Chapter 588: Life Draining Formation

[The fifth princess is not poisoned. She has been struck with a life draining formation.] Zhen Yuan answered with a solemn face.

Formations were normally arranged on the ground, on demon cores, on jade, or on special materials.

However, Zhen Yuan knew that formations could also be arranged on people!

That said, arranging formations on people was extremely difficult and very taxing on the body.

Most importantly, the method was a lost art that hadn’t been seen for many years.

[A formation? Can you break it?] Shen Xu asked and Zhen Yuan nodded.

[I can but breaking it is not easy.] The man said an began explaining.

[Formation masters normally require materials to anchor an array. However, a body formation uses body parts. If I am not careful, the body parts will collapse while I am trying to break the array.] He said and Shen Xu frowned with a thoughtful expression.

[Do you want to take the job?] He asked and Zhen Yuan nodded.

After all, this was the first time that he was encountering a body formation.

Seeing Zhen Yuan’s interest, Shen Xu turned to the two female cultivators.

"Can you make decisions on her behalf?" He asked, surprising the two female cultivators.

"Does the master need something?" The older of the females asked.

"I have identified the cause." Shen Xu started and quickly continued.

"However, this matter is not a simple case of poisoning. We would like to speak to someone who can decide on behalf of the fifth princess."

The two female cultivators exchanged a glance when they heard this.

"Wait." The older said and used her clan’s technique to message the partriach.

Soon after, Shen Xu and Zhen Yuan heard a flurry of footsteps and before long, seven people burst into the room.

"Do you have an antidote?" A middle-aged female rabbit asked as soon as she entered the room.

"We are willing to give a high reward if you can save our little sister." A young male rabbit said.

"My partner and I have a solution." Shen Xu said and sighed with a solemn expression.

"First, the fifth princess is not poisoned." He said, surprising the surrounding people.

"Not poisoned?" An old rabbit asked, looking at Shen Xu and Zhen Yuan with suspicious eyes.

After all, more than one hundred alchemists and healers had confirmed that the fifth princess was poisoned with an unknown poison.

Seeing their doubts, Shen Xu didn’t rush to defend himself and instead turned to Zhen Yuan.

"My partner is an alchemist but I am a formation master." The man started and quickly continued.

"I noticed it as soon as I arrived. The fifth princess has been struck with the life draining formation." He said and the old partriach narrowed his eyes before speaking.

"The life draining formation?" He asked and Zhen Yuan began explaining.

"It targets every aspect of the body: organs, qi, soul power, and Vitality. In the end, the fifth princess will wither and fall." He said and the surrounding people couldn’t help but be shocked.

"Can a formation be arranged in someone’s body?" One of the younger rabbit monsters asked.

"It’s a lost practice." The clan partriach said with a thoughtful expression.

Although the monster clan was not talented in arts like alchemy, formations, weapons refining, and inscriptions, the clan partriach had lived a long time and had seen many things.

"Little friend, can you break the formation?" The partriach asked, looking at Zhen Yuan.

"Mmh." Zhen Yuan nodded and quickly continued.

"I can break it as soon as you collect the required materials." He said and a middle-aged male rabbit immediately stepped forward.

"Please speak." He said and Zhen Yuan nodded before he began speaking.

"Seven high-grade soul jades, a

high-grade qi drawing stone, and five level twelve monster cores corresponding to the five primary elements." He said.

"The monster cores are easy to get, but the soul jades..." The middle-aged rabbit muttered but he was unwilling to give up.

"Two friends, are you willing to stay in our clan village while we search for the materials?" The man asked and Shen Xu frowned before speaking.

"We originally took this task because we are preparing for the food festival. It’s a bit inconvenient to stay here because we still need to find ingredients." He said and the patriarch peppered up.

"Our clan can provide some rare vegetables." He offered and Shen Xu nodded.

"Is there a monster forest nearby? We can go there to find monster ingredients while we wait for your preparations." He suggested and the partriach turned to several of the younger generation.

"Accompany the two friends to Nanshan forest. It will be convenient to come back if you go there."

With that, Shen Xu and Zhen Yuan were relieved and immediately agreed to the partriach’s request.

"Try to find everything within six months." Shen Xu said, looking at the fifth princess with worried eyes.

"Don’t feed her any more antidotes because those will only become impurities in her body." He said and the surrounding people nodded in understanding.

"We understand." They said.

After making arrangements, Shen Xu, Zhen Yuan, and several of the younger generation left the clan village.

Nanshan forest was only a few kilometres from the rabbit clan village.

Because of this, the group didn’t even use a ship and directly flew to the monster mountain.

"Isn’t your clan worried about monster tides?" Shen Xu asked.

After all, the village was too close to the monster mountain and would likely attract greedy monsters.

"The monsters don’t dare to come near our village because of the maze formation." Ling Kai, one of the young rabbits said.

"Senior, will the little sister be okay?" Another rabbit asked.

"She will be fine but she will need time to recover after we break the formation." Shen Xu said.

After all, the life draining formation had seriously damaged the fifth princess’ body and recovery would not only need time but also treasures.

"Is it the disciples of the Ten Evils sect that struck our little sister with the life draining formation?" Someone asked.

However, neither Shen Xu nor Zhen Yuan could answer that question because they were not there when the incident happened.
