Chapter 1541: Return to the Qin Dynasty Capital

Want to kill you!

Qin Wudao’s eyes narrowed, without the slightest trace of worry.

“The Dao Book really is a tempting thing!”

The Azure Cloud Sect Master’s tone shifted as he walked to the center of the ancestral shrine, speaking softly.

Qin Wudao followed him in and looked around. The shrine was quite empty, with only a refined-looking statue standing there, and beside it lay a scroll book suffused with profound power.

The Dao Book!

Having seen many Dao Books, Qin Wudao knew this was the Three-Knowings Volume Dao Book!

“It’s yours.”

The Azure Cloud Sect Master first bowed to the statue, then picked up the Dao Book and handed it to Qin Wudao, saying gruffly, “Treat Little Seven better from now on!”

“Don’t worry.”

Qin Wudao looked at the Dao Book and did not refuse.

After putting it into his personal space, he thought for a moment, then took out several scrolls with a smile and said, “These are the Dao Book copies and annotations from the Quasi-Saint Volume up to the Path-Sculpting Volume. They should be useful to you.”

The Azure Cloud Sect Master froze for a moment, subconsciously took them, flipped through a few pages, and felt a shock in his heart.

These were genuine Dao Books.

And they had annotations marked out, making them far more convenient to read.

Even someone with shallow cultivation would gain something after reading the annotated version of the Dao Book.

What shocked the Azure Cloud Sect Master even more was that Qin Wudao was actually willing to share something so important with him, and asked for no price at all.

Thinking of how he’d wanted to seize the Dao Book by force several times before, the Azure Cloud Sect Master couldn’t help but feel a pang of shame.

“I’ll accept these Dao Books then.”

The Azure Cloud Sect Master placed the several Dao Book copies beside the statue, then turned to look at Qin Wudao and said, “There are still about seven hundred years left before a great catastrophe descends upon the Endless Universe!”

A catastrophe!

Qin Wudao listened carefully.

“Roughly a hundred billion years ago, a group of powerful beings came to the Endless Universe, intending to occupy it so their race could multiply.”

“That race is called the Tribulation Clan.”

“The Tribulation Clan!”

“A clan born in answer to catastrophe!”

“They control a terrifying kind of calamity called the Cosmic Catastrophe. It can annihilate a universe through all kinds of natural and man-made disasters, yet it doesn’t damage that universe’s Origin Power.”

The Azure Cloud Sect Master’s voice grew solemn, a trace of worry and fear flickering deep in his eyes.

Back in that war, he had yet to become a top powerhouse of the Endless Universe.

So he did not take part.

But his master and countless elders he knew all threw themselves into that great war, and almost every day, ill tidings would arrive.

In the end, not one returned alive.

“What happened afterward?”

Qin Wudao asked, a bit curious.

Now that he knew their ultimate enemy was the Time Clan, he felt very calm and composed toward any other enemy he might face next.

“Near the end of the war, the Master of the Dao Book made a move and stopped the Tribulation Clan.”

“But after the war, the Master of the Dao Book disappeared…”

The Azure Cloud Sect Master continued.

Disappeared?

Qin Wudao’s expression grew slightly grave.

The Master of the Dao Book was the very first Martial Artist in the Order Realm of the Endless Universe. Could the Tribulation Clan have powerhouses above the Order Realm?

“Do your best to grow stronger.”

“The time left to us isn’t much.”

“Once we defeat the Tribulation Clan, I’ll marry Little Seven to you. You’ll be getting a bargain, kid!”

The Azure Cloud Sect Master said.

In his heart, he silently added a line: if we can defeat the Tribulation Clan…

An hour later.

Qin Wudao walked out of the ancestral shrine alone. As for the Azure Cloud Sect Master, he stayed inside to study the earlier volumes of the Dao Book.

Walking along the bluestone mountain path, he looked around.

The mountain was very high.

The white clouds were soft and distant.

He clearly hadn’t stayed here for that long, yet it held so many beautiful memories.

“Damn this sand. Next time I come, I’m definitely going to plant trees and turn this into a forest!”

Qin Wudao’s curses echoed among the white clouds, carried off by the wind, drifting into the distance.

He didn’t go to look for Little Seven.

The pain of parting was something you only needed to experience once.

After arriving at the outer gate of the Azure Cloud Sect, Qin Wudao joined up with the civil and military officials, and silently left the Azure Cloud Sect, not taking away even a wisp of cloud.

On the main peak.

Little Seven stood alone, eyes reddening, a imperial command token clutched in her hand.

“Little Taoist, I hope the next time we meet, it won’t be a life-and-death farewell, but in spring, in that season when all the flowers are in full bloom…”

“Oh right, you still owe me calling me ‘Senior Sister’ once!”

“You have to make up for that next time!”

“You must…”

…

After leaving the Azure Cloud Sect.

Qin Wudao and his group set off on the road back to the Qin Dynasty.

It took them only three days to leave the high-level universe cluster, return to the mid-level universe cluster, then a few more hours to ride a dimensional wormhole back to the Great Thousand World of the Nine Provinces Heaven.

Looking at this familiar world, a faint smile appeared on Qin Wudao’s face.

At this moment.

Inside the imperial palace, in the Phoenix Ritual Palace.

Jade Snow Gentleman was wearing a loose long dress, lying on a rocking chair. Her lower abdomen was slightly rounded. She held a scroll in her hands and was reading with relish.

The content of the book was quite interesting.

But after reading for a long time, it still made one feel a bit bored.

“I wonder when His Majesty will come back.”

“And whether the State Preceptor and the others have found His Majesty.”

She didn’t know how much time had passed, but Jade Snow Gentleman began to feel a bit restless. She put the book down and stood up, preparing to go to the imperial garden for some air.

But just then, she heard a burst of noise from outside.

“What’s going on?”

“Why is it so noisy outside?”

Jade Snow Gentleman frowned slightly. Ever since she became pregnant, she’d taken a liking to peace and quiet.

“Your Majesty the Empress, I’ll go take a look.”

A palace maid bowed and immediately ran out to investigate.

Not long after.

She ran back in, face full of joy, and said with a smile, “Your Majesty, His Majesty the Emperor has returned!”

“His Majesty has returned?”

Hearing that, Jade Snow Gentleman’s expression lit up. She hurried out of the Phoenix Ritual Palace and had barely left the main hall when she saw Qin Wudao walking over with a broad smile.

Qin Wudao stepped forward and, seeing Jade Snow Gentleman’s slightly rounded belly, paused for a moment, then asked in a somewhat excited and incredulous tone, “Is this… are you pregnant?”

Jade Snow Gentleman gently stroked her belly and nodded with a smile.

“Haha!”

At that, Qin Wudao was overjoyed.

In both his past life and this one, this was his first time becoming a father.

In his previous life it was fine; he hadn’t left behind any lasting legacy.

But in this life, he had founded the Qin Dynasty Destiny Dynasty, carved out a vast realm, and in the future he might even unify the Endless Universe and even greater universes. He needed an heir.

Even though, with his current cultivation, he was undying and unextinguished.

Being an emperor for too long was tiring!

Have a son to be emperor.

Then he could take Jade Snow Gentleman traveling mountains and rivers.

“Is it a boy or a girl?”

Qin Wudao put his arm around Jade Snow Gentleman and asked.

“I don’t know yet.”

Jade Snow Gentleman smiled and asked softly, “Does Your Majesty want a boy or a girl?”

“I like both.”

Qin Wudao grinned honestly. They were his children—of course he’d like them all.

He’d already decided.

Whether it was a Prince or a princess, they would be enfeoffed as Crown Prince. When he finished dealing with all the enemies, he’d push them onto the throne to handle the memorials every day.

Thinking of that, Qin Wudao’s smile grew even brighter.

“Come!”

“Let’s go for a walk together!”

Qin Wudao took Jade Snow Gentleman’s hand and headed toward the imperial garden.

All along the way.

He talked a lot, about how he’d encountered the Sword Sovereign, obtained the Heavenly Court inheritance, and everything that had happened in the Azure Cloud Sect—but he didn’t mention the Tribulation Clan or the Time Clan at all.

It wasn’t deliberate concealment.

He simply didn’t want Jade Snow Gentleman to worry.
