Falling For My Alpha Stepsister (GL)
Chapter 221: Picking Lulu From School
By the school, Angel sat beneath an umbrella at a small café owned by her wife. Honestly, April had opened the place partly because of Angel, who loved waiting around the school until it was time to pick up their daughter. No matter how busy the Alpha was with her ranch or other responsibilities, she always made sure to arrive thirty minutes before school closed at three in the afternoon.
It had become one of Angel’s favourite routines, a special part of her week that she looked forward to with a happiness she could never quite explain. She loved being there for Lulu, watching other parents arrive to collect their children while she waited for her own little girl. It didn’t matter how many years passed or how old her daughter became, Angel knew she would never grow tired of doing this. If she could spend the rest of her life making sure her children always had their mother waiting for them, she would happily do so.
The café was comfortable, with tables arranged beneath large umbrella shades to protect customers from the afternoon sun. Angel had chosen a seat where she could easily see the school entrance, occasionally glancing at her phone while keeping an eye on the gates. She wasn’t in a hurry to leave, especially when she knew that, in a few minutes, she would see the little girl who had completely stolen her heart.
The moment the school gates opened and the children began pouring out, Angel immediately stood up. She put her phone away and walked towards the entrance, her eyes searching through the crowd for one familiar face.
"Mommy!"
There she was, her little Angel, a miniature version of herself with the same familiar features and stylish glasses that reminded everyone she had inherited something from April too. Lucy May’s face brightened the moment she spotted her Alpha mother standing near the gate, and she immediately broke into a run.
Angel opened her arms just in time to welcome her daughter, scooping her off the ground and lifting her into the air. She spun around with Lulu in her arms, laughing as the little girl giggled with delight, her school bag bouncing against her back.
After a few circles, Angel finally stopped and pulled her daughter into a warm embrace, holding her close as though they had been apart for months instead of a few hours.
"My darling first girl," she whispered affectionately.
Hugging Lulu was something Angel did every day, yet she never seemed to get tired of it. If loving her daughter and showering her with affection were actual jobs, Angel would have been a professional by now. She had always wanted to be the kind of mother who was present in her children’s lives, someone they could depend on without having to wonder whether she would be there for them. Now that she had her own family, she was determined to give her wife and daughters all the love and attention they deserved.
After enjoying their little reunion, Angel finally lowered Lulu to the ground and helped her adjust her school bag. She took her daughter’s hand, and the two walked towards the Jeep parked nearby.
"Ocean did not come today?" Lulu asked, looking around as though she expected to see her little sister waiting for them.
"No, sweetheart. She’s at the ranch with Dante and Coco," Angel explained.
"Okay, are we going to the ranch first or the house?"
"We’re going to pick up your sister first, then we’ll visit Grams before heading home."
Angel smiled down at her daughter as they reached the vehicle. She opened the front passenger door and helped Lulu climb inside before making sure she was comfortably seated.
"Wait, I can do it by myself!" Lulu protested when her mother reached for the seat belt.
Angel paused and looked at her, amused by her daughter’s determination to prove that she was growing up.
"Alright, sweetheart. Show me what you can do."
She stepped back slightly and allowed Lulu to handle the seat belt herself, watching patiently as the little girl concentrated on getting it into the correct position. Lulu took her time, adjusting it until she finally managed to fasten it securely.
"There!" she announced proudly.
Angel smiled and checked that everything was in place before giving her daughter a kiss on the forehead.
"Well done, my little Alpha."
Satisfied that Lulu was safe and comfortable, Angel climbed into the driver’s seat, started the Jeep, and drove towards the family ranch.
By the time they arrived, the afternoon sun was shining over the ranch grounds, illuminating the familiar buildings and open spaces where Angel spent much of her time. She parked the Jeep and had barely turned off the engine when Lulu began looking around eagerly, hoping to catch sight of her little sister.
Ocean wasn’t difficult to find.
The two-year-old Omega was happily playing with the family of cats, completely absorbed in their company. Her little hands moved excitedly as she interacted with the furry creatures, looking as though she had found the perfect playmates to keep her entertained while her older sister was away at school.
The moment Lulu spotted her, she climbed out of the Jeep and hurried towards her.
"There you are, my little sister!" she exclaimed.
Before Angel could remind her to be careful, Lulu had already reached Ocean and lifted the toddler into her arms.
"Careful, Lulu!" Angel called, watching them closely.
"I know what I’m doing, Mommy," Lulu replied confidently, holding her little sister as though she had years of experience carrying babies.
Angel could only roll her eyes with a smile. Her daughter had developed quite a personality, and no matter how often Angel reminded her to be careful, Lulu always seemed convinced that she knew exactly what she was doing.
"Hey, Ocean, do you miss me? I missed you a lot!" Lulu said, looking lovingly at the little girl in her arms.
Ocean seemed just as happy to see her older sister. She moved closer to Lulu, her little face brightening as she recognised the familiar voice, and the sight made Lulu smile even wider.
A moment later, Lulu turned her attention towards the cats gathered around them.
"Hello, my fur family! How are you all doing today? Did you take care of my little sister while I was at school?"
She looked from one cat to another, waiting as though she genuinely expected them to answer her questions. When none of them responded, she simply continued talking, asking about their day and whether Ocean had behaved herself.
Although the cats couldn’t talk, Lulu seemed perfectly satisfied with the conversation. She nodded occasionally, answered questions that existed entirely in her imagination, and continued telling her furry companions everything she thought they needed to know.
Angel stood nearby, watching her daughters surrounded by their little now extended family of cats. Lulu was busy talking to the animals while keeping Ocean close, and the younger girl seemed perfectly content to enjoy her sister’s attention.
For a moment, Angel forgot about everything else she had to do that day. She simply stood there, taking in the sight of her beautiful family, and couldn’t help feeling grateful for everything she had.
