Fairy, Don't Be Afraid, I Am Blind
Chapter 706: Dark Torrent of the Falling Rain (Part 2)
Chapter 706: Chapter 336: Dark Torrent of the Falling Rain (Part 2)
“Let me go.”
Like a spark vanishing in the rain, these three words burst from You Su’s mouth.
Huang restrained his smile, his face somewhat grave:
“You can’t save her.”
“Let me go!” You Su growled, and a rumbling thunder sounded in the sky.
“Many people hope you survive. Even if it’s not to save them, you should live on. You can’t survive the siege of the Viper Snake and the Evil Tide. Have you thought that maybe even she doesn’t want to see you turn back.”
Huang was still trying to dissuade You Su.
The cold rain felt like marbles hitting You Su’s face, but he no longer felt the pain. He felt an unprecedented agitation, yet also an extraordinary calm.
“I will save her! I can save everything! Let me go!”
Huang shook his head, “You can’t do it.”
His voice was as confident as if he had seen through all of You Su, so he had no doubt about his weakness.
You Su did not reply. He simply removed his sunglasses, revealing pupils like two deep, indifferent black holes that absorbed all light.
For the first time, You Su showed someone his most special side without any reservation. He had worn the blind man’s guise for too long.
He didn’t know why he never told anyone that he could actually see in these circumstances, not even the closest junior and senior sisters or Master. They would never despise him even if they knew he was a monster.
But he just didn’t say it. Half of it was because he enjoyed the benefits of being perceived as blind when he wasn’t; the other half was entirely subconscious, as if he was instinctively avoiding something.
“These eyes like to see things they shouldn’t… they should just be blind…”
You Su recalled this vague sentence from his deep memories. The night he killed Ming Dao and was in a daze, he remembered this sentence, but he soon forgot it, just like every other time he remembered it.
And until moments ago, when he was indecisive, the words came back to him.
You Su finally understood why he subconsciously didn’t want to tell others he could see because he knew someone intentionally blinded him, deliberately preventing him from seeing the world.
The blind don’t walk paths beyond what they know; they only follow the roads already paved. Someone hoped that the blind him would become a blind person.
And when he inexplicably could see, he realized he must never reveal this secret. This was a window that the heavens quietly opened for him, and he dared not let anyone know. He didn’t want to bring trouble upon himself or harm those close to him. So “seeing” became a secret he wouldn’t speak of, even more so than the True Lord.
Yet now, he removed his glasses, as if to show Huang his resolve.
“You can’t do it,” Huang shook his head.
His eyes seemed to move slightly, and looking directly at You Su gave him a sense of separation. A series of vivid images with voices appeared before him.
They were struggling people amidst chaos, persevering amid the Viper Snake and Evil Tide’s rampage. The blind man who charged into the Evil Tide became their last hope, passed from mouth to mouth.
The sacred white snake, transformed by Ji Xueruo, was entangled and bound by the Viper Snake, her life slowly being strangled. Her beautiful snake eyes were just staring in the direction where You Su was leaving, and he vaguely heard the words ‘go on,’ like the gentle drifting wind.
“Even if you can do it, so what? No one hopes you turn back. Do not defy everyone’s wishes.”
Huang spread his arms, his voice slightly louder:
“Your elders, your lover, your friends, they all expect you to leave with the legacy. You are the protagonist of the world; they will all be ecstatic at your success. Let go of the thought and head off the island.”
“Shut up for me…!!”
You Su shouted hysterically, “Isn’t this what you wanted to see! You just want me to take this path! A path completely contrary to the life I’m supposed to have!!”
Huang stood there dumbfounded, the swirling storm centering around him.
He examined the young man’s unveiled eyes and suddenly laughed again:
“Neither the Evil Tide nor the Viper Snake is under my control. Someone wants to manipulate your fate, but there will always be a day that goes against the real Heavenly Dao. You will face this decision sooner or later. It’s not me forcing you. I’ll advise you one last time, move forward, don’t look back. Both you and the ones you love, life is only lived once.”
You Su gripped the Mo Song Sword tightly, as if to embed the sword into his flesh.
He had come a long way, overcoming trials and tribulations, always turning danger into safety. Those indescribable opportunities and inextricable duties eventually landed on his shoulders.
From an obscure blind child in a small town to today, it was an unimaginable journey. And as long as he proceeded to take the legacy off the island in an orderly manner, his life would reach its most crucial climax.
Ji Xueruo’s death would be a trivial regret since she was always different from the junior and senior sisters, not even having a confirmed relationship with him. So many beauties awaited his return; he didn’t have to defy his fate for Ji Xueruo.
The predetermined future would be wonderful, yet You Su did not want it.
He just realized that before today, everything had been pushing him forward, as if there were invisible hands guiding him to play pivotal roles in these events.
But today, in this overseas fairy island beyond the Five Continents, You Su saw those invisible hands through his eyes.
“Will I die?”
“He can’t spy on here, and from now on, he will never be able to spy on you again.” Huang answered with a smile, his tone filled with a transcendent confidence.
You Su stood silently for a while, tying his disheveled long hair behind his head, much like the moment he made a decision in front of Mr. Ling.
The lightning flashed brightly, and his face was stern like a young god.
“Can I leave now?” You Su asked.
“Certainly.” Huang extended his hand, like a host seeing off a guest.
You Su was about to leap off the tree, but Huang abruptly called out:
“Might I ask, are you turning back this time to defy the manipulation of your fate, or just to rescue that little white snake?”
You Su tightened his grip on the sword, his voice clear as spring water: “Both.”
A glimmer of confusion flashed in Huang’s eyes, quickly replaced by understanding. He then asked:
“Are you planning to run to save her like this?”
You Su turned back, about to retort, but Huang cut him off, smiling:
“The Evil Tide isn’t under my control; the Viper Snake isn’t under my control because they don’t belong to this island. However, there are still many things on this island that are within my control.”
He then clapped his hands, and You Su immediately felt an unusual trembling from the ground.
In no time, the ground suddenly cracked open, and a gigantic mouse covered in Scale Armor with a mouth that flickered with firelight broke through the earth.
It opened its bloody mouth and roared, dispersing the Evil Tide around it, and the fire brewing in its mouth seemed to curse the rainy day it despised.
“Ride it; you should still make it in time.”
Huang’s voice suddenly echoed, and as he finished speaking, You Su found his legs moving against his will, awkwardly leaping off the tree trunk.
At that moment, the Fire Armadillo rushed beneath him, and he landed firmly on the hard head armor of the Fire Armadillo.
This giant beast moved with unimaginable speed, and You Su had to immediately grip its scales tightly to avoid being thrown off. However, before he could even look back at Huang one last time, he was already ‘sailing smoothly through the mountains.’
Left behind, Huang merely looked in the direction You Su had gone with a complex expression. Smiling, he stroked his beard, only to realize this body had no beard at all.
He chuckled softly and looked at the overcast sky, experiencing an unprecedented sense of elation:
“Who says the protagonist of the story must be a rogue defying the heavens? I think this passionate romantic is not bad either…”
