Falling For My Alpha Stepsister (GL)
Chapter 228 Meeting Charlie Morgan
Without telling anyone in Playa Linda what was happening, Angel began preparing for her trip to the United States. Only the nuns knew what was happening because they had overheard the phone call, but Angel assured them she could handle the situation herself. Whenever her grandmothers or friends asked about her sudden trip, she simply told them she needed to meet April in the United States, keeping the real reason to herself.
She packed a few clothes for herself, some of Ocean’s clothes, and a handful of her daughter’s favourite toys. She was taking her baby girl along because there was no way she could leave Ocean behind while going to rescue April and Lucy May. She could not bring herself to part with one of her daughters just to search for the other...
Angel kept her emotions under control, although the thought of her family being in danger was slowly eating away at her. She had given Charlie one rule, and that was the only thing she was willing to negotiate.
Not a single drop of blood was to be shed from her wife or daughter.
If Charlie so much as laid a finger on either of them, Angel would make sure she regretted it.
She also had to take Percy along, which left the white-furred creature looking rather confused. Angel had picked him up and packed his things, but she was leaving his fur mate and children behind. Percy kept looking around as though he expected Angel to change her mind and bring the rest of his family along.
Before leaving, Angel said goodbye to Coco and the rest of her furry family. She was not even sure whether she would be bringing Percy back home, and the thought of returning him to his parents after everything that had happened did not sit well with her. Still, she had little choice. Charlie wanted her son, and Angel needed her family back.
On Monday morning, Angel finally left Playa Linda, determined to bring her wife and Alpha daughter home.
The moment she arrived at the airport in the United States, she booked a ride to the location Charlie had sent her. The journey took her away from the busy streets and towards a deserted stretch of land that looked like a beach resort. The place was quiet, with the sea breeze drifting across the sandy area and very few people around, although it was not entirely empty.
And there, sitting at a table near the beach resort, was Charlie Morgan.
The Beta wore dark sunglasses and a loose hoodie, and her hair, which used to be longer, now stopped around her shoulders. Despite the changes in her appearance, the same familiar goofiness remained, as though she had not spent the past seven years away from the people who once knew her.
The moment Charlie spotted Angel, she raised a hand and waved cheerfully, even though the Alpha had already recognised her.
Ocean was strapped securely against Angel’s chest, facing outward with her curious little eyes fixed on the unfamiliar surroundings. She stared at the strange woman who kept waving at her mother, then turned her attention towards the nearby tables, taking in everything with the innocent curiosity of a child who had no idea why they were there.
Percy, meanwhile, was locked inside a small cage.
Angel’s crimson eyes darkened at the sight.
She walked straight towards the table, her daughter resting against her chest and her expression growing colder with every step. Charlie immediately gestured towards the empty chair opposite her.
"Have a seat."
Angel did not even bother looking at it.
"Where is my family?"
Her crimson eyes remained fixed on the Beta, and it took every ounce of self-control she possessed not to smack the life out of the girl. Charlie should consider herself lucky that they were in a public place, because Angel was already struggling to keep her temper under control.
"Relax, you just got here," Charlie replied casually.
Her attention then shifted towards the small cage. The moment she saw Percy properly, her expression changed, and a strange tenderness appeared on her face.
"My white boy," she murmured, leaning down towards the cage. "I have missed you. It has been seven years."
She reached out as though she intended to touch him, but Angel immediately moved the cage away from her.
"Charlie, look at my face."
Angel’s voice was low, but there was a dangerous tremor running through it, the kind that warned anyone listening that her patience was almost gone.
Charlie slowly raised her head to meet the Alpha’s gaze.
"Does it look like I am here for some fucking reunion?" Angel asked, her eyes burning with anger. "Just give me back my family, and you can have him."
"Relax, Alpha. I spent seven years without my son, and you it’s not even three days without April..."
"CHARLIE!"
Angel’s voice rang across the beach resort, loud enough to make several people turn in their seats. A few stared openly at the two women, wondering what had caused the sudden outburst, while others quickly returned to their conversations.
Charlie winced slightly before raising both hands in surrender.
"Okay, okay! Relax. Come on, let’s go. I will take you to April and your daughter."
Angel gave her one last warning look before picking up the cage and following her.
The drive to the house was filled with Charlie talking about how much she had missed Percy. Seven years without her white-furred son had apparently felt like an eternity, and she seemed determined to explain every bit of her suffering to Angel, who sat in the back seat with Ocean strapped to her chest and the cage resting beside her.
Angel barely responded. She simply watched Charlie through the rear-view mirror, her crimson eyes following the Beta’s every movement while her mind remained occupied with April and Lucy May.
Charlie eventually explained that she had not known April would be staying at her family’s hotel. She had been shocked when she discovered the Omega there, and after recognising her, she had decided that taking April and Lucy May hostage was the only way to get Percy back.
Angel stared at her through the mirror, her expression growing more unimpressed with every word.
"You know Mexico is not really that far from here," she remarked coldly. "Whether by road or by air, it would not kill you to visit. I even remember sending you the location."
Charlie shrugged, keeping her eyes on the road.
"Doesn’t matter. Percy is here now, so you can take your wife and girl and go back to your little life in Mexico."
Angel said nothing, but the look in her eyes made it clear that she had plenty to say. She decided to save her words for later, when she had April and Lucy May safely beside her.
Eventually, they arrived at the house where Charlie claimed she had been keeping Angel’s family.
It was a modest three-bedroom flat, with a small living room and enough space for a family to stay comfortably. Angel stepped inside, her eyes immediately searching the unfamiliar surroundings for any sign of her wife or daughter.
However, neither April nor Lucy May was there to welcome her.
Ocean began crying against her chest, and Angel’s attention shifted towards her little girl. She gently unstrapped the baby and carried her into the living room, trying to soothe her while looking around the house.
Charlie disappeared down the hallway to check the room, leaving Angel standing in the living room with Ocean in her arms. The baby continued crying, and Angel rocked her gently, whispering comforting words while trying not to let the growing fear overwhelm her.
A few moments later, Charlie returned.
Her earlier cheerfulness was gone, replaced by a worried expression that immediately caught Angel’s attention.
"I can’t find them..."
