"What is the status?"

For a moment, the staff members of the surveillance department fell silent as the man entered the room. However, the department head quickly stepped forward to answer.

"Hunter Hannah has arrived alongside Hunter Raega and Zack. All three are attempting to infiltrate the dome surrounding the premises."

"Hunter Hannah is struggling?" Daniel asked with a frown as he watched the feed.

Considering her strength and what she had accomplished in such a short period, it was almost absurd to imagine anything capable of hindering her. And this wasn’t even the actual threat, but merely the barrier separating her from the Void.

"She should be able to get inside soon," Dave reported through the communication device connected to the room’s speakers. "She said she could sense a powerful presence inside and decided to rendezvous with them before continuing the raid."

Daniel frowned before turning toward Adam. "I don’t remember an S-rank living in that community."

Adam nodded. "Indeed, sir. However, most of the residents are VVIPs. It’s possible that some of their relatives are visiting."

At that moment, Adam wasn’t thinking about Kai. Not even in his wildest dreams would he have considered that the presence Hannah had sensed might belong to a warrior who had recently awakened yet possessed enough strength to stand against a Void.

All Adam could do was hope that Kai and the other residents survived until help arrived.

Just then, Dave’s voice rang out through the speakers.

"Sir! I can see helicopters approaching in the distance."

A moment later, another staff member confirmed the report.

"Confirmed, sir. Three helicopters are heading toward Blue Mountain. Judging by their insignia, they don’t belong to our association or any other guild listed throughout the nation."

Daniel turned toward the screen displaying images of the approaching helicopters and muttered under his breath, "Talk about choosing an appropriate time..."

...

Jean sat in the car, struggling to believe what she was witnessing.

Having seen hunters fight monsters before, she understood what a battle between a human and countless dangerous, ferocious creatures should look like. Yet, nothing she had witnessed in the past could have prepared her for this.

I can barely even see him, and yet the carnage is real.

She had already pinched herself twice to make sure she wasn’t dreaming.

The monsters emerging from the dungeons were being annihilated almost instantly. Some burst apart, while others had their heads severed before they could even acclimate to their surroundings.

This wasn’t a hunter going on a killing spree. It was as though some supernatural phenomenon was rejecting the very existence of anything that wasn’t human.

A massive turtle-like monster emerged from the largest spatial opening, its head alone larger than the car Jean was sitting in.

Yet, before the creature could fully emerge from the dungeon, something slammed into its shell, drawing a shriek from the enormous beast. A moment later, jagged ice spikes pierced its body, mercilessly butchering it before it could even retaliate.

Jean could only feel a measure of relief knowing that the person behind this chaos was on their side.

And yet, she still struggled to reconcile the man wreaking such devastation before her with the same person who smiled warmly at her and their daughter every morning across the dining table.

Suddenly, Elara stirred in Jean’s arms.

"Da..." she whimpered, her eyes still closed as she struggled to breathe.

"What happened?"

Before Jean could even process her daughter’s words, she found Kai standing just outside the car, his expression filled with concern.

She turned toward the battlefield and saw that some of the monsters were still collapsing, their bodies hitting the sand as though Kai hadn’t been the one fighting them just moments ago. Yet the blood covering him told a different story.

Jean lowered the window and leaned closer.

Throughout the battle, Kai’s heart had never known a moment of peace. He could feel his little one’s distress, and every passing second had only added to his growing anxiety.

He raised a hand, intending to gently stroke her head and offer whatever comfort he could. But when he noticed the blood smeared across his palm, he hesitated.

"Here," Jean suddenly offered, extending her arm, or rather, the sleeve of her clothing, so he could wipe his hand clean.

Kai gave her a faint smile and shook his head. "It’s okay. You need to keep holding her for a little longer."

Jean understood what he meant and slowly lowered her arm.

She could see how troubled Kai was. For all his strength, there was little he could do to ease their daughter’s suffering, and the situation had spiralled so far out of control that neither of them knew how to help her.

Just then, the system notified Kai.

[Host, a low-grade healing potion would surely help.]]

Kai blinked in surprise. He was frustrated with himself for not having thought of it sooner.

However, before he could purchase one, the system issued another notification.

[However, Host, even a low-grade potion would be too potent for a one-year-old. Please dilute it with water before feeding it.]

The system had addressed the very concern that had made him hesitate.

Kai had just summoned the potion into his hand and was about to ask Jean for some water when something unexpected happened.

"Huh?"

The potion vanished from his grasp.

It hadn’t been snatched away. One moment, it was there, and the next, it simply ceased to exist in his hand.

"Hmm..."

A familiar voice rang out, the same one that had greeted them when this bizarre ordeal began.

Kai turned toward the sound and found a young man, seemingly in his late teens, perched atop a massive dragon that had appeared out of nowhere. The boy held the potion in one hand, twirling it casually between his fingers.

Kai’s eyes narrowed.

There was no doubt about it. The person before him was responsible for everything happening around them.

"You are quite an amusing human, I must admit," the boy remarked before crushing the potion in his hand.

An amused grin spread across his face as he looked down at Kai.

"But in the end, you’re still a human with a weakness."

Snap.

He snapped his fingers, and—

TNG!

"Hmm?" The boy tilted his head in confusion. "Strange. It didn’t work."

Kai slowly turned to look behind him.

A translucent barrier had formed around the car, shielding his family from the outside world. At the same time, a notification appeared before his eyes.

[Family Bond: Activated]

Kai instantly understood.

That bastard had tried to capture his family. That was why the skill had activated.

"Hmm? Oh."

The boy lifted his head, only to find a fist rushing toward his face.

However, the attack was stopped by an invisible force field.

Kai gritted his teeth and poured even more strength into his punch, forcing the barrier to withstand the full might of his blow.

The boy tilted his head and remarked casually, "That’s unfortunate for you. I was just trying to pluck your baby’s head..."

CRACK!

The boy’s eyes widened as fractures suddenly spread across the force field.

Within his domain, the force field represented a boundary established by reality itself.

Yet Kai was breaking through it.

He wasn’t merely shattering a barrier.

He was tearing reality apart!
