themselves in the foot for someone else’s benefit.
As a man himself, Mr. Deng naturally noticed the eager desire for a challenge in Bu Jun’s eyes when looking at Deng Yuyuan. If he had initially just wanted to find a virtuous wife and good mother to take care of his daughter, Deng Yuyuan had now become a woman he wanted to conquer.
Interest was the spark that ignited a man’s love.
Mr. Deng had been confident in keeping the past Deng Yuyuan firmly in the palm of his hand, but the current Deng Yuyuan was someone he couldn’t quite read. Could going to the countryside really change a person so much? Unfortunately, he hadn’t cared about this second daughter’s life in the countryside before, so he couldn’t determine why Deng Yuyuan’s temperament had changed so drastically.
The study door opened, and Deng Yuyuan walked out with the two children, signaling for Bu Guo to follow her father back home.
"Too much has happened in the Deng family today, so I’m afraid we can’t host guests anymore. Goodbye." A faint smile surfaced on Deng Yuyuan’s lips.
She had originally planned to just grab a few things from the Deng family and leave, but since they dared to mistreat Tuantuan, she was absolutely going to stay and tear them a new one. Aside from Bu Jun, she could easily beat everyone else here, even if they ganged up on her. If she could just get Bu Jun to leave first, things would be much easier to handle.
"Bye-bye." Tuantuan was her mother’s most qualified little sidekick. As soon as her mother finished speaking, she knew to wave her hand.
Bu Guo looked at Tuantuan with reluctance. "Tuantuan, when are you coming to my house to play?"
Tuantuan scratched her head. "Tuantuan doesn’t want to go to your house to play."
"Why? Aren’t we good friends?" Bu Guo grew a little anxious and stomped her foot.
Tuantuan was also a bit confused. Her gaze grew unfocused as she clearly tried to recall something. "When did that happen? Why didn’t Tuantuan know? You bullied Tuantuan, so Tuantuan can’t be friends with you."
Bu Guo started throwing a tantrum and stomping in place. "You clearly forgave me!"
"Yeah, Tuantuan only forgave you. I never said I wanted to be friends with you." The little girl looked even more bewildered, scratching her cheek with a small hand.
Everyone was shocked by this unexpected twist. Bu Guo, the person in question, widened her eyes even further.
"Miao Wa, Tuantuan actually figured out how to remove the fuel from the bottom of the pot on her own."
"Hehe, who said Tuantuan was silly? Even when this kid acts silly, she’s smarter than people who aren’t."
This logic directly fried Bu Guo’s brain cells. She shut her eyes tightly, and two streams of tears rolled down her cheeks. "You even helped me get dressed just now, and now you’re saying we aren’t friends!"
Bu Jun picked Bu Guo up. "Ms. Deng, perhaps you can consider marrying me. The two children can slowly get used to each other; they seem to hit it off quite well. You’ve probably heard about my family’s background. I won’t let you suffer when it comes to living conditions."
Seeing that Deng Yuyuan remained unmoved, he added more bargaining chips. "You don’t need to worry about Tuantuan being wronged. I’ve witnessed your capabilities, and I won’t interfere when you discipline Little Guo’er."
The Deng family’s gazes shifted to her face, not wanting to miss Deng Yuyuan’s reaction. Would Deng Yuyuan agree?
He was an officer with a promising future, considerable savings, and a good personality. Even if his personality wasn’t good, Deng Yuyuan could easily overpower him. Besides having a wide network of connections, he had remained unmarried for seven years after losing his wife despite having a daughter, which showed his noble character.
"And then what? I marry into the Bu family to be a nanny, and Tuantuan becomes your daughter’s little nanny?" Deng Yuyuan’s voice darkened. "Our children don’t actually hit it off either. My daughter doesn’t seem to want a deep friendship with yours. You should leave first." She made a gesture to see them out.
"I’m not leaving! I want Tuantuan to be my little sister!" Bu Guo yelled in her father’s arms. Bu Jun tried to soothe her, but it was completely useless.
If they couldn’t be friends, being sisters was fine too! Driven by this stubborn thought, Bu Guo threw an even bigger tantrum.
"Little Guo’er, be quiet." Deng Yuyuan’s calm words successfully made her freeze. "Don’t make Tuantuan and me hate you more, okay?"
Bu Guo’s emotional defenses completely crumbled. Feeling wronged, she buried her face into her father’s chest. Miraculously, she didn’t throw another fit and merely mumbled that she wanted to go home.
The four-wheeled vehicle slowly drove out of the yard. Deng Yuyuan closed the door and picked up the woven basket resting on the ground, slinging it onto her back. This harmless facade of hers easily reawakened the image of the punching bag the Deng family was so used to pushing around and scolding.
Mr. Deng spoke up in a sarcastic tone. "You’ve really changed a lot after a trip to the countryside."
"Maybe she learned those shrewish methods from the village women. Ungrateful and shameless." After Deng Hua Yu finished speaking, he quietly took a few steps back.
Deng Hualing wordlessly distanced herself from her younger brother, stepping over to stand next to Mrs. Deng.
"Is it only now that I’ve changed? Did I change, or did you just realize I’m no longer easy to control and decide to find an excuse for yourselves?" Deng Yuyuan took a few steps forward. Seeing her relatives subconsciously retreat, she couldn’t help but let out a mocking chuckle. "When we first met at the orphanage, I had a lively personality. I didn’t talk much, but I definitely wasn’t withdrawn, and I loved to smile. After I came to the Deng family, my courage shrank more and more, but you didn’t see it. I was depressed and sorrowful, but you didn’t see it. And as I gradually became cowardly and insecure, you turned a completely blind eye."
