Farm System, Baby, and a Fortune: My '70s Divorce
Chapter 124: Tuantuan Teaches Shi Tou a Lesson
Chapter 124: Chapter 124: Tuantuan Teaches Shi Tou a Lesson
She wondered if, in such a realistic world, even without her, things would still dutifully and methodically follow their original trajectory.
"Of course not," the AI customer service chimed in. "If it could run exactly according to the original novel, you would have been struck by lightning the moment you transmigrated and changed the plot."
Great. The AI customer service still loved talking about getting struck by lightning.
Deng Yuyuan walked a few steps and looked up. A familiar stranger was waiting for her at the corner.
She thought, "One meeting right after another. Nobody made a wasted trip."
"I should have hired a secretary," she reflected. "From now on, anyone who wants to see me must make an appointment with them first."
A bodyguard from the Meng Family walked up to her, bowed slightly, and handed her a paper bag. "Our Mr. Meng would like to have a chat with you. The contents of this bag are compensation to thank you for taking the time to meet him."
Deng Yuyuan took the paper bag. Its heavy weight clearly indicated the hefty value inside, and the smile on her lips instantly became a bit more genuine. "I would be more than happy to."
Not having seen him for a few years, Mr. Meng’s hair had grown much whiter. He was seated in a wheelchair pushed by an attendant, with no one else accompanying him.
"Xiao Yin came to see the doctor, and I wanted to get some fresh air, so it’s just the two of us," Mr. Meng said, seeing through her confusion. "He is currently getting his wounds redressed.
"Ms. Deng, I asked someone to invite you here this time because I hope you will reconsider the proposal from years ago. If you are willing to marry Xiao Yin, his assets will be split equally with you, and you can take them with you in the event of a divorce. We will put this into a prenuptial agreement. Of course, you can rest assured that all of Xiao Yin’s wealth is enough for you to squander for ten lifetimes."
Mr. Meng offered very generous terms. His expression was earnest and sincere. At this moment, he was merely an old father worried about his son’s happiness for the rest of his life.
"I apologize." Deng Yuyuan shook the paper bag. "I have this, and that’s enough."
"Ms. Deng, I know you are worrying about a second marriage. I swear, I will absolutely treat your daughter as my own and care for her like a biological granddaughter in every aspect. Even if you have other children later, I will not treat her any differently. As for my son, although he has some minor psychological issues, he truly loves you. He is handsome and highly capable at work."
Deng Yuyuan sighed. "Actually, I am not worrying about a second marriage at all. It is precisely for your son’s own good that I advise you to stop trying to play matchmaker for us. I will not be having a second child."
Mr. Meng’s expression turned solemn. "Is it because giving birth left you with an underlying medical condition? The Meng Family can pay to help you nurse your body back to health."
"No, I am perfectly healthy. I simply don’t want to give birth. A body can be nursed, but a person’s will cannot be altered. I will only ever have one daughter, and I will raise her with all my heart. Even if something were to happen to her, I would rather die alone than have another child. I imagine you wouldn’t want your son’s family line to end with him, would you?"
Mr. Meng hesitated. He asked tentatively, "Can this matter of you not wanting to have children be resolved with money?"
Deng Yuyuan shook her head.
"If I were penniless, I would naturally be willing to accept your olive branch. If I were powerless, I would also agree to marry Meng Deyin. And if I lacked any skills, I would think that marrying a rich man was a blessing. However, I am none of those things. I am capable, I have enough money to live a stable life, and I can dictate my own future.
"I have no need to depend on a man, and Meng Deyin obviously goes completely against my wishes."
Mr. Meng pondered for a moment, gently tapping his knuckles against the armrest twice. The sound was muffled, yet it felt as if it were knocking directly on one’s heart. He knew there was nothing wrong with what Deng Yuyuan said, and that his youngest son had an overly extreme and radical personality. But as a father, he could not agree with her words. "A man’s possessiveness over a woman is a testament to his deep affection and her charm."
Deng Yuyuan did not outright deny Mr. Meng’s claim. "Which is exactly why I suggested you stop trying to set us up. Incompatible personalities are far more fatal than love at first sight. Persuading him to fall for someone else is much better than the two of us tearing each other apart."
"You certainly have integrity." Mr. Meng glanced at her and added one last thing. "I asked an acquaintance at the hospital to take good care of your neighbor, so you don’t need to worry. My concern for her has nothing to do with my son; I simply want to do some good deeds alongside the Meng Family’s benefactor."
"Thank you." Deng Yuyuan bowed, turned to leave, and brushed past Meng Deyin on her way out.
She yelled in her mind, "Damn legs, move faster!"
"Meng Deyin just eavesdropped on the entire conversation," the AI remarked. "Player, do you dare to look up at his face? It looks incredibly dark."
"You rebellious son, get over here right now!" Mr. Meng’s booming reprimand rang out from behind her.
Deng Yuyuan bolted.
She reasoned, "With Mr. Meng keeping him in check, it should be fine for a while."
Mr. Meng saw things clearly. Deng Yuyuan’s attitude was resolute yet gentle. If they maintained the status quo, she might still show his youngest son a bit of friendliness. If they truly forced a match and clashed head-on with her, it would absolutely aggravate his son’s condition.
Deng Yuyuan first went to check out the nearby restaurants, paying the owners to deliver three meals a day to the hospital. The private ward had its own en-suite bathroom, so she didn’t have to worry about Wu Ying not being able to take care of herself. An eighteen-year-old naturally had a different level of self-care ability.
"Player, can you just grab a meat bun for lunch and go?" the AI nagged. "Be a mother, will you? Hurry up and go see Tuantuan, you deadbeat."
For once, Deng Yuyuan didn’t argue with it and ran toward the Wei Family’s home.

Meanwhile, the Wei Family’s home was in a state of utter chaos.
Tuantuan had woken up just as the sky was beginning to lighten. She obediently climbed out of bed by herself to wash up, but her movements woke Wei Shu, who was sleeping next to her. Wei Shu was not nearly as considerate as Tuantuan, immediately shaking Wei’s mother awake to help.
To comfort the low-spirited Tuantuan and fulfill her own dream of having a daughter, Wei’s mother dressed her in a lovely long-sleeved dress paired with snug-fitting Dacron shorts underneath. She topped it off with a small yellow vest, making the outfit perfectly suited for the early spring temperatures.
Tuantuan’s eyes were still a bit swollen, so she wasn’t quite used to seeing things and walking around. She sat on the threshold, holding her breakfast as she ate.
The accident happened after breakfast. While playing with Wei Shu, Tuantuan tumbled into the small rockery. By the time Wei Shu walked over, the little toddler was bent over with her palms on the ground, using her head to bump against Shi Tou on the ground.
The little boy couldn’t understand what his playmate was doing. "Tuantuan, doesn’t your head hurt? Stop hitting it!"
"It hurts!" Tuantuan answered him in a huff. "Shi Tou is bad! It bit Tuantuan’s knee, so Tuantuan is teaching it a lesson! Tuantuan’s head is the hardest, so Tuantuan is using her head to show it who’s boss!"
Following his little playmate’s words, Wei Shu bent down and tilted his head to look at her knee. His little face instantly turned stark white. Half of Tuantuan’s knee was covered in blood, with loose dirt sticking to the wound.
