Chapter 141: Meeting August

After what Abigail told her that night about April’s dad leaving her hometown, Angel made it her personal mission to find her dad and bring April to see him.

Angel had told Anthony to ask the IT department to track down August January, and within just two days, the precise location information was brought straight to Angel.

Angel would have taken her girlfriend to meet him much earlier, but then the whole chaotic Benny arc entered their lives and put everything else on hold.

Now that they were completely done with the cruise ship elopement mess, and with the two of them moving to Mexico to start all over again, Angel was fully determined to take her girlfriend to her father first.

So they drove the van straight to a small town called Dean Block. It was a very quiet, small town nestled far away from the city.

April still had no clue about her mate’s big surprise as they traveled down the quiet roads.

They were in the van still driving together while Angel casually told April all about her mother’s side of the family waiting over in Mexico.

"So your uncle is actually a priest and his literal name is also Priest Del Rosario...?" April repeated back, making sure she had heard the story correctly after just finishing listening to Angel explain it.

"Yes, and he literally invented his religion... and he has so many dedicated followers already, plus he is only twenty-three years old..." Angel said, tapping her fingers against the steering wheel.

"Wow, you are actually older than your own uncle..." April said, a small laugh escaping her lips.

"Yeah... he also has plenty of older and younger siblings too... all of them living right there in the exact same neighborhood..."

"That is really one massive family... your grandparents have been pretty busy over the years..."

"Yeah, they really are, and they are genuinely happy over there..." Angel smiled softly, staring at the open road ahead. "He always calls us on the phone and says, ’Hey big sister, why don’t you just leave that crazy plutomania Alpha behind and bring your daughter over to stay with all of us in Mexico?’ And mommy would always smile and say, ’I really can’t do that because I love my wife, and I only want what is absolute best for my child...’ But look at me now, I am finally going to Mexico anyway..."

"I am so sure Mommy will be extremely happy up there knowing that you are finally doing what you love..." April said gently, resting her hand on Angel’s thigh.

"I really hope so..." Angel sighed, her eyes softening. "But I honestly wish Mommy had just stayed in Mexico and never come to River-west in the first place... then she wouldn’t have ever met that Alpha."

"Sometimes we all do wish things could be different like that," April said quietly, looking out the passenger window. "But if we really look closely at the whole picture, if your mommy did not meet Ms. Morningstar back then, you wouldn’t have been born at all. And if my own parents did not meet each other, I wouldn’t have been born either. And if our parents did not meet, we wouldn’t have ever known each other or fallen in love... Even though it’s really hard to admit it out loud... our parents had an important role to play in our lives. Just look at the bright silver lining, Papi..."

Even though she had defended herself so fiercely against her mother earlier, deep down inside, April knew her mother was actually right about one thing... if it wasn’t for her mother, she would have never met Angel in that mansion.

After driving for hours along the highway, it was late afternoon when the van finally pulled up and stopped directly in front of a small, cozy house.

"Okay, we are officially here..." Angel said, unbuckling her seatbelt first before leaning over to help unbuckle April’s seatbelt as well.

Before stepping out of the driver’s side, Angel turned around toward the back and strictly instructed her two cats to absolutely not make any mess while they were outside the vehicle. She looked directly at her newly adopted son-in-law, looking him dead in the eyes to make sure he understood the assignment. She was really talking directly to him like a human.

Percy just stayed completely cool on the blanket, casually wriggling his white furry tail back and forth without a care in the world.

While they walked together up through the front porch steps, April decided to turn her head and ask a burning question.

"So, who exactly are we seeing here...?" April teased, tilting her head with a playful smirk. "Is this one of your former ex-flings, just to tell them face-to-face that you are permanently leaving the country with me...?"

"Come on now... can’t you think of literally anything else other than that...?" Angel groaned, shaking her head as she laughed.

"No, I really can’t," April giggled.... "Because you explicitly said you wanted to take me to a very special place, and yet here we are standing right in front of someone’s random suburban house..."

Angel went completely silent, a mischievous glint in her eyes, and then reached out her hand to press the small doorbell button.

After some time passed, the front door was pulled open, and a tiny young girl who looked about 4 years old showed up in the doorway.

"Hello, are you looking for someone?" the little girl said, her wide eyes staring up at the two older ladies standing on her porch.

Before Angel could even open her mouth to ask for the specific person she was looking for, April suddenly heard an extremely familiar, deep voice calling out from inside the hallway.

"June, who on earth is at the door right now...?"

"I don’t know, Daddy," the little girl called back over her shoulder, pointing her hand toward the porch. "They are strangers, and one of them is looking just like my big sister April..."

When the tall man finally showed up in front of the open door, April instantly recognized his face after all these long years.

"Dad..."
